Game Informer: The origins of Horizon: Zero Dawn (NeoGAF shoutout)

Agni from the Luminous Studio demo? It's the biggest piece of artwork in the room lol.

I guess I can see how she could be an inspiration.

The stealth sections is reminiscent of that Killzone 3 mission, which was awesome.

I hope they have more gameplay options than just ranged tho. A spear or sword would be nice.

Do they have some JRPG players in Guerilla? Heh, it is strange that they have a super big ass Agni poster right in the middle of the room.

My favorite part of the interview was the comment about how their combat experience is making this more of an action title. That has stood out to me in previews, and is one of the biggest problems with other open world RPGs. Wishy-washy controls that don't form a true connection between player and character.

Really? I always thought she looked extremely plain. Pretty far from a supermodel.

I suppose it would depend on the agency.

EviLore should build Guerilla's word cloud tool right into GAF, that sounds handy!

kind of nice seeing the big pride flag right outside their office, nice gesture

Really excited for the game and very happy for Guerrilla. I definitely think they have a hit on their hands. I think it took a lot of guts for them to go from making Killzone for so many year to doing something completely different.

So March 2010 is when production began.

Anyone else finding it pretty unnerving that we're at 6 year development cycles now...
This isnt a bad thing. Like others said they didn't even have a full team. Actually this kind of ramp up bodes well for the final product.
"Almost nobody looks like a supermodel, so why should she look like a supermodel."

Spontaneously applauded at that sentence. She looks great and that game looks like a GOTY contender to me.

Also, this is for GGs word cloud: Amazing, awesome, fantastic, surreal...
Honestly epic to hear that. Not metal bikinis as armor etc. I want this game to own.

That was a great feature and interviews. Nice one GI and GG!

I've been jazzed about this ever since the leaked concept art because I mean, cyborg dinosaurs in a primal open world RPG setting? Who doesn't want that?! lol Definitely my most anticipated game despite what's coming in the next few months but February isn't that far away...

I really hope they release a art book alongside the game too.

Really good video, day 1 purchase for me love the detail in all of the Dinosaur models. Pretty damn ridiculous. Cannot wait to see this running on pro on the 55" ...

There is a artbook in the collector and limited edition! I'm just waiting for the preorder to go up on amazon.it...

great interviews! Like... nevermind the info and the new images and gifs that'll come from it but like... everyone that they talked to was really really good at actually talking!! lol

down to earth, realistic, straightforward but hopeful and consistent and confident in this amazing product they've put together.

really stellar little video - Thanks for sharing!!!

p.s. That melee shank she does to the watchers is sooooooooooo brutal!!! like through the neck and then she uses it for leverage to force em down to the ground!!?? Girl is fucking CHAMP

Man.... how can you not love with this team is trying to accomplish? Nothing against Killzone at all (KZ2 remains one the best multiplayer experiences I've had), but just look at this! You can't deny how amazing Horizon looks.

Like seemingly everyone else in the thread I thought this was a really compelling video. Sure, it's obviously a pitch for their game but it's rooted in how much they believe in it. That's obvious just hearing them talk about the project and how it got started. I'll be there, day one, with a PS4Pro at the ready. It's getting really hard to avoid pulling the trigger on a 4K HDR display to complete the experience.

That was a very strong video about the background even with it being PR. Guerrilla guys really did seem to get to do the project they wanted to. I do still think Sony wanted them to transition away from FPS into open world due to market trends and what not but I highly doubt Shu or House came over and yelled "Robodinos Open World, do it"

I can't wait for this game. I also really hope they show night time gameplay footage at PGS or PSX. Keep up the great work Guerrilla Games I been hyped for this title since I saw those leaked concept art.

I think one of the little thing that I really appreciate for the combat is the ability to shoot individual armor parts off from the robots. I think this ties with the loots that you get from these robots too. like, if you want a specific parts from thunderjaw, you have to adjust your approach a bit, like that sliding underneath thunderjaw and shoot it's armor from the bottom parts.

really like that aspect of combat.

Looks amazing as usual and I'm more impressed with every new bit information that gets released. My most anticipated game(especially as far as new IPs are concerned) as I have said many times before. I even pre-ordered the CE for the statue and I never do that.

Those Robodino model are ridiculous detail and there are so many of them!
I hope the game is successful enough, they make a toy line for those Robodino.

I feel like the GI crew don't get enough credit for the work they do for their cover stories. They always put out a substantial amount of great content

Awesome video. Its good to know they are listening. They mustt know now that Aloy talks to herself too much :p.

Seriously tho I am so impressed at what they have shown so far. When I first heard the rumors about a new IP with a red haired female protagonist RPG, I was like yeah that sounds like they are mixing it up. Then the concept art leak I was all picking my jaw off the floor. I was super excited but I just couldnt imagine them pulling off the look that was shown in the art. Then at E3 I was just in shock that they pulled it off. I was like "you brilliant sons of bitches, you did it!"

I always knew they would handle things well on the technical side of things. The only thing I have I have my reservations about is the story and the writing which I think have not exactly been their strong point in the past. So far the lore seems pretty fascinating and if they can pull it off in this area I think this game will be a generation defining game for sure.

*fingers crossed*

I have faith in you GG.

It really is crazy they pulled the game looking like that concept art off. I remember being blown away with the art when it leaked and wondering what the actual game would look like. Then when they unveiled it and it actually lived up to the concept I knew we were probably going to get something special.

I hope this game does well. It definitely takes guts to try something new. Games cost so much to make these days, a bad game can shut down a company and cause lots of people to lose their jobs.

Dat Zoids shoutout. We gonna see a Liger Zero in the game?

Its like Versus 13. The project began then, but they didn't make it public or anything unlike SE. They tossed around concepts and essentially made the skeleton. They didn't start full production on actually making the game until a little before Shadowfall shipped.
Can never have enough Zoids. Sad to see the series basically dead now.

Well hi GG!
