Batman v Superman - New Clip

Cavill is really trying his best to sound badass, isn't he?

Even Charlie Hunnam delivered better threats in SOA, man, step your game up. Your the invincible alien, a god among people, you tell a Batman off like you mean it, not this "mee-mee-mee-mee-mee-meeeeee-mee"-Beaker the Muppet-bullshit.

Also; the monologue is too long to be intimidating. Make it shorter, he's Superman, he's got better things to do than tangle with a goof in a Halloweencostume. "Tell your commisioner the Bat is dead. Consider this mercy." Fly off. Bam, done. Ignore Batman when he says "tell me", you're above him. He's nothing. You'll be flying off while he's standing there in his ghetto'd Batmobile going all "bu-bu-bu-but I wanna know if you bleed!" before he calls his boy Alfred to come pick him up in the Battowtruck.

That might work out if the movie was called Superman v Commissioner Gordon's Tendency To Let The Batman Thing Slide

People deconstructing how Batman is in the film by having watched only like 2 minutes of footage. I love this threads.

I agree that Supes' line came off a little flat. But it's one line.

Nothing will stop this movie from making a billion dollars.

I see zero issues with Cavill. But this is a BVS thread so yeah.

I wish they used a different bat symbol though. Just looks like a big blob of ink.

It will be mediocre, though. Quickly forgotten.

Lol okay. Some of you really sound like you have an agenda when you make baseless statements like this.

"It will..."

"It's going to..."

"Bomb"

"Failure"

"Biggest disappointment of 2016"

A lot of you say these things so definitively. Based on what I wonder?

Cavill's delivery is horrendous. Genuinely.

He sounds like someone trying to rap whilst not being enthusiastic enough to get into it. And the music trying to help the delivery is awful.

Affleck's delivery is better. The voice is a step-up from Bale's TDK voice.

The writing is terrible. "The Bat is dead. Bury it". How about put a line through that and come up with something better?

The footage we've seen so far?

I thought Avengers was going to suck too based on the trailers but was way off so maybe BvS will surprise.

So far though I don't feel any hype.

Man, it's not worth it. BvS threads have becoming a parody of themselves.

Saying "I don't like what I have seen thus far" is one thing". Saying "This will be mediocre and quickly forgotten" is something else entirely.

Oh I don't care. It's almost a game now.

I am not well versed in the Batman comics, but from all the media I've seen... Bruce/Batman is menacing because he comes off calculating and stoic. Isn't Batman supposed to be a detective? Why is he asking Superman if he bleeds? I feel like in any other interpretation of the character this question would be resolved by gathered DNA samples and doing some kind of research in the Batcave.

And I get that it's supposed to be a threat, but it's so literal and forced that it doesn't reflect the kind of menace and terror Batman typically gives off to the people he's targeting.

Anyway, this is a Zack Synder movie so we shouldn't expect more than just good action.

You are correct. This scene is unlike comics Batman, and unlike Superman they don't have the excuse of it being an early career thing.

Batman looking all dumpy while asking Superman if he bleeds looks and sounds dumb. Batman is the kind of character who'll have some leverage that puts him back in the dominant position. He'd call Superman 'Clark', or he'd have some Kryptonite. His recourse wouldn't be vague threats, lol.

"Freaks dressed like clowns" is Batman. "Do you bleed? You will"? Eh.

Y-you do understand this takes place before their big fight with the suit and whatever it entails? You understand it's just a snippet from a long movie, right? That it's their first time meeting? He doesn't have leverage yet?

You guys are reaching. Really, really reaching.

The score is a bit too much also, isn't it?

It's like they noticed the weak dialogue and wanted to compensate with swells of music.

"The Bat is dead. Bury it" BWARRRM
"Tell me-" BWEEEEM "Do you bleed?"

That doesn't matter... ? I'm criticizing what I see. It being their first meeting doesn't in my mind make the dialogue work.

It's called a time machine. In the near future it's cheaper than Oculus Rift right now.

Oh come on. It does. You want Batman to act as if he's encountered him before and have leverage and all the other junk you said. It hasn't happened yet because this is the first time they've met and fought. It's what the movie is about.

How can he call him Clark if he doesn't know? You say it's unlike comics Batman, but you're off. The guy you quoted, Botty, said Batman is stupid for not collecting DNA... you can't collect DNA from Supes. Now you're complaining about loud music in a superhero trailer? Have you never seen a superhero trailer before?

You're basing far fetched assumptions on a clip from a movie and nit picking the most asinine stuff. You can't be taken seriously.

"loud music in a superhero trailer". No, a clip from the movie, and my point wasn't about it being loud, it was about it being obnoxious.

You don't have to take me seriously, I don't care. I would actually appreciate it if you, you in particular, didn't, because you're not bringing any noteworthy points to my attention and you seem to have taken personal offence to my criticism of a movie clip.

I'll play. What should the dialogue have been? Give me an idea of what you think would have worked better and we will go from there.

I'm warming up to the fact that his deep/raspy/metalic voice changer isn't exclusive to Metallo Batman, if only because I think this is the best looking live action Batman (and this is coming from a huge Bale TDK Trilogy fan). The fabric just looks right and I love how massive he is.

Cewl. Point still stands with the music. It's also cool you ignored everything else I said. I directly contested your incorrect notions of what Batman should have done. I take nothing personal from what you or anyone else says, however it's aggravating to see every BvS thread get shitted up.

Next complaint will probably be bad writing, right?

Fuck that looks good, this is going to be the best CBM. Until Suicide Squad that is.

Just a friendly reminder - Junkie XL, the guy who scored Mad Max: Fury Road, is scoring Batman bits. So I have no fear.

Guitar dude will steal the show, again.

Day One. Cavill comments are from a cheaper, slim version.

Now I want Robin strapped to the Batwing playing flameguitar.

however it's aggravating to see every BvS thread get shitted up.

I see you are not a Marvel fan, because you would be used to this by now. Also, criticizing what is shown is hardly thread shitting, bringing up Edgar Wright in all Marvel threads is.

I do like the Marvel movies. I have most on Blu. I kinda shy away from the threads though.

I feel like I'm one of the few in NeoGAF that likes both Cinematic Universes.

But the dude I quoted and many like him just write off DCCU to being shit with minute and far fetched criticism.

Supes looks like he doesn't want to be there saying those things. In all the spots he looks uncomfortable. If this is deliberate that could be interesting.

I'm down with DC not taking the safe and easy approach of Boyscout vs Dark Knight. Reluctant Supes & Tired Bats have way more to feed off each other with. Still unsure about the entire JL being in though.

I am genuinely curious to see a MCU thread that comes anywhere close to as bad as a BvS or SS thread. And not for a movie already released. A thread about an upcoming movie. Civil War, Strange, Panther, Thor, Marvel, GotG2, Infinity War 1 or 2. Post 'em if you got 'em.

Criticism of something does not mean that I, personally, could have done a better job. It's just me voicing that I didn't like the dialogue in the context in which it is presented, and what my reasons are for disliking it.

That doesn't mean the dialogue won't work in the film, just that I'm not convinced.

The problem isn't criticism of clips. Assume some bias if you want, but that is to ignore the likely possibility that the clips themselves are the cause of the negativity, instead of there being some latent negativity that is maliciously imbued on BvS trailers/clips. The problem is you wanting BvS threads to be oases of positivity when maybe the footage hasn't earned that.

And I already made the bad writing complaint. The dialogue isn't good, and not just in delivery.

Oh come on Alienous. Was that really all you could say? Let's get some commentary in here. What would you have preferred? I'm not asking you to rewrite the scene, just to say what you think would have improved what was shown.

I really do like that Snyder isn't going with the documentary look like he did with MoS. I liked it in MoS but with a movie like this with huge icons, it needs more of a classic Snyder/Watchmen look.

It looks like the color has been boosted too.

I don't want all BvS threads to be some sort of DC utopia. I just want more level headed discussion and not driveby/junk posts like, oh, I don't know... these?

Batman looks like a fucking dork.

Fat middle-aged cosplayer.

I'm so sure the DC Cinematic Universe is fucked.

I hope this film isn't a bad as it's seeming to be.

Cavill kinda sucks, and I don't like the Batvoice at all. I actually prefer the bat-growl from TDK. I don't like how the movie looks either.

All this recent footage just hasn't been doing it for me at all.

It isn't that simple when you consider how many elements might go into make it work.

Superman's line doesn't sound natural. Part of that is the bland delivery, but I think another part is the structure of what he's saying and the two "it" 's. Then there's the dialogue being punctuated by "Bwarrm" 's.

Then there's referring to Batman as 'The Bat' instead of 'Batman' or 'You'. "Consider this mercy" is about the only part of Superman's dialogue I like.

But the mechanics of why I dislike it don't really matter. I just have an opinion on some footage.

I don't want all BvS threads to be some sort of DC utopia. I just want more level headed discussion and not driveby/junk posts like, oh, I don't know... these?

How about go to the first trailer thread and drag up the positive comments I've made about Batman v Superman?

And if you don't like my contributions to the threads ignore me. That's what that's for.

You'll be hardpressed to find one. Mostly because Marvel is on their A-game when it comes to releasing clips and promo-material to the public. The BvS trailers and clips are just bad, with a few exceptions; the scene with Bats at the signal and Supes floating in the air was badass, this teaser. Apparently, having an opinion that isn't "OMG THIS IS SO AMAZING IT'S BATMAN VS SUPERMAN WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT?" immediatly qualifies as "shitting on the movie" and being a Marvel-fanboy. Having a negative opinion about a clip is okay, it really is. It doesn't invalidate your opinion nor your ability to enjoy the clip.

Also, it's perfectly fine to develop an opinion on a movie based on the promo-material released by the studio, because that's what the material is for. Pixels' promo material was shit, and the movie was shit. Most of us figured that out, based on the promo-material, because that's what it's for. Now, I'm not saying a movie is shit, because it's promo-material is shit, but that stuff exists to let us glimpse into the movie a little bit before digesting the full thing, form an opinion on whether or not it's something you'd be interested to see.

You want to make this a Marvel vs DC discussion, fine, but bring the material yourself. Show us a bad trailer or clip for a Marvel-movie, and the overwhelmingly positive response to it on GAF.
