Batman v Superman - New Official Trailer

I believe Doomsday will be just something unleashed by Lex to destroy Superman, but it's powerful and it can't be controlled, so Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman need to assemble to stop it. Lex will be the most important enemy. Not in terms of power, but in terms of story. I don't think there is a chance that Superman dies in this.

I agree their is no way superman dies. I think that is why they used this zombified Zod version of doomsday it gives them a fighting chance. Its really doomsday in name and appearance only. If they went with the original comic origins of Doomsday Superman, Wonder Woman, and Batman would not be alive in that universe.

I want to like the movie and this particular trailer made that more difficult, so, no, I don't really think it's hyperbolic. The trailer literally had the opposite of its intended effect for me. You clearly feel differently, and that's okay, but for me, this has been the worst of the trailers. For me, a lot of the things I've been concerned about (Eisenberg's Luthor, Affleck's Batman, how the costume looks in action for Batman, the plot of the movie, etc) got reinforced by this trailer, suggesting that Snyder is making a movie that others may love, but may not work well for me. I thought Wonder Woman and Superman generally looked great, and the spectacle value was high, but I knew those things would be good, and they aren't enough to overwhelm some of the other stuff.

Yeah, this is how I feel exactly.

I sat through Kimmel to see the trailer and everything they showed put a big smile on my face and had my jaw dropped

But I acknowledge that while all the content is good, the trailer itself is weird and awful. Yes I even like Lex here, we already have Bruce and Clark being all serious I dont think we need to throw another mess of testosterone into the mix.

Mongul has history though. He can have motivations, a backstory, plans. Including him here would be too much, in addition to the question of "How the hell did Mongul get here and why is Lex teaming up with another alien?"

Doomsday is a big dumb brute who can serve the purpose of being a big dumb brute. Lex creating him out of Kryptonian DNA is a perfectly valid excuse for his existence, and isn't far from previous interpretations of the character (for example he was a CADMUS creation in Justice League Unlimited).

And again, this could totally end with Superman dying, leaving Batman with a sense guilt that he was fighting the wrong guy. Plus it would open Justice League in an interesting position of how to resurrect him.
While you raise good points, I don't think it would be fit to kill Superman off, even temporarily in his second movie. Let's have an established Justice League first. We can't disrupt the status quo, if there is no status quo.

Unless Superman kills Luthor, I don't see how Superman's methods would trigger Batman towards taking him down. And it would be redundant to the already existing and already valid motivations for him doing so in the movie.

People will see Batman v Superman fight. And they're also seeing the Trinity. They'll see the rest of the League in 2017.

There are many ways around it, such as Luthor killing an innocent indirectly caused by Superman, and then Batman goes all " if we do things my way, it wouldn't have happen".

While i think its true, but people who pays for this movie are far likely to do so because of the fight. A chocolate lover is far more likely to prefer a box of chocolate rather than a marshmellow coated with chocolate.

Lex is beyond awful that actor is awful

Legitimately.

The entire performance, voice and movement, is awful during his "...the devil will do it" line. Awful.

Yeah. Remove Lex from the trailer and it would be far more palatable.

this just might end up being even worse than man of steel.

hurry up with that batman film.

Totally agree.

Even super man fan angry joe is disappointed in the trailer.

Especially superman fan joe. Those who love the franchise are of course more sensitive to changes and more upset about misrepresentation than someone without stake in the franchise.

Lex Luthor has historically changed to reflect how people see an innovative businessman/inventor in the times. Him being a hyperactive jerk ala Steve Jobs is perfect casting.

Also, it might make a Steve Jobs film profitable for once.

Jobs was like this? I was under the impression he was a chill, quiet guy, not sure why. Maybe it was the turtlenecks.

Doomsday was heavily rumored from the get-go so him being spoiled doesn't hit me too hard since I think a lot of people realized that the movie couldn't just be Batman and Superman fighting with the other (probably stretches to the end of the second act) although I definitely think they could have kept him a secret as it would have been a neat enough twist.

So does the plot goes that Bruce and Clark settle their differences because there's a huge monster running around with Wonder Woman stepping in to help or will conflict still be residing after Doomsday is defeated and the majority of the third act is them sorting their issues out without punching the other in the jaw?

Not sure if joking but hilarious in any case.

Now I know why Christian Bale didn't want to make another Batman movie. This looks horrendous. Like if some 7-year old wrote the script for the movie and hollywood ran with it.
+ CGI everywhere, NOPE

after watching the Batman trilogy I just can't wath any other Batman movie which isn't atleast on the same type of quality.

So you invented time travel?

Guys Guys, I just saw the 2026 Movie Avengers v Justice League movie. Man, that Captain America/Batman Team Up scene was just great. And I loved the Tim Drake/Jubilee romance. What a luck that Disney got the X-Men rights back im 2023.

Loved how they team upped against Thanos and Darkseid.

Are you John Titor?

Tell us which actors will play Batman and Captain America.
Will the US be a dystopia?

Angry Joe has been against this movie since Batman was announced to be in it. He hated the Affleck casting. He hated the Gal casting. He hated the Eisenberg casting. Any news about the movie he's hated. He hasn't liked any of the trailers and comes up with insane theories and then gets angrier when they aren't what happens. He's basically just mad to be mad at this point.

Chris Evans continues to play Captain America until he can pull off the current Old Ass Steve Rogers while Idris Elba will be the first black Bruce Wayne.
Dude, you all should see the outrage on the message boards. The thread on neoneogaf was a massacre.

He liked the Comic-Con 2015 trailer

What? He didn't like Eisenberg, for the same reasons a lot of fans didn't like Eisenberg and the same reason that people dislike Eisenberg in the trailer. Because he doesn't play Luthor, he plays Eisenberg like in every other movie he starred in.
But he otherwise embraced everything, even while looking critical at some things. I don't share his sentiment for Bizarro, because I don't like Bizarro, but I think he was ready for a movie.

I would go back and watch the announcements. I don't recall him be happy about any of it. That first teaser might as well have been a giant fuck you. His complaint was the movie makes Batman look like an idiot.

been a while since i've seen a trailer where playtime vs quality are on such a perfect inverse linear.

think i generally prefer superhero movies before they start doing the superhero bollocks.

quite like lex though.

It's a difference of opinion and nothing about being mad for no reason. I didn't like the Affleck casting as his face annoys me. Yet in the trailers he has managed to at least make me think yeah I will give him a chance. Eisenberg as others have said can only act as himself. What some people don't understand is 99% of the people moaning are fans and will still see the movie. They moan etc because they hoped for better (in their opinion). For me I liked the first two trailers but the 3rd has lowered my hype big time.

I see the appeal of DCAU's Luthor as that guy was amazing. But I have no problem with this Luthor either. It just seems like a different representation of him you know.

He forms his opinions entirely from whatever the Internet consensus is, so this shouldn't be surprising.

No he says what he feels. Yes he overreacts a little but I feel he is showing his true feelings. Just because he doesn't share your view doesn't mean he isn't speaking how he feels.

Yeah, this is how I feel exactly.

This is exactly how it made me feel too: disappointed and tenuous. Except I think Affleck's Batman looks damn good, so I disagree on that one point (him holding a gun kinda ticked me off). But Eisenburg's Lex really disappointed me. And Doomsday made me outright frown, why go down that road at all so soon?

I pretty much agree with Angry Joe's feelings exactly. I'm not hopeful.

You know, if Fassbender wasn't tied up in X-Men he could probably do a great Lex.

Yeah, that would have been cool to see actually. Just anyone who could play Lex as a serious intelligent confident mastermind, not some comic relief nerdy type. :(

fuuuuuck me, what a time to be ALIVE.

Jesus, Snyder knows how to shoot a fucking film.

Now if only the script doesn't suck a wet fart.

This gaf hivemind clumping is hysterical. Like gaf is the only one disappointed in the trailer and thus they are Marvel-gaf. Just look at some reactions elsewhere online or talk to a few people outside your circle. I am not kidding when everyone I spoke with so far did not like this trailer.

Here are some reviews:
Jeremy Jahns
Collider Movie Talk
Chris Stuckmann

The differences are in the camps. Reviewers have to call things how they see it and can admit to shittyness. Reactioners (just go with it!) will love goddamn anything they see to ham it up in front of the camera. That's not to say some people didn't enjoy the trailer, but it's disingenuous to cry "marvelgaf!" >=[ when several people outside of gaf shares the same sentiments.

Trying to imagine Suckerpunch written by someone else...

I know just about everybody hates Sucker Punch but I liked it. It's still at the bottom of the Zack Snyder pile but I've rewatched it a couple of times. The only really bad part of that movie was the final fantasy sequence. It didn't quite fit the previous sequences and how they related to what was going on. Takes you out of it. Thought everything else was fine.

It also was goddamn beautiful to look at.

Dam, this look dumb. I also don't buy Affleck as Bruce, as Bats he seems to be ok.
I don't know, we didn't see much of his Bruce, only the part were he got sassy with Kent and emptily starring at things. Though I personally would Bruce Wayne acting with more charm when confronted by a reporter, I also buy him being a bit pissed that someone pisses on his work. After all, he tries to improve Gotham both as Batman and as Bruce Wayne (and nobody knows better than him, that his success is ... moderate).

I think it was a beautiful film, but the story...

Maybe it'll be like Inception. I hated that at first, but it grows on me. Like a parasite.
