Hillary Clinton to CNN: "I will be the nominee"

If Sanders had any shot (or interest?) in being her running mate, he would have dropped out weeks ago at the minimum.

Bernie was never going to be VP.

VP is effectively a stepping stone to be president. Bernie is 74 years old; he would not be running for president at 78 or 82. This is going to his first and last shot at the White House, which is probably not an insignificant factor in his decision to keep running.

That's far more myth than reality.
Also, you're gonna offend 95% of this forum.

lol im one of the biggest hillary supporters on this board.

There were reports of her throwing lamps and other white house furniture during her first lady days. it doesnt mean she's a bad person. if anything i like Angry Hillary.

What is his message? That it's okay for a small but vocal mob to subvert the will of the people? No thanks.

seriously i'd love an answer to this that wasn't the same old snakeoil horseshit sanders himself keeps peddling

Seriously? Some of you are ridiculous. Equating Trump and Clinton as somehow equally horrible is a major disservice to advancing the causes of millions of people who desperately need the most help. Minorities/women/LGBT/the working poor. Talk about living in a delusional and selfish bubble. Very disappointed in you, GAFers.

it's the same 1-3 people every single fucking thread, don't sweat it

Honestly, I can't believe I'm saying this, but I believe you're far more prone to being attacked by strawmen than I am, which is quite a feat!

You have my condolences.

haha. It would be funny if it wasn't so predictably depressing. :P

What is his message? That it's okay for a small but vocal mob to subvert the will of the people? No thanks.

bam. haha.

He's still relatively new compared to Hillary. She's had a target on her back for 30 years--which does wonders for favorables.

Republicans are not going to touch Bernie because he's a non-factor at this point. Trump has been attacking Hillary almost exclusively because the GOP knows she will be the nominee.

But if Republicans really want to hurt Sanders, oh boy.

This is an interesting discussion worth having.
"wonders for favorables" Sarcastic? Her favorability ratings are terrible haha (fairly or unfairly it is a fact).

I do think Bernie's favorability ratings would go down. Hillary has already been on the sights for a while, and has clearly been damaged. Sanders has about a 20 point lead. Again, this will go down, but by how much and how quickly? Have Hillary's hit their floor? I'm not sure.

Sadly we will never know both possible outcomes :P

She played a leading role in the development of State Children’s Health Insurance Program, which provides the much-needed state support for children whose parents cannot afford nor provide them with adequate healthcare coverage.

Right but what exciting has she done? How many banks has she personally broken up? How many students did she give free tuition to directly?

I very clearly said that it's not every Bernie supporter. And I'm not nervous at all, because I'm aware of reality and how all of this works. You're only proving my point.
I apologize; I misread your post.

Your condescension still isn't a good look, though.

oh she's a total bitch, but that's not a bad quality to have in a president.

after obama, we need a ball busting president who can get things done. obama couldnt get anything passed in a republican congress. i think Hillary being the mean old bitch that she is made out to be by the republicans could actually get things done.

I'm a person of context in speech, and I think you're trying tot voice that Clinton has the power to show the GOP its place and stand firm, but come on, couldn't you have chosen a better word? It's just not appropriate.

I have no issues with booing the democratic party (as long as you boo the Republican party more)

Bernie s message has never been a particularly partisan one. Many Democrats don't like that. To his base that's part of his appeal..

you have no issue with booing the mainstream party that heavily aligns with your platform almost entirely? a party that actually has the power and influence to enact progressive policies (and has)?

you really don't see the nonsensical counter-productivity in booing the democratic party... when you're a liberal... in today's political climate? this is a serious question. a boo isn't "i disagree with a couple things you are doing but there is room to grow and evolve," a boo is "fuck your shit"

Why do gaffers like her so much? She honestly seems like she would be a little mean :)

She's a social liberal but pro-corporate and authoritarian. That resonates with a lot of people, for some reason?

The mean part, well shit, you've got to be a little mean to succeed in American politics. I do know that as First Lady she was difficult to work with, though.

Little success? The success he has had has been nothing short of extraordinary. Give some credit.

I'm afraid for the future of my country. I hate Trump and Clinton. Now polls are showing Trump likely beating Clinton in the general. Sucks.

Yes he's been far more successful than he had any right to be. Frankly it's good to know people favor the issues he brings up.

But it never had a chance. His policies would never have seen the light of day and his Presidency would essentially be a 4 year fight having accomplished nothing.

When giving medical care to 9/11 first responders is a years long fight what do you think is going to happen? What magical powers does Bernie possess?

Clinton = liberal SCOTUS nom. If LGBT rights, women's rights matter to you, there's only one vote you can make. It sucks, but that is the reality.

Personally I'd vote Obama President for life if given the option, but... real world and all.

Is this the narrow path Huelen is referring to?:

Steve Kornacki from MSNBC said that Bernie needs to exceed 75% in all remaining Primaries, tie in New Jeresy (because it is impossible for Sanders to win NJ) and then he would need to win 80% of California

some steep hill, more like vertical skyscraper

"wonders for favorables" Sarcastic? Her favorability ratings are terrible haha (fairly or unfairly it is a fact).

yes sarcastic :) Her favorables are indeed bad.

But Bernie is pretty much the Republican capitalist boogieman incarnate--their dream opponent. So yes, Bernie's favorables have tons of room to sink.

Her policies are more likely to achieve something and are not far removed from reality. She also wants to help dems win seats in congress which would be a real political revolution.

Breadline Bernie was never really vetted by anyone. The media is only now calling him on his shit cuz of the recent bullshit from his side.

Clinton = liberal SCOTUS nom.

Bernie would have been the same thing, though. Unless we retake Congress, the job of the next president is going to be the same as Obama's- do what you can to advance the progressive agenda through the courts and executive orders. Congress isn't going to work with Clinton any more than they would Sanders, lol.

All Dems want to retake Congress, Sanders included. As for policies, see above.

"Its fine to fuck over the voters as long as Bernie wins"

I believe most of us Bernie supporters are aware of the fact that we aren't going to win. Hell, we progressives aren't used to winning anyway.

What is unacceptable to us is Hillary Clinton's milquetoast record on labor rights, lgbt rights and her bellicose record both in the senate and as secretary of state.

We're continuing to get loads of press and publicity which I hope will draw attention to the issues that we care about.

Why is Huelen10 not a real person? Because she's transgendered?

Because Heulen's posts are nonsensical with no logical follow through and we spend way too much time in every thread trying to understand them.

What is unacceptable to us is Hillary Clinton's milquetoast record on [...] lgbt rights

Ah yes, LGBT champion Bernie Sanders who didn't support a non-discrimination ordinance as a mayor Burlington and told the VT state legislature not to pass gay marriage because it'd be too divisive. And then tries to say that his vote against DOMA was about gay rights when his entire floor speech talked entirely about federalism.

Not to say that Hillary's past is cleaner (it's not), but her work on LGBT rights as Secretary of State is one of her greatest achievements.

A few things that I think are good things to implant into the American consciousness.

Healthcare as a right.
Affordable/free public college.
A government that works for the citizens and not donors.
Getting involved in politics.
Increasing the minimum wage.
Problems with our current campaign financing.
Supreme court nominees that would overturn citizens united.
Moral problems with private prisons.
Issues with our criminal justice system.
legalization of weed.
Holding police who kill unarmed civilians accountable.
Having a police force that represents the communities they police.
Seeing immigration through the lens of social justice.
recognition of the injustices in Palestine
unconditional support for a woman's right to choose
Iraq war was a disaster
Death penalty is always immoral

I don't agree with some of his stances, but those are few that I generally agree with off the top of my head.

What is his message? That it's okay for a small but vocal mob to subvert the will of the people? No thanks.

- addressing income inequality
- climate change
- Medicare for all
- racial justice
- campaign finance reform
- immigration reform
- approving a living wage
- gender equality

These are just a few of the dozens of issues he addresses at every single one of his rallies.

I wish Hillary would go HAM with voting rights as a main component of her campaign
even bigoted fools cant argue against a fair and transparent voting system without showing their ass.

Her policies are more likely to achieve something and are not far removed from reality. She also wants to help dems win seats in congress which would be a real political revolution.

Definitely far more doable and will have some nice changes but her health care policy for example won't really change the underlying problems with the system (not really her fault, though she could at least propose some bigger moves).

Okay, so then why are people saying Bernie or bust? Both get you what you want, why cut off your nose to spite your face because your guy lost. That's what's not understandable.

back to back hahaha

A strange part of me would love to see Sanders win the nomination just see the campaign of terror the Republicans would wage on him. With all the dirt they could dig, of which there is plenty. A social experiment I wish I could see with a rewind button to reality. Like, a taste of it was in that Vox higher taxes thread, but seeing that on a national scale would be nothing sort of utterly fascinating.

Editors note: also what nickname Trump would give Bernie! Commrade Bernard? Taxing Bernie? What would it be!

Why is Huelen10 not a real person? Because she's transgendered?
1. Transgender, not transgendered.

2. I'm not Transgender, I'm agender.

And when you say every rally, that's not too far off. He touches at least 90 percent of these every time.

As a Bernie supporter, I agree. Hillary's been the nominee for a couple months now. At this point, Bernie supporters need to detach themselves from Bernie and figure out how to take the organization structure that they have developed and leverage that to continue supporting the issues that drew them to his campaign in the first place.

They don't like the DNC? Great! Take over local parties and force it to change.

Want single payer? Donate or do whatever else you can to get ColoradoCare passed.

And so on.

Okay, so then why are people saying Bernie or bust? Both get you what you want, why cut off your nose to spite your face because your guy lost. That's what's not understandable.

Why do people get addicted to drugs? Why do we have a massive obesity crisis? Why does just having a gun on your person increase testosterone?

Humans were never logical creatures that made purely rational choices, we have been cutting off our noses since the stone age. The same thing happened in 2008, and the same thing will happen again and again.

how do you guys imagine he will even begin to do any of those while treating both parties as his opponents? and without funding or supporting other democrats? where is the path?

i've joked around with friends that i'd love a what-if machine to show this. then i could safely come back to reality where trump isn't president

Well looking at the reaction my post got, i guess it was not appropriate.

Sometimes i forget that not everyone knows my post history on this fast moving board and that saying edgy shit like that could get me banned. lets just hope Y2Kev hasnt seen my post yet.

I dont want to get banned this close to E3.

Bernie's favorability numbers and his head to head polling versus trump are worthless figures considering he's never been attacked.

Has anyone attacked him or have there been any news stories on his call to abolish the CIA? Or when he worked for a party that advocated abolishing the military? Or the time he was a candidate for governor for a party that called for a state takeover of utilities without compensation to the individuals who own them?

Sanders has a long history of being on the far left, a history which would tank his numbers if anyone thought him a serious enough challenger to bring up.

We, as in the Sanders campaign, has about a month left before it becomes a distant memory and everyone moves on to the general election.

But you can just ignore what every single credible journalist outlet has said about Clinton and the fact she is extremely liberal and just yell at clouds and shit as Sanders goes down in flames and is remembered as the asshole who couldn't even properly condemn death threats and threats of violence by his own delegates and supporters.
