Probably being near the holiday season in the US helped Woolly World more I think. Dunno its NPD numbers but I bet a lot of its 1M sales came from the NA market.



I thought it would be getting Tropical Freeze numbers (great game but sold poorly because platformer without Mario) but it really is a good thing it is a million seller. Hopefully we'll see more games of this kind from Good Feel.

Wollly World sold more by 2015's end than Tropical Freeze by 2014's end despite a later release in Europe and Japan and a much later release in US compared to February, when DK came out

Xenoblade X has everything against it compared to the original (lower userbase, worse reception). it'd be really surprising to see it ahead of the original this quickly (with legs it might be doable if legs don't collapse in the west)

Nintendo actually told people about X's existence, so it has that going for it. That and some word of mouth after the well received original.

It sold more than it did last year. Last year it's two biggest releases MK and Smash released and most assumed that 2014 would be it's peak year.

Tropical Freeze and Wonderful 101 were released in a vacuum and sold very little.

i think i had it around 14m for lifetime sales. looks like that should be on the mark.

xb1: 60m
wii u: 14m

3ds: 64m
vita: 12m

and that was about six months ago. i think i might need to revise the ps4 upward and the xb1 downward by ten million each. everything else seems to be on track.

man, the 3DS is not even gonna reach GBA numbers once it's done selling at this rate and it's had close to twice as long to do that.

it's weird seeing 3DS continue collapsing but Wii U remaining flat. sure, the Wii U's sales are bad all around but it's not collapsing which is a bit surprising after how the holidays turned out. i guess Splatoon and Mario Maker's effect extended that far, unlike 2014's holiday games.

speaking of Splatoon, right now it's looking like the strongest Nintendo IP that isn't Mario, Pokemon or Zelda. this thing is incredible for now many things could have gone wrong.

3DS hitting almost 60m in the age of smartphone gaming is phenomenal though. It shows Nintendo know what the hell they're doing, despite the fact the 3DS is collapsing (it is towards the end of the life)

Yeah, 3DS sales have taken a nosedive since the beginning of 2014 and have shown no signs of recovery. Software sales held out an extra year but were down YoY all through 2015. It's lost all its momentum.
