I find it hilarious how Emily says it's being revealed in October and we'll get news this week and next, and then it doesn't happen at one exact moment so people freak out and act like it will never happen.

I can't be the only one who thinks this is embarrassing behavior.
 
You guys do this to yourselves by hyping up some imaginary date and time based on literally no evidence or information to support it.

And I'm sure it's usually only a select few from the Treehouse. Executives aren't tracking how many GAF threads there are, especially Nintendo GAF threads. C'mon.

Nah. While they've more often given two days' advance notice for Directs, they've sometimes only announced them the day before.

However, if there's no announcement tomorrow for a Thursday Direct, I wouldn't expect a Direct this week. The last time they announced anything at all significant on a Friday was the Zelda delay in March 2015.

Fanxiety made it into the title for a reason. But yeah embarrassing and frustrating.

I've heard they do read these, and that they usually just get a good laugh out of all of it.

But yeah, it makes zero impact on their decision making, just gives them some perspective on what a tiny tiny tiny tiny tiny percentage of their fans perceive of things or believe.

Well, no, as evidenced by the closing of so many NX threads over the months. The intended message of shutting those threads down was not to conspire against Nintendo fans and send a signal that there will be no NX discussion here. The reason for doing so was that someone would finally notice that the last several pages of any particular thread were all just nonsense and that there was no longer any news to discuss or interesting analysis occurring. Sometimes it was even users PMing us wondering why such and such thread was still open as it had gone completely off the rails.

If there's actual news or worthwhile discussion going on, we're not going to shut the thread down. We probably won't even shut this down based on the rumors that it may actually be about to be revealed for reals this time. But yeah, the conversation going on right now is precisely why we take a look and proclaim "shut it down!" It's a chat room wherein people take like three leaps of faith to work themselves into a tizzy based on remarkably little evidence.
 
Nate is sure that it has a Pascal tegra chip and now Emily says that it is still going to have active cooling. If both are correct it's going to be some monster of a device.

Well, the implication was potentially there regarding this or next week since one of the tweets said November 1st was under consideration and that Tuesdays are a good day for announcements.

was expecting an announcement of an announcement to come at least a week before the investor's meeting on the 26th

I still think NX is an ecosystem, not just a docking handheld. Could have a handheld but I also believe in a full console. I am team console and team handheld.
