Watchmen...

There are things I love and hate about Watchmen.

I appreciate your reference, though :D

SHH: I’ve always been fascinated by the marketing you’ve done for your movies because it’s always been something you’ve really excelled at, even from the first promos of “300” and “Watchmen” at Comic-Con. I was curious how involved in the marketing this time around you were able to be and wanted to be? Obviously, it’s very interesting from Comic-Con last year to the promotions. I was curious, are you still very much involved in the marketing of the movies you work on?

Snyder: Yeah, I am intentionally involved in all the marketing, and Jen Horvath, she basically, when we had to do the trailer, I moved her right into my editing suite. She cut the trailer with me because I really wanted to make the trailer personal to the movie and Jen is amazing. She’s cut quite a bunch of trailers for me in the past. We cut all of the trailer for “Man of Steel” in the office with me. It was definitely not the traditional like, “Oh, this must be what the trailer companies figure out for the trailer.”

He talks about doing it for a lot of his films. E.g here he says as such for MOS

You could probably find more for different films.

Had a look at your link and....

He worked with the marketing team. They didn't loan it out to a third party 'trailer house'. This is pretty standard fare. The marketing team still has to approve and co-ordinate everything.

In my mind, I don't call myself Bruce...

The real Batman right here.

Synder is not good for Superman, but goddamn he can direct a Batman film anytime.

Yeah I can agree with this. I hate just about everything he touches when it comes to Superman but his Batman looks pretty good.

Even in this trailer, I was on board until the moment it stopped focusing on Batman and then I no longer liked what I was seeing.

Well when we say that he "cut the trailer" that obviously doesn't mean he was some one-man show doing the whole thing in Premiere Pro and After Effects himself, the film itself isn't even edited that way.

Well I assume that's the kind of thing the other poster was talking about. Snyder clearly wasn't 100% with the last trailer so the other poster speculated a difference.

I am really glad that we had so many trailers, but if you take all scenes and count them, it's not actually that long. I would guess under 10 minutes from 160 minutes.

This is the first trailer that has gotten me pumped for this film. Dat Batman fighting. I like Synder fight scenes. Still not sold on Affleck, but I will give him the benefit of the doubt and not go in looking to be disappointed. Dude deserves a chance at Bats.

That's what people said that he 'cut the trailer'. I'd be very, very surprised if Snyder got final cut of the film itself never mind cutting his own trailers.

There are directors that cut their own trailers. Tarantino, Paul Thomas Anderson, etc... Not many, but they do exist.

That's fair enough, but the two examples you named don't often work within the 'large studio' system like Snyder does and when they do "(PTA on Inherent Vice) they work with the marketing team.

Who cares, everyone should just get WB's marketing team to cut their trailers because holy shit

fixed.

The thing about that .gif is that it almost seems like its not finished. If you look, when Batman hits the guy, his arm flails out, and it looks like the gun should go off accidentally and shoot the guy who magically "slips" and falls. Its almost like they forgot to add that detail on the gun and CGI the shot going out.

What about the guy with the pistol holding his arm out so that Batman can kick his arm?
That's the bullshit part.

Anyone else notice the big shift in tone for this trailer? It was way more upbeat and "fun" than previous trailers.

I, for one, like the "dark" tone of Man of Steel and the previous BvS trailers. However, the media seems to have a field day every time new footage releases for this movie, dragging out the phrase "grim dark" whenever they can.

I think WB's marketing team caught on, and this trailer is a deliberate attempt to be way less "grim dark." Even the scene of Henry Cavill climbing into the tub with Amy Adams ($10 says there's a gag where he breaks the tub using his super strength) seems more light hearted than anything previous.

I have to say, I actually really dig it. I'm hoping this is the marketing they push for Justice League, especially given characters like Flash and (hopefully) Hal Jordan who are supposed to be more whimsical.

The last trailer was the one everyone complained was "too comedic", are you thinking of the one before that? The first full trailer sold the film as a dramatic film, the next one sold it as an Avengers-style action/comedy, and this one is selling it as a balls to the walls action flick. This has been some surprisingly unfocused marketing.

Didn't look good at all.

The action sequences look like batman is performing wrestling moves on the thugs and was cringe worthy.
His suit also looks like garbage

Seems no one can get it right like Winter Solider did.

The tone in this trailer was heavier than the end of the last trailer, which had moments that felt like they were missing a laugh track

WB has yet to release this officially, something tells me this was leaked but since it wasn't some shitty bootleg they let it pass.

Still looks stupid but I'll see it anyway because what the fuck eh

Batman action looks nice I guess? Zack Snyder blows

Miles better trailer than the previous one.

Liked Batman's fight scene. I would've shed tears if BatBale had moved and fought so nicely.

Wonder Woman! Her smile, so kawaii!!
