Really appalled at the humorlessness Metal Gear fans are displaying today

Zero difference between this and any other MG spin off

You don't need to virtue signal. Kojima is making something else like he wanted to do. Konami isn't doing anything wrong here

The backslash is against the shitty company that is Konami, not the game itself. The game is just a medium to focus that backslash.

I think it's predominantly the shitty use of the IP. Imagine the fan reaction to an MGS3 remake or a 4 player co-op mode for MGSV.

We'll do better next time, swearsies!

Except Metal Gear Rising was a good spinoff and fans wanted it, not a generic zombie shooter.

That's funny, I hear MGS fans trash the game all the time.

It's amazing to me that one can't even mention MGSV without someone jumping in and say how shit or non-existent the story was. Saying how Kojima lost the plot and created a real slog of a game. Now everyone is acting like they wanted to see more from him and that the series can't go on without him.

[...] Survive sees the members of Militaires Sans Frontières not killed in that game’s finale transported through wormholes into an alternate universe [...]

I mean, I think is tame compared to some of the craziest things that happened in the games but... Eh?

Except Metal Gear Rising was a good spinoff and fans wanted it, not a generic zombie shooter.
After they played it.

I remember people pressed because the shift from Metal Gear Solid: Rising to what we got.

A cyborg ninja game is something people always wanted. People that trash Revengeance mostly were looking forward to the original Rising set between MGS2 and 4, but the concept itself was pretty well recieved at the original reveal.

The story in Rising was garbage, people that like it usually like Platinum games or fast action pace games like DMC or Bayonetta. Traditional MGS Fans that don't like fast action pace games have little to care about Rising.

Well, Survive isn't out yet. MGR could've easily been bad (either the original version or if it was made by Platinum's TMNT team

It kind of is a 4 player co-op mode for MGSV

Setting aside the fact that I'm done buying Konami games anyway, adding the MGS name to this game is just another reason to avoid it. Without the name, it's just a decent-at-best zombie shooter, and with the name it's a disappointment to the franchise. They're obviously trying to work off of name recognition here, but I seriously doubt that going to work on any but the most casual fans.

Was that Quiet?

Who's the director?

I get that they want to do a co-op Metal Gear game but whats up with the zombies lol? Konami really has a chance to do something great with the Metal Gear franchise but all this is is a expansion for MGSV. It doesnt seem like this is meant to be a new chapter in the saga, but more a "fun" and goofy side story. Hopefully they retcon the entire thing at the end so it wont carry over into more entries.

Hey, atleast their first attempt at doing a Metal Gear game without Kojima is something completely new and wont infringe on the storyline at all.

As a HUGE Kojima fan im not going to just write this one off because hes not involved. Hes been trying to pass the series on too the younger staff for awhile now. Its just sad it had to be done in such a shitty way. Kinda excited to see what they do next though.

Really Really want Konami to do a new storyline with Solid Snake working for Big Boss, maybe after this one they can "reset" the timeline.

Yes its Resident Evil and MGSV's love child, but lets wait and see. If anything a Co-op game in the MGSV's Fox Engine could be really fun.

I was really disappointed because I really wanted to know what happened to Raiden to make him the worst character in a game filled with character assassination like 4.

Instead we got fanfiction with bad music :/

Vocal minority. Revengeance is incredible.

You THROW a fucking Metal Gear in the first level. Anyone that can't get on board with that has issues.

You'll get no argument from me, I thought Rising was the shit and I've been a longtime MGS fan.

But I don't think it's really a minority opinion. Seems like it's more a GAF love. Same with people trashing MGSV. I only see massive hate on here. Most people I talk to IRL loved it.

i saw it was a 4 player coop game on twitter and was pretty excited at that idea (i like peace walker alright!). came here for more details and i just cant believe the fucking premise. this game doesnt seem real

a wormhole??????

Not a MGS fan, but why are people negative to this game? Didnt a mainline game just come out, whats wrong with a spinoff game, they are not even charging full price.

Or is it people just hate Konami

I know I'm an outlier here but I kinda am looking forward to seeing what this actually IS.

Unlike most everyone here, I'm not really invested at all in the MGS lore or story. I played through all of them the month before MGS V shipped (except 4 since I believe that comes after V) and about I'd say 1/4 of the way through MGS V. The story and stuff never really did a whole lot for me but I enjoyed the game play and the stealth of V is brilliant.

That said, if they manage to make this new game fun and not loaded with terrible DLC, I may pick it up. I think a 4 player L4D mixed with the stealth and AI mechanics of MGSV with open ended gameplay (even if it's just sandbox scenarios like the first crysis/warhead game) could be really fun but only if the zombie AI is done right.

The AI in MGS V was what made the stealth so much fun (Same with Farcry 3 and 4)

If this is just basic dead island/dead rising brain dead zombies then it won't be fun for me.

We'll see... Absolutley not preordering though. Making it a budget title was a smart move though. Seems like a lot of people wouldn't pay full price even if it IS a great game simply on principle of it being a Konami game (which I wouldn't fault them for)
