I really hope Sean and some of the guys are reading about the crashes and freezes. It has really put a damper on things for me. Loving the game even with the issues, but really hope there is a quick fix to the issues so far. I hope they implement a quick save function in the menu. With losing about 1.5 hours of game due to a crash is not fun. I basically am starting over, my 1 hour cave excursion wiped out along with all my items I collected. Even naming my planet was wiped out. Arrrggghhhhhhh!!!!!!

edit: the planet naming being wiped could also be that the games servers are saying they are unreachable right now.

Whoa, I found a docking station on my starter planet and found an alien there. I spoke to him, could only understand two words he said, and was given the option to hand over my multi tool to him. I decided to
give him the tool and in return he offered me another multi tool with upgraded specs and 7 inventory slots!
I love stuff like this.

Ok cool, a
Vy'keen (warrior race)
was up on the space station and let me ply him with carbon for favor. Taught me a couple words and no longer acts aggressive toward me. If I'm going to get allies of any kind on this character it's with them.

So far it's everything I wanted. I found a crashed ship on my starting planet that I stupidly didn't fix up (it s better than the pre-order ship). But I've learned 5 gex words! Found some caves, broke into a faculty. Awesome awesome stuff.

Really impressed with the visuals. Everything moves and squirms and there a lot to interact with. Flying will take a little getting use to.

One of my favorite finds was
was a facility that was abandoned with shit growing in it. Had some blueprints in it

Can't wait to wake up and jump back in.

Also, no crashes for me.

Haha! I chose not to give it too him and he rewarded me for my courage. On the flip side I tried to do some shady trade but offered units and dude got mad

Playing an hour before work was a bad idea. I can't concentrate on shit now just keep thinking of the game.

By the way, how can I obtain Zinc? It's the only thing standing between me and achieving my dream of intergalactic travel :P

Accept it and then choose to leave it instead of transferring items...I think.

I guess just make sure you made a restore point by jumping in your ship, and then close out like normal. Games need to be a little more clear about when they save lol

Thanks, I took your advice, hope all is well haha.

How do I rename my ship?

Does it say "you have lost connection to online servers" for everyone?

Yes, don't know what that is.

Thoughts after tonight:

TIme just melted away. This game is good. I can explore for hours.

dear god my power just went out! Right after I jumped to this beautiful blue solar system and landed on a mew space station. NNNNOOOOOOoooooo oh well :p

I find most of my zinc in plants.

It's the yellow bar when you scan. Found alot from plants as well or find an outpost and buy some

Well, just played for 3 hours. Finally left my starting planet! If I had to complain about one thing its the inventory management. Am I supposed to just drop Iron, Plutonium and every other resource to make room for stuff I might need but not really sure?

Not much inventory space is what I'm saying. If that is my only complaint, I guess I really love this game! Its beautiful, I took my time and watched the creatures that I came across, explored my home planet much more after being able to fly, went into some stunning cave systems and got lost, found a jetpack upgrade and bunch of other shit.

Congratulations Hello Games. You made the game I have always wanted.

Damn, the crashes must suck :( I'm sure they aren't happy and want to track it down. . Haven't had a one yet but could be luck, could be certain circumstances.

I've been to 6 planets and two systems. I found an ancient pyramid surrounded by 4 monoliths on one. It had an inscription that ended up giving me full health and a really pricey artifact.

On the same planet there was an abandoned port that had a computer I could use. It gave me a riddle and some coordinates when I solved it.

The game is real good.

But I don't want the ship- if I redeem it am I losing my current ship?

edit: Lol, "setting a course" with your pulse drive and then messing about in your inventory while you fly is pretty tasty

Not sure if anyone has answered, but once you redeem the ship you're given the option to leave it alone. You're not forced to give up yours.

In case you are, you can transfer all of your items. Do you're not losing anything. Also, remember that the compare option when attempting to buy a ship doesn't cost money. There prices that's down is how much you'd pay if you accept the offer.

There's a trader in one of the nearby systems that has a great looking ship. I want it, but he's asking 400,000 for it. I have 300k at the moment.

Time to hyper jump and find the solar system even if it takes an eternity.

you could play this game for 10 years and still not discover every thing.

Depends on what you consider "everything". If by everything you mean every single possible system and planet, then no. If the entire gaming population who ever purchase this game never stopped playing, we would all be dead long before we, collectively, could explore every planet.

If you mean seeing every creature skeleton/base type, every animal "piece", every resource/sellable, every ship/multitool, every random event, every type of structure, every sentient alien species, every tree type, and every element, then it would probably only take a matter of weeks to see.

Press triangle to transfer resources to ship.

Some other useful things to know:

-You don't need to brake out of Pulse Jump when approaching most major locations in space. Pulse Jump will automatically cut out and drop down to boost when you hit a planet's atmosphere or come in close proximity to a space station or other such location.

-Plasma grenades
let you reshape the landscape and build your own caves! Just try it. If you get lost in a cave system, you might want to try seeing if you can blast your own exit back to the surface with grenades. (You will need to craft the plasma grenade technology into your multi-tool first.)
*I decided to spoiler this one in case you wanted to figure it out on your own.*

-If pirates scan you while you're in space, try to get to a space station or into a planet's atmosphere ASAP if you don't want to fight them. If you can do so before the pirates arrive on the scene, you'll avoid the fight...for the moment. Be aware that there's a good chance they might be right back on your tail as soon as you go back into space, though.

-If you do get blown up in a space battle, you will lose your ship's inventory, but your exosuit's inventory will remain intact. To recover your lost inventory, simply fly back to the point in space where you were killed. There will be an item floating in space with all your stuff in it.

- Up on the d-pad is a flashlight. I don't think it's mentioned on the controls for some reason. Though honestly I haven't found much of a use for it yet.

-Equipment that is charged by isotopes can also be charged by power cell items. Gear that is charged by oxides (mainly shields) can also be charged by shield shard/plate items.

lol...

I couldn't figure out a way to leave it so I just accepted it. Immediately after, a dude flies in with a crazy ship. I go over with 400 credits to my name and make him an "offer"

holy crap

It's really immersion breaking when I'm on a supposedly barren moon and all I hear are all kinds of creepy animal noises with no life anywhere around.

Also all these asteroids gotta go. I don't mind some, but I'm not tryna play an asteroid dodging minigame every time I break orbit. There's too fucking many.

Other than that I'm definitely enjoying myself.

Played for over 3 hours, have to go to bed now. I spent almost 2 hours on the first planet, I didn't want to leave!

Curse my greed, I just can't ignore the big pillars of gold.

So far it's everything I was hoping. Love love love having to figure out shit and learn to manage the suit/weapon alerts in the early going.

Ok last time I ask for help making a warp cell. Anyone please?

Have you gotten the crafting recipes for its components? It's basically a series of crafts that you make
(Electron Vapor -> Antimatter -> Warp Cell). You may need to buy the Suspension Fluid that starts off that chain.

I think they need to increase not just the amount of what each slot can hold, but also the amount of slots you start with. This and the sentinels are my only real complaints from what I played.

It's gonna be cool to see how this game evolves in the coming months. Owning one of the big freighters, building bases, and whatever else they come up with will be great additions. I also really hope some form of co-op is added one day.

All of these
Vy'keen
ships are incredible and I haven't seen one for under 1 million units yet. Goddamn.

I don't know if we should spoiler tag race names. So far I only know of three races and I think that's kinda cool

I need to go to bed but I'm on the third planet of five in my solar system and I dont want to stop. But I really need to. More exploring tomorrow

Oh, so it's exactly like Rebel Galaxy in that regard. Nice to know.

Considering Sean said in the AMA today that he's running on no sleep trying to get the PC version done, I'm guessing the Day 1 patch was finished up in a bit of a rush. Once the game launches on both platforms and he can breathe a bit hopefully he can focus on stability issues.

Yeah, the servers are probably overloaded from the rush of new users. They probably didn't do proper load testing a la DriveClub.

For anyone wanting to see the existence of a woodland planet, I just found a hell of a one.

Planet Winterwood. Maybe one day you'll find it...

I found one last night too. Was awesome. Only bummer was pirates had just blown up my ship so I had to spend my time there furiously collecting Hiridium and Thamium.
