Wii U has arguably the best library right now and it's deader than dead.
I still say that the shared library idea doesn't make any real sense or offer any benefit over just going with a hybrid or even handheld-only. They just end up with one piece of hardware being useless. The shared library kills any chance of third-party support and reduces the attach rate, so what's the point? I don't see it.
See, my brain tells me not to jump at another Nintendo system day 1 and get burned again. But showing games like Animal Crossing with a concrete release date and my heart will make me be there day 1 lol.
Retail space is still relevant at the moment too. So having one Nintendo aisle helps. Unification is the best path for them and consumers honestly.a shared library means one focus on marketing and promotion at stores. minimum order quantities and reorders would be easier across one platform instead of two (if you were say the developers of shovel knight, for instance). there's no guarantee that one platform would become obsolete while the other would succeed either. obviously one would outperform the other in the market, but as long as the form factors serve different functions, consumers would be given the choice to get what they want, and have access to the same library. a wider consumer base would only increase the opportunities for third-party games as well.
Always wondered; how do people find out how long someone's banned for? Particularly in this case since he deleted his twitter?
Wii u paper Mario will be released on NX day one
Boom
I disagree. It had no real 3D Mario, just a sequel to 3D Land, and everything else just felt safe and boring. I was never compelled to buy it even though I'm a big Nintendo fan.
More impressive than the Wii U's lineup over 3-4 years means its entire lineup. So here's a complete list of games Nintendo published for Wii U worldwide at retail:

That's almost 40 games. Somehow I doubt NX's library can be more impressive than that in the span of a year.
Even if the NX controller gets a built-in screen, why would the NXs main gimmick the hardwares biggest selling point be an enhanced, improved version of Nintendos worst selling console ever? Satoru Iwata said NX is not a replacement for Wii U and 3DS. Tatsumi Kimishima said NX is not the next version of Wii or Wii U its something unique and different. Lets not also forget that Kimishima warned that Wii U was too similar to the Wii.
And how exactly are these NX games going to stream from anywhere outside of your house to this controller that wont have any processing capabilities ? Will Nintendo provide some type of streaming service (that wont require a monthly subscription) to make all of this magically happen? The information that 10ks sources provided on the gimmick just didnt make sense.

If only they would localize Mother 3.
That part of the article is clearly her opinion. People shouldn't put much stock in that kind of statement as the quality of the Wii U library will differ person to person.
I usually am a big Emily Rogers fan but she went way too far out of her way to couch her statements
Expect a ton of games....oh, unless they are delayed...and oh, maybe they won't be announced at E3...oh and I'm talking about the entire lifespan of the NX
No real reason to doubt her, but with all those disclaimers she basically said absolutely nothing. "Expect a lot of software, maybe, and eventually". Alrighty.
Plus Captain Toad
If only they would localize Mother 3.
You tell me why 3rd parties would even be interested , if said system does not bring millions of new consumers into the fold?
There is 0 reason for them to split their usual consumer base from the 2 consoles now, onto 3, that is just added costs to port for them.

Not buying it. Before I sold my WiiU last month, I played less than a dozen games in my entire time owning it. Unless Nintendo has reorganized their entire company and discovered a secret to game production, it won't be enough to make the NX worthwhile for me.
I know, I'm just posting that there because people vastly underestimate the Wii U's library which is annoying.

Eh. It's pretty standard really.
Super Paper Mario, Barrel Blast, Twilight Princess, and I thiiiink Fire Emblem 10 were all Gamecube games moved to Wii.
Pikmin 3 was a Wii game moved to Wii U.
Even outside of Nintendo, there are countless examples. Sega had a bunch of their early GCN/PS2/Xbox games begin on Dreamcast if I heard right.
I have a question...
Nintendo's always put in a lot of time with their games so how are they going to all of a sudden put in quality title after quality title if they couldn't do it before? I'm very curious about this. What's changed with Nintendo and their situations that's caused them to do this? I know Iwata has passed but there must be some major shake-ups in that company to cause these changes if it hasn't happened prior.

With the comments about Nintendo's upcoming large line-up, lack of droughts and a great amount of first-party games for the NX, what does that say about these games and their development? Emily casually brushes off NX hardware spec, does it mean that Nintendo is gonna release a $350 XBoxOne tier console?
On topic, i hope high software output doesn't mean b/c with selected WiiU library. or easier to port mobile games. or Free to start games...

*List*
Internal restructuring has combined various groups into single units in order to streamline development, one can assume they're also utilizing their development partners to create more games using their IP, something that was scarcely done before the Wii U period, but now is being done a lot more.
I imagine part of their restructuring is based around( as often rumored) creating content that is playable on both their home and handheld consoles,in whatever form this takes with NX instead of supporting two different systems with unique libraries.
If the architecture of the console is the same as the Ps4 and Xbone then developers/publishers will flock to the console just to expand their own demographic with minimal effort. Nintendo will benefit, their fans will benefit and the creators will benefit. It's not rocket science it's just marketing.
This latest info (if it's even real) has me believe they think they were onto a winning formula with the Wii U but they just didn't get the games out fast enough. WRONG!!
Everything but that is an opinion I do not agree with. Now should we fight it out or just bow down in front of the glory that is Captain Toad?
Weird what people read into things.
"Good specs, but not Exactly as 10k mentioned"=weaker than Xbox One
"Good 1st party support"=rushed first party titles;no 3rd parties
She hasn't said any of that, focusing on increasing the number of exclusives should be a good thing, no?
Right now Nintendo's output is roughly 9/12 exclusives (console/handheld) per year.
If they can bump that number up to 15 on each that would certainly feel better.
Nintendo puts out a lot games but if you don't own both systems you feel like you're not getting a full experience, hopefully they aim to fix this issue as stated in the article
I really hope Verendus tease of FFVI pans out , how hype would it be for this to be at E3?
