Visually, it's a pretty damn impressive film.

Yep...its a damn shame too. That movie reminded me so much of the original show, but never lost sight of being a good work on its own either.
Def the best big budget live action anime adaption ever done

Eh, I guess Tomb Raider just resonated with the IGN reviewer more. She might be in the minority with her opinion, but I'm in the minority in thinking Speed Racer is one of the best movies ever. Sometimes certain works speak to individuals in a different way than the majority.
That bar is so high hum?
Nah, Speed Racer is legit good. The reason most people hate it is because of the jarring visuals (and probably Sprital and ChimChim). But that's a discussion for another threadThere's what I would consider good "crap" films. These films I enjoy, but I wouldn't go as far as referring to the best ever, lol.
Good example for me: Shoot 'em up
IGN Portugal and IGN Zimbabwe 10/10 reviews incoming.

U4's gunplay is a lot better than TR's (that's not to say it's the best, IMO Max Payne 3's is still top tier for me), graphics is a no contest.
TR tried to do TLOU's open approach to encounters, and I thought it was okay, but U4 brings it up a notch. Even without the open world compares to TR, U4's environments are HUGE. I watched KindaFunny's review and totally agree with the first playthrough, where you take a path thinking it's the correct one, but it turns out to just be a detour with enemies and/or treasure to find. My second playthrough was much shorter, knowing where to go, just like TLOU. TR has nothing on that.
I'm not upset about the IGN review, just wanted to say my thoughts about the two games. IMO U4 is a 9.5 while TR is 8.5. U4, as a package, is just much, much better.
The irony is that this specific individual's review, like any review for other games....
They end up indirectly affecting sales of games, and determining whether or not game developers get bonuses or not, or whether or not they can get a contract to make another game.
It's amazing how powerful the review system is in the gaming segment. I always find the relationship between game publishers and game reviewers to be incredibly suspicious and at risk for abuse from all sides.

Yes 4 of them so far.Do any of these add to metacritic?
So have any of the reviews mentioned if you can have multiple saves?
Wife wants to play the game before me and I don't want to watch her play damn it!
The reaction to the ign review shows how much the gaming community needs to grow up.
Some shameful shit.
I honestly think people really want some wild reactions..nothing here is outlandish sure a couple people are harping on it but nothing crazy. So I don't get why every few pages somebody has to go thereThe reaction to the ign review shows how much the gaming community needs to grow up.

Ah gotcha my mistake was in a gaf bubble lol. O I know off here there's a bloodbathI'm not talking about neogaf in particular.
Yeah. I think reviews are fine, but everyone needs to drop numbered scores. It just causes controversy. Just tell us if its good or bad, and tell us why.Review Scores are dumb. Aggregate sites like Metacritic are dumb but unavoidable. It's so lame.
It's funny how big sites with lower review scores will actually get read/scanned but a high review score will be glossed over after just looking at the number. So much emphasis on the damn number and not the actual content of the review.

We're talking about IGN review since people who played the game disagree with the review. No meltdown or anything like U3 but every pages we have something like this

The content for most reviews suck because they generally aren't descriptive enough to me and gloss over details that matter. They're often vague in their criticism. I had this issue with reviews for ModNation Racer's for the PS3. Surprisingly (and you wouldn't know it from all the comments that generally shit on him), Greg Miller gave an actual accurate description of the gameplay and why it worked well, telling me exactly what I needed to know.

Why do all those satellite IGN sites have their own reviews, but IGN proper, UK, and AU collectively just publishes one review?
I'm aware. I just feel like if people actually read reviews then they would realize how dumb metacritic is. I've seen dozens of reviews for games with mixed scores but the actual content of said reviews were overall positive even sometimes much more positive then higher marked games. Metacritic is literally a bane on the industry. Needs to die.
Films reviews can be competitive, but even that seems to usually only happen over what might be called the "nerd" stuff like Marvel vs DC films.Other media have review aggregation sites like that, but I think gaming is unique in turning reviews into some kind of competitive circle jerking. Maybe I'm wrong, and somewhere there's a thread where people are praying for meltdowns over the upcoming Michelin Guide ratings.
It is what it is cant change their minds.I know it's irrational, but it absolutely does frustrate me that the main IGN site gave Uncharted 4 below a 9 and that the Podcast Beyond guys were kinda down on the game. This is the biggest Playstation game of the generation and the Playstation guys on the biggest gaming site on the Web were way more negative than the vast majority of the industry. It's disappointing to see for someone who listens to their podcasts and would have enjoyed listening to some hype rather than the muted tone toward the game that will likely persist between now and game of the year talks at the end of the year. Especially since many others are calling the game one of the best in this generation. Oh well. It almost certainly won't get Game of the Year on the Web's biggest gaming site and will be underappreciated. That's a shame.
This game is the reason I bought a PS4. I have it preordered at amazon, but if I preorder through PSN is there a good chance I can start playing it Monday night?
When do these normally unlock on PS? 9 pst?

So you don't want them to rate the game based on how they feel about it, but by how it's positioned in the market and some sort of brand loyalty. Irrational is only the tip of the iceberg.
The crying i'm seeing over that IGN 8.8 is laughable man. What world are we in when an 8 point fucking 8 is bad. People would hate me if I reviewed games professionally.
You're not talking about here are you?
Nah. More of around the web and on Twitter.
