Nintendo doesn't get enough praise for their game launches

Nintendo really does a great job getting their game ready for launch without HUGE day one patches to fix the game and broken online out the gate.

Mk8, Splatoon, Pokken, Smash had flawless launches.

Good job Nintendo.

I know there is going to be a joke about there is only one Wii U owner in the whole world.

Sigh

On the topic, I also like that they release stuff on Friday's. Nothing like picking up Pokemon on a Friday and having the weekend

MK8 had pretty awful disconnect issues. Better now but people would drop after a few games at launch.

Smash was laggy unless everyone had a perfect connection, dunno if that's fixed as I was tired of a quarter of the matches feeling unplayable.

It's a sad state of affairs where a product you've bought simply working, or rather not being actively on fire is somehow worthy of praise.

When Smash 4 3DS launched in Japan it would auto ban Peach users that pulled items up with their down special because it thought they were hacking.

Pokebank was taken down for an entire month at launch due to server issues, and delayed outside of Japan.

Same here usually when most of the game releases are on a tuesday I never have time to play them since I usually have to work and go to school during the week so the only time I ever have to really play is on the weekend.

Hopefully more companies try and follow suit.

No one deserves praise for doing the bare minimum.

That's like spending the afternoon with someone and expecting a cookie because you didn't rob them when you could have.

I do love the Friday releases. Wish all games would love to that. Great way to end a work week.

Pokémon Bank first day was only released in Japan and it crashed the eShop for everyone.
So two besides two separate times Nintendo has done a great job with those dozens of other games they publish every year.

Launch server issues don't bother me much as they're to be expected, as long as it doesn't drag on like a Driveclub debacle.

The only thing that I truly appreciate is that Nintendo's online service is free, so I can tolerate the antiquated functionalities or occasional server outage. Even then, I only remember two occurrences of serious problems (launch of Pokémon X/Y and Japanese launch of Pokémon Bank + eShop NNID linking on 3DS). Meanwhile you see threads about other online services' malfunctions every other week on NeoGAF.

However, I don't see Nintendo criticized enough for its pathetic handling of cheaters. On Wii, 3DS and even now Wii U you start seeing hackers online and Nintendo doesn't ban them or give you tools to report them.

Wii U development is nothing compared to PS4/Xbox1

isn't Wii U development on last gen principles... not huge budget...

PS3 and Xbox360 game launches never had such issues either.
