Batman V Superman TV Spot 1

The whole thing makes Batman look too much like a scrub imo. Less like two titans fighting and more like a guy in a mask who is completely out of his depth.

I doubt Snyder will fail though at making Batman look like a beast in the fight scenes.

Maybe that's intentional? I can't remember where it was said, but supposedly Batman is the central antagonist for first 2/3 of the movie. I bet the goal is to make him look out of his depth and unreasonable for trying to fight Superman, even if his motivations come from an understandable place.

I think they're making it a point to sell Batman as the underdog, but also the instigator and the villain of sorts. I'm expecting an unhinged Bruce in this movie. He'll be the unreasonable and stubborn one of the two. Reading comments around the net, people are siding with Superman in this spot. With Batman's popularity, i'm relieved that the movie can do this. Clark's got the upper hand, the epic flowing cape shot, and the whatever man dismissal.

In other words, Batman is putting Superman over without people realizing it.

We're on the same page.

Yeah, it might work in the context of the movie as a whole.

That closing angle in the tv spot was still goofy though.

tbh, I was hyped as hell after the first teaser and trailer, despite not liking Snyder (I think MoS was okay, but it had more to do with the strong cast than him) but each subsequent showing has me less and less enthused. It seems more and more Marvel-ized, but I think the Batman/Superman relationship in general is way too nuanced to fit the Marvel model. I'm hoping it's just the people cutting the trailers, though

Can't he just x-ray through the mask anyway?

"Oh look, it's bruce wayne"

A Kryptonite mask, perhaps? That could also explain how Batman will eventually get his ass handed to him in the movie since the radiation poisoning and inevitable brain cancer will no doubt have an effect on him.

He's done that a few times. Might be what leads him to interviewing Bruce in the movie.

This looks like their first confrontation. Pure speculation, but I'm guessing he is delivering a warning to Batman for his vigilante justice (branding) that he was trying to investigate (from the SDCC trailer). There's obviously more to this scene than this TV spot.

I just like that we're not getting TAS superman that fell over to the dumbest things.

Taking it into context is the big thing here. SDCC was cut for the diehard fans, for people that post on hobbyist internet forums. This and the last trailer were meant to be more family friendly, pushed out during Star Wars and now football games.

Hax.

Bad CG here.

People outside of forums are very much looking forward to it. Comic book and video game websites and forums are an echo chamber of one upsmanship to show how "sophisticated" you are by being able to break down a 30 second ad and proving that a movie and all movies forward will be of low quality. It's insanity multiplied. There's no discussion to be had at that point.

People may still be looking forward to it but I ask friends, coworkers, and family alike, and most were down on BvS trailers. This just isn't random internet hate.

This isn't true. A fair few of my mates and acquaintances have been very negative about what they've seen. None of them are on message boards. Its not like Snyder is a revered director. Hes always had plenty of critics.

Now we are arguing about who's friends and acquaintances are excited or not about the movie? For the love of God shoot me now!

Right? Like that matters in some way. 7 billion people on the planet. Not everyone gives a shit about some movie about guys in tights.

I don't hide at all the fact that despite my interest in this movie, it's mainly due to my love of the source material rather than what's actually been shown. It seems really dumb though to downplay the anticipation for this movie when it's popping up on most anticipated lists everywhere. Pretty much every youtube list and online movie site has it in their top 10 anticipated movies for 2016.

Not everybody talks about it either. Saying this now you will learn that I highly anticipate Doctor Strange and not once have I posted in a thread about that movie. I eagerly await the MCU take on Spider-Man (which is in my Top 5 list of heroes) and yet I haven't been in one thread about it. I imagine I am not alone in that behavior. Far from it.

People are pretty much in agreement that this trailer is kind of dumb, right? That Batman's voice is silly robotic, right?

I mean, I'm seeing this movie Day 1 in real IMAX here in Orlando, but all i did was chuckle after this trailer. What the fuck.

Promo for this movie has gotten progressively worse. Also, DCU fans are among the worst with the persecution complex, my word.

DC-GAF deserves a little room to vent. They haven't had a movie in 3yrs to brag about.

That's unfair. Most people can't name 10 other movies that are coming out in 2016.

I suspected the same thing when they brought Batman into the project... makes sense. In wrestling terms you get Batman to put Superman over. Didn't think they would do it, but it's a good way to get more people to like Superman. Because the default to just about everyone would've been Batman.

He's clearly avoided Superman (unless he wanted to slam into him sideways). I'm going to stand by my earlier prediction and this slow motion strengthens my resolve. Superman showed up to stop Batman here. Batman (you can tell as he swerves out of the way and the headlights reveal Superman from the darkness from the Batmobile's perpective) doesn't see him right away.

Superman drops in, stops the car/tank, tears off the doors, probably tells him to stop, leaves him with a warning since he sees some good in him but not his methods (making all this stuff up) and flies off.

Batman trying to run over Clark makes Batman just seem like a brute lol... he's supposed to be the World's Greatest Detective... I'm not too sure he'd do that.

I'm led to believe this as well. The movie probably won't be either of those extremes but somewhere in the middle. At least that's the rational approach I'm taking.

Take the Suicide Squad "First Look" footage, for example. That was meant to be shown only to the diehards at SDCC. It wasn't cut for a general audience. I expect the last couple of trailers for SS to take a light hearted approach.

It is. I had the displeasure of watching a "he fights for justice, and lives for love" commercial on NBC I think it was while my wife was in labor. It was hilariously awful and painted the movie to look like a romcom.

My god I wish we had a Gaf thread for that

Oh man Comic-Film Gaf is funny

nothing but mostly shitposts in marvel threads and no one says nothing
But say one thing wrong about DC and its all "well if you dont like the movie you don't have to be here!"

Complexity of Prosecution.
The irony in this post, oh my god.

Was more hyped before the last dumbass trailer spoiled the ending showing them making up and fighting doomsday together

It's like some people confuse the last action sequence (which we don't even know if that's true) with the actual ending. Are you worried Doomsday will fall over and then roll credits?

The more I see of this, the more I hope it's a colossal failure and WV are forced to completely reboot and rethink their approach to superhero movies.

I mean it's like this is from a nightmarish alternate universe where The Incredible Hulk was more successful and influential than Ironman, where lame grim dark actually works as the underpinnings for all superhero movies. The kind of universe where the relative success, critical reception and public adoration of Guardians of the Galaxy and Fant4stic are reversed.

It just looks so miserable and lame and the kind of superhero movie some edgy and overly emotional 13 year old would come up with.

this guy gets it. The Incredible Hulk comparison is perfect.

You see sparks and even hear the car hit him, superman even looks like he kicks the car as he raises his right leg but it all goes quite fast.

Also vehicles don't suddenly change direction like that by themselves, it also bounced on it's axle direction because of what just happened.

I don't think WB would be interested in doing a reboot at that point. They'd probably drop it and consider doubling down on something else like Harry Potter. They have a lot of money riding on BvS.

I doubt this film won't break a billion though.

So, "I don't like thing" and you want something a ton of people spent 3 years of their lives making to be a colossal failure. That sounds to me like something a 13 year old edgy and overly emotional little brat would say instead of an educated adult.

So it's not enough if that you just personally don't like it? You want it to fail entirely? You sound miserable

I don't know if that's the goal considering he's seen beating Superman down and making him bleed.

I can only laugh at this.

I finally realized what bugged me about the tv spot. He kicks the car his right, but in the next shot the car crashes to his left.
