Why isn't there a dodge button in FPS games?
This would make so much sense, particularly in games like BF.

I always thought it was kind of weird that you can just randomly jump while running. In BF so many palyers a jumping while running to dodge bullets. And if we're honest, no one in real life would jump across the battlefield.

It would be cool if the jump button would serve as a dodge button while running and it should take some seconds to charge, i.e. after your head goes up again and you are in the initial upright pose again. If you are near a obstacle, wall etc. the jump button could be the traditional leap animation.

Is this something I missed? Are there games that do that?

The Metroid Prime games are the only FPSes I can think of which let you dodge.

Why did they give Ryu Hayabusa a face?

The mask was fine.

No but I want it.

Halo 5 sort of

there was a Screwattack video some years ago with Stuttering Craig, the whole crew and even James Rolfe.
I can barely remember what the were doing in that video but all of them had "cool" clothes and basically did some crazy stuff.

I'm sure, if someone saw that video, he/she knows what I mean.

soo.... I can't find it and would be very grateful for a link.

nvm
found it

Why is Uncharted 3 not considered to be a downgraded game? Everytime I see someone bring up that shot of Chloe in the bus from e3 2011 compared to the final game, its met with "here we go again", and "not this again". I don't know the reasoning, and I have been pretty scared of asking why.

Was it a time of day change?

That shot was from a FMV cutscene. You can't downgrade video cutscenes.

You'll love the Shadow Warrior reboot then. It's almost like a character action game in first person.

Has EA ever made discounts of their DLCs in Origin? I want to buy the Inquisition's DLCs but it's cheaper to buy the GOTY edition than the DLCs separately.

Also, if I buy the GOTY edition, do I have to download the whole game again or it just updates the existing one?

There's also the Shadow Warrior reboot and now also Hard Reset Redux. Plus I think The Jedi Knight series counts, even if people usually drop the FPS part of it as soon as they get the lightsaber.
And don't forget Unreal Tournament - especially the new one, combining dodges with front slides and wallruning.

How the heck does that physics bug of something blasting off like Team Rocket happen?

Physics engines try to 'push' objects apart by applying forces in order to stop them from intersecting.

If an object gets pushed into a situation where it's still intersecting something it shouldn't, the physics engine will keep trying to de-penetrate it, applying more and more intense forces until WHEEE OFF I GO.

That's one of the more common cases, at least. Anything that applies physics forces has the potential to launch stuff into space if they're not appropriately limited.

No that's not it but I see how it implies that as well for sure.

This is some sort of Alien style astronaut suite with a skull in its helmet with (I think??) some sort of space environment in the background?

Thanks though.

hmm, probably not what you're looking for but the description reminds me of Space Hulk Deathwing

theres a thread about the "all game cubegames in one video" thread posted within the last 4 hours or so, i need a link to it. Thanks

Sorry :p I cant find the thread

Does anyone know this video game rental commercial? i guess it was a Blockbuster commercial or another game rental location. The commercial is from the late 90's. In it ,a group of friends are sitting on school football bleachers and showing off their "scars" from marathon playing video games over the weekend. Each one shows off blisters and callouses on their thumbs saying how many hours they had played to earn them, when the last kid shows off his thumbs they are giant, swollen, bruised with purple and green marks and pulsating.

I've still been unable to find this, can anyone help?

I just got a Wii U Pro controller. If I don't fully charge it before first use, will its overall maximum battery life suffer?

Lithium Ion batteries do exhibit the memory effect. It probably isn't a huge deal, especially with how how long the battery life is to begin with, but it will have an effect.

Was there another FPS game that had a similar gun to Half-Life's Gauss Gun? I mean also movement-wise, with boosting and stuff. I don't think about stuff like various rocket launchers and Quake's plasma gun.

I don't consider this stupid, but don't really know any other topic where I can post this. I just started with Splinter Cell on the WiiU, and there a small white line in the bottom left corner of the screen. It doesn't break the game and it's not always there., but man is it distracting. It just shows whenever it's a bit dark. In complete darkness and light it's not there. Anyone else who has witnessed this?

Did the "everything now has to be open world" fad began in 2015 or much earlier?

I was ok with it when I got into pc gaming with fallout 3 / New Vegas and Minecraft and only a few games had this format, but it feels like there's a point where it became the norm when designing games-.

I hope that's the case because I feel like bringing it back to the store but I really can't think of anything else. The bottom is completely unaffected and it hasn't been in sunlight.

Dunno I am also a smoker and I have a white Wii U and shit didn't change colour even after three years, but I am also not smoking that often in house, but when I do I also ventilate everything.

There was once a thread here where somebody cleaned everything with some concentrat and everything looked shiny new. Can't find it sadly.

Welp found it immediately after that post: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=899984

Edit2: Ehm... are you even sure that is dirt? That looks like the foil on the top which you should remove.

After one day? That has to be something else...

Thanks for the link. I bought some new microfiber cloths and after lots of rubbing my PS4 is white once again. It was definitely dirt, not a foil :P

What ever happened to the 'giant enemy crab' guy? Was curious as to how his career would have panned out after becoming a meme.

He produced Blades Of Time and Birds of Steel and left Konami in 2014 (might be health reasons). Not sure what was he doing afterwards.
He was also diagnosed with cancer in 2013, but seems to have beaten it so far, IIRC.

Can someone tell me a good place online to buy a 32 GB psvita memory? I live in mexico so every place is pretty much expensive... but... which would be the less expensive?

Play-asia might be a good place. I know they used to have good prices on the memory cards. You could even get a 64gb from them.

Does anyone know if all PS4 games in Europe have the option to play them in English including DLC bought from countries other than the UK? Or is it on a title by title basis like last gen.

Are retail PS4 games in Mexico in English too or just in Spanish? Asking about Fallout 4 specifically.

Usually have both languages, I play all my Wii U, 3ds, psvita and Ps4 games in English even thou I buy them here, however, if you're gonna buy it for Xbox, then that's a different story, some games for Xbox have default language as Spanish.

So I came back home from E3 and:
(1) My PS3 stopped showing audio/video (but it turns on), and
(2) My WiiU doesn't have audio coming from the TV (but the gamepad is ok).

I asked my folks if they screwed around with anything while I was gone but nothing from them. My question is basically "what the hell"? Anyone know what might have happened or what I can do to fix them? I didn't touch anything or do anything different for it to just magically stop I think. My Wii still works, and dunno if it matters, but there was also a power failure if that mighta goofed something.

I woke up and wondered how long my PS3 and PS TV should be expected to last. I have a huge backlog of great games, but I probably play either one of those systems once a month or so.

Any ideas?

Also, in my drowsy panicked state, I did a quick search online and it seems that both systems are becoming very hard to find at Canadian retailers. And on ebay and amazon, the price seems to be climbing. Is it worth buying replacements now (especially the vita memory cards)? Do you think there will be one last PS3 iteration or is the superslim it?

I very much doubt there'll be another PS3 revision.

Recently picked up Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate on Wii U. Never played a Monster Hunter game before. Should I go in blind or should I read up on mechanics etc first?

At least read on weapon mechanics in the manual. There is additional (weapon) info in the in-game manual. The game does tutorial you into some main mechanics.

Someone told me the Nintendo DS virtual console games can be played in double their native resolution on the Wii U, however searching around i can't seem to find proof of this or how to enable it, is it true? and if so, how do i do it?

It's a feature that is technically in the emulator but disabled (likely because it doesn't play well with everything). Some people have modded it on for some games with varying levels of success.

When normally is the PS Store discounts? Any chance that we have a PS Store summer sale at July 28(last year's summer sale date)?

I want to buy Divinity Orinal Sin: Enchanced Edition to play it with my brother, both using PS4 controllers. Our PC don't have a bluetooth device, so we would be using it with the USB cable...
There are other factors to be considered, like... both versions have split-screen on coop? The UI are good for a PS4 controller in both versions?

If I bought it for PC, I would also buy a BlueTooth adapter. Is a Bta-406-bk good enough to sync multiple controllers?

I've read that it's needed to have 2.1 bluetooth compatibility and EDR, but, I've purchased one before and didn't worked out well...
