I think the OG PS4 will do me for now, will hold out and pick one up in 12 months or so, or when/if my day 1 dies.
310 watts is very high considering how much the rx 480 consumes. The Jaguar CPU even though overclocked should not consume anywhere near as much as 100 watts.
edit: This thing might not even be on 14nm or 16 nm process node.
I thought there were legal limits on how much power these could chew? I thought Jeff Rigby was giving figures below 250 no?
Scorpio being $600 would be an absolute joke because nothing we know of the specs would indicate that and who needs to replace their video card every year? People who bought a ~$325 video card two years ago still have a card that's faster than what's in the "PS4 Pro", upgrading would be more like every 18 months and you definitely don't need to do that or spend $500+ to get something now that will greatly out perform the "Pro" also the Scorpio when it comes out.Its 400 dollars .... lol
Do you expect a high end PC? If so just build youself a gaming PC or wait for scorpio which will prob be 600$+
Everyperson who is like oh who cares or I dont care then hey dont buy the system buid youself a gaming PC and BAM you have the best of the best OH and you should replace you graphic card once a year which will cost you 500 and up. GOOD LUCK!
The 970 is a two year old card at this point...Damn, better GPU than my 970, impressive.
Kinda isn't actually. It is more like a "wash".
Any word on decibels?
The OG PS4 is still more powerful than the One S. The PS4P is 2x more powerful than an OG PS4.
310w is just the maximum. It will probably run close to what the regular PS4 does.
Again and again... It doesn't consume 310 watts, that's just what the power supply is capable of. And that figure always has to be a lot higher than the actual device utilizes. Has been this way for any PlayStation (and other devices) ever.
Any word on decibels?
When 1.4 TFs is close to 4.2 TFs... c'mon.Yep, didn't say it was under, said it's close. Like people saying the Pro is to the Scorpio.
But wild the One S has the player in it, while a member of the BD group who started it all doesn't. Guess they wanted to hit 399 price point.
No.So this is more flops than my i5 6600 and 970 gtx. Is this more powerful?
Yes... there is a thread talking about that.Do we know if the 1080P enchanced version will have better texture and effects than the 4K mode? (at least for Tomb Raider)
Yes... there is a thread talking about that.
1080p with 30fps will push effects and detail to max.
going to be interesting to see what games can be driven at 4k on a 4.2tf gpu
That and a confirmation of 60fps lock is good enough for me.

Well it's like a $100 bump in price. So I'd say a good deal.Didn't we know all of this? Didn't we know that it was a mild bump and not a huge leap? I mean don't get me wrong, that was quite literally one of the worst press conferences Sony has held in years, but the modest increase is what it is.
Yay cheap price?

Dumb question - with a better GPU you could choose a trade off between higher resolution and better effects/textures. If you use a PS4 pro on a 1080p TV, are you going to only get better framerate than on PS4? Or do you think they'll increase the graphical settings (further even than if played on 4k?)
Or do we have no idea?
They aren't going to be native 4K, so probably a lot.
Looks like with the same details/effect of the OG PS4 Tomb Raider will run at north of 45fps.You'd think they'd be able to do 1080 60 with maxed effects.

Yeah, Sony stated in their conference that I would be loud as fuck.
only kidding!
One mode of RoTR is 4K native.
So devs can choose go 4K native.
Do we know if Sony included SATA III in this? Or is it still on II?
Has it been announced if the HDD is a SATA III? Thanks.
my RX480 is 225W.........and its fucking huge.....this thing says up to 310. Is that possibly including the breakout box from the VR headset possibly?
prepare for jet engine 2.0......its coming
You're not accounting for the power draw of literally everything else in the PS4. The GPU is not the only thing drawing power -- there's also the CPU and other auxiliary chips.
almost assuredly not...Is COD:IW seriously running at 2160p60 on this thing? Because that is absolutely insane.

My i5 and 1070 system with everything else isn't even doesn't break 300W at max load. >.>
