Thanks, still around 10 people missing but either we'll figure it out via Steam, or the people get disqualified based on not showing up in the first week. We'll see.
 
I'm in. FS name is OmegaDragon. I've played only one MP game, thanks to a GAF thread during one of the Steam sales (also started by Toma?). And I won!

Heads up for the schedule:

From monday on, every participant will have 1 week to play 3-4 matches.
Same for the week after, so its basically 6-8 matches in 2 weeks. I dont care if you finish all those 8 group matches within 1 day either.

This shouldnt be a big problem as you can just start all matches at the same time and with 1 move per day should easily cruise to finishing your matches.

Any game that does not get finished on time will count as a loss for the missing person after those 2 weeks.
 
If there is someone who would like to participate but doesn't own the game, PM me. There is still time to get the hang of it over the weekend before Monday.
 
Going to post the rules and play brackets tomorrow. Until then I am trying to figure out why Youtube upload doesnt work anymore. Does it still work for anyone?

Might be an authentication thing, where FS is not secure enough to go through or something, but wth.
 
I can't upload from in-game anymore, but recording in offline mode and then manually uploading the video clip from a browser only takes an extra minute.

Yeah, we'll probably do that then. If all things break, others can still post the match ID and I can upload the matches.

Hey everyone :) I am super pleased we actually get to have our third ever Frozen Synapse GAF tournament! Please read the following rules closely, as there are some oddities for balancing sake.


1. First off: Rules

Game Mode:
Group Phase:
  • Dark Extermination, with no settings changed
  • 2 matches with each group member (6 matches for you in a group of 4)
  • 3 points per win, 1 point per draw
  • Soldiers killed/lost ratio decides if 2 players have the same points at the end of group phase
  • Best 2 in each group advance. #1 will get to play a #2 player from another group. (random draw)
Elimination Phase:
  • Dark Extermination, with no settings changed
  • Best 2 out of 3
  • In case of a draw after 2 matches, create game mode "Calliope" (Dark Extermination symmetrical tourney map) for the third, decisive match
  • If the third match is another draw, make Calliope matches until you have a winner.

Time:
  • max 2 weeks for the group phase, ca. 2 weeks for elimination
  • If it takes too long, the one not responding (make sure to mention here if you contacted someone who does not respond) will get eliminated.
  • Feel free to communicate via Steam/PM about coordinating 30-60 minutes play sessions
  • Read your PM's!

3. Reporting Format:
Please use the following format to report a match (as a rule of thumb: the winner reports the match):

Feel free to use your own youtube channel, ask me for the FSGAF login, or just leave the YT link empty and add the Game ID, so I can do the upload.

4. Trouble Shooting:
  • Random Units: If you do not start with identical units, cancel & hide the match and create a new one
  • Random Positions: Some starting positions arent symmetrically fair, but it usually evens out a bit over multiple games. Random starting positions, are NOT a reason for a restart. Make the best from what you have. We cant avoid any randomness currently.
  • Draws: In case of the third match being a draw, make new matches until someone wins.
  • Existing match: If you accidentally already have an ongoing match with someone from your group, this one doesnt count towards the tournament. Only matches who were made after I posted this post do count.
