Oh right, you're not Indian. The gene pool will be happy to be rid of your kind.
Makes sense you need a dictionary to tell you what culture is. This is what I found when I googled "what is culture:" https://www.tamu.edu/faculty/choudhury/culture.htmlMan you're a piece of work.
You're also still completely wrong about the simple dictionary definition of culture.
And the nature of Indian and European gene pools, apparently.
You're a tool. I'm Indian too, and I'm pretty certain I understand the culture better than you. Sorry!

My definition of "the collective wisdom of a people" seems to be pretty much on the money. What knowledge did your ancestors transmit to you? How to get an office job in post-WW2 America? How to drive stick? How to grill on a Weber?
By all means go, it's an incredible country. It's also very safe, in a country of 1.2 billion people you're going to get some crime.I'd love to visit India for its rich cultural history and cuisine, but this is one of the main reasons why I have it very low on my travel list.
Sad but true, this thread shows just exactly why so many PoC are wary of feminisim.Orientalism is still alive when it comes to India and white hipsters.
Tumeric.
I have no problem with this. When in Rome, etc...
You're right, but you know to what this could lead. And it's not a cultural thing, either.
Anyway, I've crossed India from my "to visit" list a long ago. I know I'm missing out, but there are other beautiful and safer places to visit. Maybe someday in the future (even though I know it is a relatively safe place, all things and population considered).
The fact that a minister has to say something like this is staggering.
It's pretty tough being a fashionable women in India let alone wearing a skirt. There are spots of liberal thought and respect in certain areas obviously, but most of the populace is poor and uneducated and still think of women as second class citizens, consumption for a mans desire. My wife had a tough time growing up there (Mumbai) outside of her town, it can be scary. What's worse is that the police have the same backwards mentality, they shrug off the crime unless it's big news. She was groped on a bus, in the streets, it was awful. They blame her for looking hot.
Girls (especially hot girls) usually are advised to travel in groups, family or be accompanied by a man.
Luckily my wife has a fiery temper, once a guy pinched her bum as she was out celebrating eid she slapped him, a crowd gathered and beat the shit out of him (she's Muslim and this is a serious crime in Islam), they then took him to the police. Loved that story personally.
That's a shame, you'll be fine in the big cities. One thing you should never do is listen to internet when researching regions to visit, ask friend and family instead. They know and care for you and would offer far better advise. You could be missing out on wonderful life changing experiences, as internet chatter exaggerates and simplifies regions and places, usually in an unfavourable light. Best approach is to let yourself decide about a place by visiting.

Better advice. That and tell men to stop raping people.
Recommend the most liberal places in India.Man, nris are the fucking worst, they think they know about India just because they were born and lived there for like 15 years. Most opinion from them are probably wrong or just info based on limited exposures.
First of all, India has no one culture, tradition followed in one region may not be known to others. Each state has its own culture, not every one dresses similarly, eat the same kind of food or have the level of poverty or have same attitude towards women. If you want to know about india, just ask a real indian living in India not these pseudo intellectual nri on neogaf

The latter. Non-resident IndianI suppose nri means a westerner of indian origin or someone who emigrated from India?

What the fuck?So you are insinuating the majority of men or anywhere close to it rape?
Rape culture is a theory pushed out by feminists, doesn't make it fact.
It is insulting to men, we are being programmed to rape by society and culture? Utter nonsense.
Bhai, you forgot to answer my questionfirst of all, you can be religious and have equal respect for women, Hinduism doent have the same problem as abrahamic religions. Ok, back to question, all highly educated placed with low poverty rate in India are better place for women, so saying stuff like "India is century behind America " is fucking moronic. Oldest democracy but not a single female president meanwhile India had female prime ministers and presidents since the 50s. Btw I refer both type as nris
Bhai, you forgot to answer my questionWhich places are best for women? New Delhi? Mumbai? etc
