Unless people don't go out and vote, if people don't go out and vote that is this countries problem. Will young liberals vote? Idk, if they actually did Ron Paul and Bernie Sanders would not have been defeated. Truth is they don't. I don't know what happens, how people can be so supportive, go to rally's, defend them tooth and nail on Facebook, but they never make it to the voting both???

Voting is the first thing I do that morning and I'm there as soon as the polls open. I don't even eat breakfast until after I cast a vote. But that's a thread for another day

Why do people say they will vote......but don't.


With Obama that was a special moment, who didn't want a first black president? I know I wanted to be apart of that history. That definitely helped the youth turn out.

What do Neo Nazi's even have to do with the Third Reich's economic policies? Plus Neo Nazis make it very open and clear that one of their main goals is white supremacy.

I don't think Neo Nazi's really have economic plans as they don't have anything to implement those plans with, no government nothing. Maybe their savings account.

And no I don't think trump is out there chanting white power and saying he hates niggers.

Trump is actually saying "I love the mexican people, they love me" or "i love the blacks, they love me" etc. It isn't a valid comparison.

I think it's more like saying that a president's perceptions of race / racial relations is just one dimension of his or her platform. There are compromises one makes with every candidate, as no candidate is going to line up 100% with your views. Some people may think this racial bias the only dimension that matters, but I don't think Trump is de facto defined by his views on race in the same way that Neo-Nazi's are.

I'm much more concerned about a president who has never held elected office, making it unclear what his commitments or proposed policies actually are. We have not done this since Eisenhower (and at least he showed actual signs of leadership prior to the presidency).

Racism is a fundamental part of his campaign. To vote for trump you may feel that you are free of worry/consequence, and thus don't mind.

Yeah, Mexicans are just rapist or murderers, and are too racially biased to make logical decisions on legal cases.

Also his comments about Barack Obama and his past activities make it pretty clear how he views black people.
 
Calling people that vote trump racists might make people feel better, but politics is more complicated than that. As with any candidate, people are always able to look past flaws or issues to vote for specific things they want. And I believe a lot of people do that with trump.

Because let's face it: race specific shit doesn't hit home for lots of people. We saw it even on the democratic side as Bernie supporters didn't understand why minorities weren't supporting in mass. It's easy for people to ignore it to get what they want. And calling them racists for doing that probably makes their resolve even stronger

Fact of the matter is everyone is playing the corrupt angle with Clinton. Moreso than the last previous elections for sure. And it is hitting home regardless if the facts really support it. Since trump is anti establishment in general, he gets a lot of unexpected support whether people want to admit it or not.

I think the problem is that it may help win this election (which is already mostly in the bag) at the expense of future elections and further dividing the country. As most liberals seem unwilling to recognize that people may vote for a candidate for a variety of reasons and instead jump to unnecessary name calling, the political divide grows and becomes more extreme.

It also lends itself to unnecessarily violence, like with many liberal protestors attacking Trump supporters merely for attending rallies. On the basis that they are justified to do so because they perceive every Trump supporter as racist.

I feel as though im bringing the thread in circles. I feel everyone is entitled to their political views and it doesn't necessarily define them as a person.

And I don't belive a vote for Trump is a bigot membership application either. Politics don't revolve around one (albeit his main) aspect of his campaign, as hateful and shitty as it is.

I myself won't look at people differently for voting Trump or treat them differently. And in my honest opinion neither should any of you. Everyone is entitled to a vote and an opinion, regardless of whether you agree with their choice or not.

I didn't say the liberals are the cause of the political divide -- I think this is something I (and many others) really admire Obama for, his tireless effort at trying to bridge the gap even when faced with insurmountable odds. He's weathered the Tea Party like a champ.

I'm saying it does contribute to it, which would be okay by itself, but in a way that promotes unnecessary violence.

I think it's very hard for liberals to understand how easy it is for people to ignore issues with race. Even if you aren't a racist, it's easy to choose to ignore racial issues. And many vocal liberals will equate doing that with racism

Oh yeah, he's only advocated violence against black protesters, painted mexicans as rapists, made fun of the mentally disabled, pushed the sterotype of Jews being shrewd with money, suggested yellow starring a religious minority, and happily retweeted accounts run by white supremacist and neo-nazi groups, among a mountain of other horrible shit.

Judging people based on their actions is in no way preventing them from exercising their right to think or vote however they want to. If they want to vote for a racist, they are free to vote for a racist. And I am free to judge them as being racists for having voted pro-racist.

He's only been against the establishment because they're in the way of him taking power. Normally he is the establishment. As someone said earlier he's not had many chances to be corrupted but he's a corrupter. When he got sued over his not-university he just greased palms like he learned from his dad as a kid.

Political establishment. People oddly applaud any financial corruption he may have under his belt because they equate that with being able to make America great at the expense of other nations (making Mexico pay for the wall for example)

Trumps definitely a part of the "system." But he ain't a politician for sure. And it's smart for trump to push this concept because it's a theme strong enough for people to ignore his antics. You see it in threads all over GAF: Clinton too politically corrupt, I just cannot vote for her! And if you think the attacks on trump are more about being PC than being an actual bigot, then you are voting trump
