Uncharted 4 - A Thief's |Reviews Thread| Nateness Awaits

Don't see a game on the horizon this year to challenge Uncharted 4 as an overall GOTY package. No Bloodborne or Witcher 3 level stuff in sight. Stuff like Overwatch will be great but it's only 'half' a package. The Last Guardian will probably be super interesting but with mechanics a bit all over the place. Horizon and Zelda are now 2017.
Somebody hasn't played Dark Souls III

i was hyped anyway, but the universal positivity surrounding this game is making me downright giddy. it's like the last of us all over again :D

Let's be honest, is there anybody who will purchase this because of the scores? Is there anybody who won't purchase it because of the scores?

Didn't think so. So let's have it then.

Me. Even though I'm a fan of Uncharted and absolutely loved The Last of Us, I wasn't all that interested in Uncharted 4. Seeing these great scores and impressions has me thinking about picking the game up on Tuesday.

I know, I almost mentioned it instead, but while I thought QB was a competent, technically impressive, but boring TPS, TR2013 had writing and acting so bad I get actually offended when it gets compared favorably to Uncharted.

But yeah, I'm disappointed in Jim as well, but not as surprised since he never liked Uncharted that much.

But you said she gave ROTTR a 9.3, did you play it?

nor does it magically worse

Not saying it does, I don't speak German so I don't know how the reviewer elaborated on their point but its unfair to call them out on making a valid comment. Being more open doesn't make things better unless its done well which according to them it could be done better.

What show is Druckmann in?

Nier Automata

That development team

I think people need to make a seperation between their personal picks for GOTY and what the media is likely to pick((which is what being discussed here). I doubt any gaming media would give Nier a GOTY award, except maybe edge(and even that is unlikely because of DS3).

I don't think it's out of the question to say Naughty Dog has innovated in the story telling, acting, and narrative based gaming side of the industry. They are literally unmatched when it comes to character expression and attention to detail. I don't think they innovated the third person shooter/adventure game- but they definetely had a hand in shaping the way we tell stories, capture performances, and convey emotions in games.

Crash helped define PS1 and Uncharted + TLOU helped define PS3. Not hyperbole.

And how is Uncharted 4 "redefining" this generation of videogames, exactly?

lol, you dicks actually made me look it up. I didn't think he was Savage, but the resemblance is close enough to have made me question it.

I'm all for impressions, it's having to put the finality of a number on an experience that does my head in.

I guess I'm aligning myself to Eurogamer here, and fair play to them for standing up to the convention. I applaud the line of thinking that encourages a review to be a 2-way thing; the writer and the reader having an asymmetrical conversation.

If it achieves the type of leap that Uncharted 2 did over its predecessor, then I think it's a dark horse.

FFXV too if it delivers on the hype. And maybe Mafia 3 if it's not a technical mess.
