Uncharted 4 preview thread. New footage/info

Damn, love that gif.

I love how there are different approaches for a single encounter. I've watched 3 different videos and saw 3 different approaches. One of the guys in the Kinda Funny video mentioned how after he cleared the area, a truck full of backup pulled up and he had to fight them off as well.

I love the stuff they added to the game, but it looks like Naughty Dog hasn't fixed the combat, which is a huge part of the game. You don't have to play the full game to understand that the combat is still cumbersome. Besides, Uncahrted 2 the Uncharted games haven't really had good combat mechanics so it's a little disappointing that this game follows suit.

Naughty Dog really doesn't innovate they take stuff from other games and wrap it up with an amazing blockbuster story. I love that they borrowed the marking element from Metal Gear, but may be they should have borrowed some of the fluid combat. Oh well, most of us will just have to work through the cumbersome combat to see the spectacle.

You know TLOU mp had tagging enemies way before MGSV so whose borrowing from whom? And Battlefield before that... This MGSV did it first mentality is really annoying.

How about Crysis in 2007? Surely something else did it before that

Yep, I'm just giving examples, I was trying to think of others but those were the first that came to mind. But journalists aren't helping by repeating Metal Gear in their comparisons... kindafunny did it, and I was like... WHY? Plenty of other games use the mechanic, MGSV hardly made it original/created it in the first place. All I can think of is setting and it's a recent game.

The way the truck handles the off road terrain is amazing. They've made it it's own traversal puzzle like Mate's climbing and I love it.

Tom Clancy's Games... Splinter Cell I think it did it and... the one with the war in Mexico? Ghost Recon! haha I really didn't remember the name until just now while writing this.

looks really good, this is how a series should improve with a generational leap besides just the better graphics. Gameplay looks much improved with more variety.

Crossposting from the QB review thread. I just really love the gamesmanship here. ND's preview embargo ending today was certainly no coincidence. I didn't expect the preview heat to be so stifling though:

I am really excited for this and have been awaiting the OT like many. Meanwhile, Naughty Dog is trolling (as friendly as can be) Remedy by ending a major embargo today.

Seeing 5+ threads for uncharted 4 pop the day before QB really highlights the difference in excitement about the two titles. We don't even have an OT for QB let alone much hype on these boards.

As an owner of both consoles I have no "dog" in this fight. I just wanted to highlight ND's masterclass trolling
marketing 101

I think that the most vocal popularity of a game is when reviews are out because most of the time people can't play the game. Since QB had their reviews out several days ago... well... people don't have much to say anymore until they can actually play the game tomorrow.

Wow, the game looks absolutely amazing, can't wait to get my hands on it.

Gotta finish Uncharted 3 first though, then I'll be all caught up and ready to fly.

Is there a video where the player inspects a treasure ? Given the fair amount of dialogues and interactions this game has, I wonder if Nathan Drake will now comment on the treasures he finds like, let's say, Miss Croft.

The dialogue system is so natural and well-integrated. I like how it adapts to the player's actions like when you decide to wander off. I'll spend a lot of time listening to Sully's stories.

A bit of popping here, but I like Nate's ziplining animation.

Calling it now. Drake ends up killing Sam (because he either threatened or actually killed Elena or Sully) and the game ends on a semi-sad to an outright sad note depending on which of these scenarios happened.

I wouldn't mind that, don't trust Sam at all, this opinion is based on next to nothing but I'm still wary, or he is an imposter.

That is a really good point. At this point people are just waiting to play it. Not much else to say. I just really love seeing the play back and forth on Twitter between the two and that got me to thinking about why today was the right day to release the previews. It all makes too much sense, lol.

They do something different with the winch towards the end of the vid to get the bridge to collapse on TwoSixNine vid. It's interesting cause on KindaFunny they discussed if it was possible.

That's really neat, the one thing I like the most about ND games are their attention to detail and putting in consideration some of the things an average player will do in a given situation versus what a dev wants to do.

Wow just wow how the physics are so accurate in this game, how much force and momentum needed to break pillar by pillar in the other videos and a greater ones to break both at the same time which made the jeep go nuts in half circles here.

"I didn't want to have a laugh at someone’s expense," adding that, "I thought we’d matured beyond that."

"We actually had the whole thing modelled and in there," explains Druckmann, concluding that the team, "decided to make the call not to do it." A choice that was made internally: "we had a big debate about it and kind of approached it from all kinds of angles and decided we weren't comfortable having it in our game"
