Okay.

Finished the fight with Brad and Carlito.
Saved.
Saved the two yahoos barricaded next to the hardware store.
Triggered the cutscene with the old man.
Saved the lady looking for her baby.
Running to get the camera man Otis tells you about in Paradise, get to the park and night triggers.

Nope, going to reload the save. Planning on saving the yahoos, skip the old man cutscene for now, and just beeline back to the camera man and safety before night.

That lady can't even walk anyways. She's already dead.

Yeah, the zombies get fucking aggressive at night. I love it.
Also, I think the game gets damn creepy after the (late game spoilers/mid game spoilers...it depends...)
power blackout. The sudden silence is disturbing
, lol.

The convicts are shitty drivers anyway. They spend most of the time crashing into trees. Gives you more than enough time to run to Paradise Plaza. On my second playthrough, I had 4 survivors (the injured lady included), just used the SMG to take out the gunner, then shotgunned the driver and passenger when they inevitably got stuck against a tree.

Pro-tip

you can REALLY exploit the convicts AI and kill them almost immediately

Just grab the Katana and wait for them to crash into the several trees all huddled together around the middle of the park (around where their intro cut scene plays)

You can get access to the Turrent and go straight for Adam :)

Seriously, I used to FUCKING HATE the convicts and then you realize just how easy they are to deal with

FUCK I LOVE THIS GAME (^_____^)

Another tip regarding the convicts:
they respawn at midnight on the first and second days. It's probably not worth killing them on the first day unless you want the PP (which is valuable if you're low-level, provided you have the ability and knowledge necessary to handle them). Even if you're going for an all-survivors run, you have enough free time to go out of your way to kill them every time they appear.

Or you can kill Adam first and grab his small chainsaw. The convicts are very easy when you use this weapon. Just lure them to the trees and hit them with the chainsaw. I really like the music though...so I always kill them later, lol.

I killed the convicts by driving into them real fast. It was awesome

I remember using the gun on Sean Keanan, it's handy for a boss fight

I liked the original Dead Rising, but it's like Power Rangers for me now, in that I loved it at the time but it hasn't aged well at all and I no longer want to bother with it. It'd be nice if they made it at some point, as I feel like it had the best selection of psychopaths in the series.

I guess DR2 made enough adjustments in the right places though, because as similarly outdated as it can feel, I still like playing it and have the physical copy pre-ordered. Chuck is my favorite of the protagonists we've had so far, there was a tiger friend, and you didn't have a camera... All that helped. Though, ironically, I think the camera in DR4 looks like fun.

It's not a bad game on its own, just a horrible dead rising game. I played the hell out of dr3 and enjoyed basically all my time with it, but it's clearly no longer dead rising and just straight zombie warriors.
To be honest that's basically DR1, once you are all leveled up and knows the mall inside out.

You can combo 3 duration magazines (and they stack up to 27 times the duration) defeat the clown to get the mini chain saw and it basically can take the entire play through.

They did made it much easier and faster to get to an overwhelming powerful point in 3 indeed, though it's easy to not use the stuff and have a bit more challenge.

Man, DR 1 is the better game of the series. Right mix of all the elements. After Blue Castle took over the magic started to disappear. Game is 10 years old now that is crazy.

They started out so strong, too. For my money Case Zero is a perfect vertical slice of Dead Rising gameplay and basically every bit as good as DR1. Shame it'll seemingly never hit PC.

IS there a way to swicth the aiming of the camera and aiming of weapon buttons - that's some messed up controls right there!

Also the shoot button! ergh...anyway, tips appreciated - I assume you can't move and aim, that would have made the gameplay much much better! (still having fun tho!)

I've completed all the cases but I'm guessing I missed something because the
military arrived, Otis and everyone in the safehouse has left and Brad was presumably eaten by zombies? Now I have 12h left before the chopper arrives and no sidequests available.

Finally beat it by skipping the ending cutscene. Very sad they fixed the cheevo typo. What a turely shameful oversight v.v

Geez man calm the hell down. Capcom has explained that OTR didn't get a disc release because it never sold well to begin with and they didn't think the market would support it. They don't owe you a damned thing, so get over yourself and quit crying about it.

Talk about taking things way too personally. Nice attitude you have there.

Also way to miss the point of my argument as well, putting them all one one disc = not having to do a separate disc release for OTR.

It's just a port of the first game, so all of the same quirks and features are carried over.

The market wasn't viable for a physical release, you'll live.

The margins for a retail release at this price point are going to be super tight, it's interesting that Capcom chose to do one at all. Retail partners plus demographics must have beenpre favorable state side.

Sure I buy that, but that is why I think it's even sillier they manufactured two separate retail releases.

Nah you're on the right track for Overtime mode. You might need to talk to Isabela once more but you're basically free to mess around and do whatever until the time the chopper is set to arrive. Just make sure you're at the helipad ahead of schedule.

I was second guessing myself too, even though I've beaten the game before. "I've got to be forgetting something. I'm going to fail" etc etc.

Edit: There's an optional cutscene with
Brad
in the
maintenance tunnels
if you feel like going on an adventure to find him.

Oh my god, i need to save after photographing Kent, always get carried away and go do something else, like i don't know... A BOSS FIGHT, and inevitably die.

Honestly surprised anyone would have trouble with the convicts - despite having never played the game before, you can immediately find them to be easily exploitable. I killed them every time they respawned (and an extra time from having died further down the line without saving).

The convicts are way easier than I remember in fairness. Just wait for them to crash and hack away. Very satisfying.

Those guys are a Joke. The Jeep has no reverse it seems. Grab one of the SMG's, shoot the gunner from just outside aggro. From there on its getting the AI stuck or just unload the minigun or w/e.

On the flipside its a lot XP and a minigun that makes certain objectives trivial.

Just run up and hit them with baseball bat when they are stuck. Easy kill.

same with carlito. surprised me that people have issues with him. Just run up and slice him up.

Yup, I actually pray for them to show up so I could wreck them quickly and get the lmg to murder anything in my path. I beat Adam the clown in 10 seconds with it.

Cool, thanks! Time to explore the corners of the mall I haven't been to yet in search of cool weapons for my next playthrough.

I couldn't get to
Sniper Carlito
at all. He would always turn around and shoot me, and if I was good enough to land the dodge correctly, he would always get me with his second shot. I ended up hugging the store and pillars to the left as Brad and I wore him down.

What's the best way to run up to him?

First time, I tanked it due to having enough health bars and a small chainsaw. Brad does a decent job with distracting him. Second playthrough, killed Cletus first, got a sniper rifle and just used that.

It's already been explained what's happening, but there's a note on the desk in the safehouse (where Jessie usually sits) explaining what happened.

Just jump up on the rafters and climb up next to him. Wait for him to move then start hitting the f out of him.

Or just stand where he cant shoot you and when he moves dump an smg into him.

Yes its 60fps on ps4

First ever time I'm playing this and it's great. It's maybe the only game I've played that accurately gets the feeling of zombie movies in the sense that one or two on their own are no bother, but they start to get dangerous when there's a crowd of them.

Always heard about the save system being brutal but in reality, what it does is make the zombies/enemies feel actually dangerous, forcing you to genuinely think about what you're doing. Oddly I'm finding myself playing it similar to the Souls series - I don't mind dying because every time is a learning experience, and you can feel yourself getting better.

This game is brilliant. Can't believe I've gone 10 years without giving it a go.

I agree. Plus, the loading times being cut down significantly really helps.

You're playing it the right way, and is probably why the style turns people off. They don't want to fail, they don't want to have to think about their objectives.

Last night, I beat the hatchet man in the hardware store, but ended up failing the next mainstory mission on time. I loaded the save, found a way to beat him significantly faster, and save a bunch of survivors on the way back.

The loading times definitely make the game way less frustrating. It used to really suck when you had 6 survivors trailing you and loaded a new area, didn't realize one of those survivors was left behind, and had to go back to the old area. Woof.

And the survivor AI still frustrates me sometimes. It can be fine or just terrible. For instance on my initial go I was just leveling up and seeing what I could do. I did the first missions with Brad and then picked up Aaron, Leah, and Sophie (I killed Burt by accident). I had zero problem getting them all back to the safe house (through the garden with convicts after 7PM) and I called them to follow rather than directed them to a location. I wound up dying at Adam and just decided to start over because I hadn't hit level 10 yet. I was level 14 when I got to those survivors again. Everything that could go wrong, did, and multiple times. I had to reload 6 times to finally get them all (including Burt this time) to the safe house. I was was directing them to locations rather than calling them to follow. For some reason Aaron just kept fucking everything up (seriously Leah is better at getting through zombies) and Burt wanted to fight everyone. And the convicts were actually navigating the open space with ease.

I just played through DR2 OTR and DR3, and as much as they made things too easy and really removed any tension, they also improved mechanics in reasonable ways. The double tap dodge is hideous. The survivor AI in 2 is a good balance. Indicators that survivors are close enough to make it through to the next area. If you are carrying a survivor you hold onto them in the next area rather than drop them. The arrow is better at navigating in 2. Gun mechanics are better (although really they are fine in 1) They either lessened or removed the stun animation/recovery (maybe not a plus for some). I think zombies were slightly less grabby in 2 (although 3 they are the worst). There's a lot of little things that made the experience in 2 better for me. I still do love 1 though.

Unless this has been posted already...

PROTIP: You can make chopping zombies pretty easy by getting 3 books and then defeat Adam and pick up his Small Chainsaws.

Entertainment Book- Bachman Bookstore - Paradise Plaza
Engineering Book- Bachman Bookstore - Paradise Plaza
Criminology- Sir Book a Lots - Wonderland Plaza, Second Floor

These bad boys never break!

It has been fun in a weird sort of way to reload failures and work through them, learning the best things to do/when and how to get there.

Only still on Case 2, medicine run. But close to level 20 and this is just weirdly fun.

I passed DR back in the day on the 360. It is good again to see the game thru 2016 eyes and it's pretty amazing how well crafted Frank and others are. I mean, he's not very handsome, sort of a lumbering fool, but yet he talks sensibly and boy did they get some facial expressions down very well. Just feels well done across the board in retrospect.

Great game. I love the feeling how it's all about the humanity in the game and not even the zombies. Zombies are a back drop to how humanity copes with stress and societal break down. It's fantastic.
