The lack of benchmarks is driving me nuts.Any info on SSD vs regular HD performance?
Because this console is a different value proposition from other consoles.
Critics are looking at this as something that was supposed to deliver a new generation type of upgrade to give it clear sense of distinction from the PS4.
When instead, it is more like a PS Slim type of mid generational refresh that just happens to be geared towards making games run and look better in different ways.
IKR??
Where are the YouTube videos showing half and half comparisons.
Just have have to remember that most gaming sites a just bloggers that dress up as journalist. Anytime you expect professionalism it will be diamissed as opinion.

Do I need two Ethernet cables to back up the og PS4? Is it easier to back up with a external hdd?
I'm holding off too, as a current PS4 owner with a 4K/HDR TV. Getting HDR support patched in on the current system is further cementing my decision.
apologies, i type so fast and typo'd: meant second son. reading the DF comments of the high pitch fan noise playing second son, i thought to ask if you tried the same game to test out the noise level. but thanks for the response =)I haven't yet, but I'm not sure how different it would be to ROTTR given that there don't seem to be any 1080p updates for First Light
Here's my unit running inFAMOUS: Second Son. Please note that I live near a road which may be picked up by the microphone, and the PlayStation VR Processing Unit is nearby which makes a lot of noise.
As you can hear, it's very quiet: https://twitter.com/_get2sammyb/status/795645591107862528
Not going to lie, it doesn't look too good IMO. It looks like low rez textures are being used outside of cut scenes.

Yea I have a hdd caddy some wear so I might just do that instead.Do you mean transfering from the old one to the new? Backing up takes much longer from what I've heard than the simple ethernet cable transfer.

Infamous: First Light: Pro update provides a better frame rate/higher resolution toggle in options menu.
Half and half comparisons of gameplay are so difficult because you can't have the direct 1:1 input. The closest thing I could do was flick between the modes in the cut scenes in ROTTR: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l0zHHXu_nOY
That's incredibly dismissive. I'm trying my damnedest to improve the site that I run, and referring to places like mine as "just bloggers" in a derogatory way is a bit shitty. Yes, my site literally has the word "blog" in the name, but we try and run it as professionally as possible (Even though there's no money and we just do it for the love of games)

Seriously, the 4K native games look really great and the power draw being decent is such a huge thing for me. Totally worth the upgrade after selling off my launch PS4 for $300.

It's the same way in Tomb Raider. This is hands down the best news I've read about the Pro. This option needs to become standard for all future Pro games, period.
Absolutely crucial.
I mean, if they are imperceptible and he was unimpressed, what does that intricate knowledge really bring to the table except confirmation bias?
I would rather read the Cnet review than have time magazine tell me they were "giddy" from the inky blacks in CoD.
Congrats to Sony and to everyone whos gonna get it.
A healthy game industry is awesome for us gamers.
My brother got his.
Enjoy it fellow gamerz

In terms of the acoustic performance of the Pro, it has much more in common with the c-chassis PS4 than the Slim. We were hoping that the larger console may integrate a larger fan - typically, the larger fan, the slower it needs to spin in order to displace the same amount of heat. We've yet to put the Pro through exhaustive tests here, but we note a peak 55dB during inFamous First Light gameplay, but really it's not so much the loudness that's the issue as opposed to the pitch. The fan spins up and down and is clearly audible from across the room. Initial tests on heat again show a profile similar to the standard PS4. We'll have more on this to share later, but right now, it's fair to say that a fair amount of heat is kicked out of the rear of the unit and in common with any current-gen console, it should not be housed in an enclosed area.
