The NX Prediction / BSpeculation / Fanxiety Thread

To be fair to them, I don't think they want/assume it will have a controller with a display. They want it to be a completely standard home console with a standard controller with competitive power because they think power = third parties which, like you said, is nonsense.

Obviously it's all based on what they want, and has no grounding in reality. But I do get the parallels between the Eurogamer rumored device and the Wii U, although when Iwata says we "absorb the Wii U architecture" one might expect the NX to have some similarities.

Oh, I agree, I don't think these people care much about whether there's a display on the controller. But the vast majority of the (fake) "EG/IGN/WSJ/MCV/etc. are all wrong" rumors I've read do involve some sort of streaming display.

Don't let them get to you. They have done this for months now. Finding new dates to be excited by.

They'll tell you that tomorrow is the day and then count down every hour.

They're quite simply insane.

It's like no one even remembers the NX Direct announcement thread that happened yesterday. What happened there? People mentioned they had a brief moment of excitement from thinking it was finally happening.

This behaviour is literally a Skinner Box, when the NX is possibly going to be announced, everyone is going to get their dopamine hit. When it is finally revealed, they'll no longer be excited because they're no longer under the effects of a Skinner Box.

That Direct was announced by NoE and NCL two hours earlier, for whatever reason. I don't think any Direct has been announced later than 7AM PST/10AM EST/4PM CEST, at least not anytime recently.

But y'know, hope springs eternal and all that.

Oh well then looks like it's not happening.

Tomorrow will be silent as well....and then the briefing will come. And they'll say "we will announce our plans at a later date" and November will come and pass.....and nothing still. Most of Nintendo GAF will have withered away from anxiety by then, others will be seen roaming the streets like zombies in their Yoshi and Toad hats making Tingle noises.

I'm not saying everything is fine. I'm just saying Nintendo will probably do something a bit more to announce this than a daily twitter post. I don't know why people are counting down everyday. It's not going to happen like that.

So since this is now a general prediction thread, I'm gonna go ahead and say that whatever news we get this week will be a very small amount of info- likely just the final name and the date of the reveal, which I am guessing will be next Monday the 24th or Tuesday the 25th. It might even be in the form of a PDF, though that would be an absurd letdown.

But if we do get an announcement video this week I also expect a few game teasers, maybe some new Zelda footage and maybe a teaser of the final shape of the device.

That type of thing can come any day this week if the actual reveal winds up being next week.

Oh, I agree, I don't think these people care much about whether there's a display on the controller. But the vast majority of the (fake) "EG/IGN/WSJ/MCV/etc. are all wrong" rumors I've read do involve some sort of streaming display.

The ones I've read seem more to hold onto the two devices idea, where the standard console is coming in March and the companion handheld is coming next November. But yeah, I bet there are a lot of those "rumors" out there. Not that they are actually even rumors at this point. More like hopes and guesses.

Even if it is happening, expect for NoA's first tweet today to be about the Pokémon demo being made available.

When Nintendo Directs get announced, there is usually a 48-hour period between announcement and reveal.

If supposedly the Direct is happening on Friday in the US to celebrate the 5th anniversary, then the announcement should be happening Wednesday 10am Eastern Time.

I'm not being serious though. lol

the dream is dead. i will return to the darkness. may the light reach my blind eyes again... sometime... the soothing light, so far away now...

The e3 focus on zelda helped me a lot to wait. But since it's been 4 months, i am starting to need more zelda and nx news in a desperate way. At least red dead redemption 2 has been announced.

I know you're not being serious, but FYI to people reading I don't believe anyone has seriously suggested Friday for a reveal. Anyone with credibility anyway.

Sometimes I think I am a bit "over the top" regarding my interest in videogames...And then I come to NeoGaf an realize I still have room for "improvements" :-p

I appreciate you pointing that out! There has been plenty of chatter around "news" this week, but news does not equal a full reveal. Let's all temper our expectations here.

Though... If I was allowed to speculate wildly... I would say we get a Direct this week, followed by media impressions next week. Literally no evidence to support that being a thing though, just my own crazy thoughts.

What if NCL wants to wait until their business day starts to announce the NX reveal date? This is their next system and maybe they want to be the first ones to say it during their business day. That would mean it would be announced during the evening in North America.

You guys are looking at past announcements. This one is special. Europe hates Nintendo. Best time to announce is night for America and day to afternoon for Japan.

The lack of NX isn't killing me. It's the lack of big Nintendo games to be excited for in 2017. Unfortunately, Nintendo won't tell us about games until NX is shown first.
