Uncharted 4 preview thread. New footage/info

Can we have some comparisons to MGS V open world here? I still haven't played the game, but the gameplay videos I've seen of that look very impressive to me from an environmental stand point. It's going to interesting to see how Uncharted 4 comapares, even if MGS V was running at 60FPS.

It will be invalid to some precisely because it's running at 30 fps instead of 60 like MGSV.

God damn, son

We haven't seen as many cinematic TPS this gen as last so not many to compare to (still probably wasn't needed in that Ars Tech preview). Also many compares The Division to Destiny AssCreed to Batman/Shadow of Mordor, Watch Dogs to GTA etc, so yes plenty of multi platform games gets compared.

Agreed, however, it was not needed, at all. It is an UC4 preview. What the fuck, outside of bias, clicks, and warz does anyone give a shit about how a QB comparison for facial animation in an UC4 preview thread?

It just adds more weight to their already sensational and annoying more often than not game coverage.

Especially with the terminology used. Now we are all talking about it(them). Good job Arsetechnica.

How about having some solid coverage and rise above with talent, instead of resorting to the easy way out to make up for your clear shortcomings in the field.

Oh boy! Not sure I am ready, lol.

The Kinda Funny video touches on this a bit. Tim actually made the comparison and said that the vast open space with small potential battles riddled around really felt similar to him. I'm sure the increased combat variety (i.e. Stealth, Run & Gun, or somewhere in between) for Uncharted 4 helps also.

Don't know how I feel about this... getting a bit sick of open world being dumped into everything. I didn't find the open world'y segments of the footage to look very entertaining whatsoever. Just completely standard stuff. I come to Uncharted for a rollercoaster linear ride, not rolling around an area finding collectables.

Just give it to me NOW!!!

I will say that the optional stealth sections are very similar to TLOU especially with regards to enemy AI. Still, I don't really care since UC isn't a stealth series.

It's called pacing, and it's there so you're not on a robotic action spree from beginning to end.

Completely agree, was mostly just responding to whether or not multi platform games gets compared. That QB seemed very out of the blue though, almost like "hey remember this amazing MS exclusive is releasing this month -preorder at Gamestop" But like many have said we shouldn't read to much into it.

In order to have a rollercoaster ride you also need your lows, if everything is at 11 at all time its going to be very dull.

This game is still linear just more bigger compared to the previous Uncharted's.

Read the previews. It's not open world.

Quick and dirty comparison.

Doesn't mean if some devs using real actors for real characters in some game, facials would be better.

Does that also mean experience is better because game has real actors? No.

I litteraly don't say either of those two things. I said that QB's facial animations are really impressive, especially the lip synching. And because you can compare with real actors you notice even harder.

No doubt in my mind Uncharted 4 will look way better in the end, the evidence is here. And I'm quite sure the game will be a lot better too (I didn't enjoy QB all that much, it has some cool action, but a lot of flaws). Allthough I will only be able to confirm the latter when I acually play the damn thing.

And that day can't come soon enough. Uncharted is one of my favourite game series, and ND is withouth a doubt my favourite dev. Bring it on.

Yeah, they are suspect as shit. Ah well.

I'm not a big sucker of open worlds too (I feel they are often not justified), but these look like big hubs still pushing you in one direction, and opening up the gameplay in meaningful ways. Also, it will finaly get some real adventuring in Uncharted.

Pretty sure open stuff like this quickly narrows for a set piece, then to open up again. ND is a master in pacing...

I hope there will be an option to turn-off motion blur like in TLOU, I'm getting dizzy just watching this preview footage heh

It's not open world. Think of the larger areas in MGS3 maybe.

They said in the BTS videos it is still linear, except you have a wider space to get from A to B, and sometimes multiple paths. And you have stealth as an option.
here we go, lol

It's not a joke, I can supply plenty of 1440p screens, it's just a comparison for comparison's sake. MGSV is an amazing looking game, and still Uncharted bests it in some ways too.
