Are the first planets always the 'special' planets that have a lot of life on them? Or will the majority of us be stuck on the rocky plain planets? Wasn't the ratio like only 1% of planets will have a lot of life on them?
1% of planets with life is still more than all planets and stars in our entire galaxy

Yep I understand 1% of 18 gazillionbillion is still a big number, I'm more curious if they coded it so we all start on one of the more lush planets as opposed to it being a random start which would mean most of us starting on a baron planet.

I don't know about the others, but I have not found a lot of animal life on my starting planet (I just saw one from really close but nothing more). Lots of trees and plants.

Do we know if it's actually possible to see other peoples planets/other players? I haven't been following the game too much and have only heard that it's been said that the universe is so big that it would be unlikely.

You can, but the number of stars and planets is so large in comparison to the number of players that 2 players being in the same place randomly will be very unlikely.

I wonder if people can co-ordinate places to meet up online though.

So, I had been keeping a distant eye on this game and hoping it was good.

I completely forgot I ordered the LE from Best Buy and just got a shipping notification.

I was really hoping PC would unlock tomorrow; I actually have time to play tomorrow evening, but Wednesday through Sunday I'll be out of town. What a bummer.

Anyone wanting to watch the BBC News segment on No Man's Sky you can see it by scrubbing back on the BBC News live feed here.

No time stamp unfortunately with how the stream works, just keep working your way backwards until you find it (it was on about half an hour ago).

Why do people say this? 1% of planets with life still means that only 1% of the planets you randomly visit will have life on average, even if you visit 100 or 1000. That there are X billions planets with life means nothing because there are 99*X billion planets without life and your chance of hitting one of those is much larger.

Not that this matter at all because in the pre-patch version of the game every planet had some life and I don't think they adjusted it that much in the patch

Amazon has LE's back in stock.

My standard edition is still set to ship today.

If I do an LE, I might not get it tomorrow.

What do I do?

Order LE, wait to see what happens, return regular version when you get LE. I think this works. Amazon is super liberal on returns. Someone should verify this before you try though. I've done it before, want to be sure advice is not a fluke.

The whole thing about meeting up with friends still confuses me. I get that the odds of bumping into another player are slim to none, I get that even if you find your friends planet it is still a planet sized area to find them. But aren't the space stations small? Why not meet there?

I get that this isn't designed as a multiplayer game, but if it's possible to see your friends in game then exploring planets together could be very fun. Exploring by yourself still fun, of course.

Nah, Georgia. I will probably get it via mail so i won't be playing until lunch time at the earliest. Big shippers don't go the last mile if they can't help it

Ah, I see. I used to live across the street from a Gameplay that would sell games a week or two before release. In the case of NMS and this day 1 patch, I'm actually glad I didn't get it early, but now that it's Monday, I'm really itching to play it. I'll see how long my resolve holds out before I cave and buy it digitally tonight. But I really want that LE, so there's no way I'm cancelling that order.

Decided to preorder. Downloading now!

Think I'm going to try a one life only game. If I die, I'll just start over. Should make getting to the center that much more amazing.

Coding the game as a multiplayer game means tons of extra work for little reward, so no, you can most likely stand on top of each other in the same space station and still not see each other.

Well you are not in one persistent world like an MMO. I mean the world is the same but its not one instance of the same world. Every single player will be in their own personal instance of the game.

To what extent can you customize controls? I saw in prerelease footage that sprint was mapped to R3 instead of the tradition L3. Can I switch that around?

...Harambe meme? Just googled it and its fucking stupid. Man the internet is really dumb.

Ontopic.. I am really looking forward to this shit. Should I just get the US copy now? Is the pre-order ship still a thing? I dont want that :P

But I want to play tomorrow morning early before work if at all possible :p.

So from now on, its like 10 hours or so till it releases digitally in the US right?

Thank you. Agreed.

Yes 10 hours for the US version to unlock.

The ship is still a thing. You do not need to use it, or you can wait until after 12:00am EST and then buy it so you do not get the ship. I assume you do not have to DL the ship file as well.

Yet I've read from previous interviews that the only way to see what you look like is if someone else is looking at you. And even the patch notes reference increased encounter chance with seeing player discoveries. It certainly sounds like you can see other people, but they never outright said it and it seems like an odd feature to include if they have no intention to do anything with it.

It could also be that they've got the barebones multiplayer groundwork in because they want to expand on it in the future, but I wouldn't expect more than named things for player interaction.
