But isnt that like the first words that came out of Sony? It's for an improvement to current games. When all these site where talking extra work for developers and leaving behind current owners they thought the pro was not worth it. Now that it's for new adopters and current owners that care about image quality it should be treated as such. Overall the reviews do say it's worth it.

Just have to remember that most gaming sites are just bloggers that dress up as journalist. Anytime you expect professionalism it will be dismissed as opinion.

Half and half comparisons of gameplay are so difficult because you can't have the direct 1:1 input. The closest thing I could do was flick between the modes in the cut scenes in ROTTR: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l0zHHXu_nOY

That's incredibly dismissive. I'm trying my damnedest to improve the site that I run, and referring to places like mine as "just bloggers" in a derogatory way is a bit shitty. Yes, my site literally has the word "blog" in the name, but we try and run it as professionally as possible (Even though there's no money and we just do it for the love of games)
 
Sounds great. Got mine ordered and I'll be picking up stuff I've been holding out on waiting for Pro like Deus Ex and Titanfall 2.

Really looking forward to picking mine up and losing myself in that eyeball lacerating sharpness :)

Also good to see some of gaf's zero tolerance for mockery/criticism of reviewers squad are on the job again. I thought I'd seen the last of you guys given your complete absence from some of the monumental whine-fest review threads gaf has had in recent months such as Recore and Gears of War 4.

Why do you have a 4k tv if you aren't going to buy a product that provides 4k content. You were better waiting until the prices go down even more. There is a huge difference in IQ when you play a good 4k source on these tvs.

apologies, i type so fast and typo'd: meant second son. reading the DF comments of the high pitch fan noise playing second son, i thought to ask if you tried the same game to test out the noise level. but thanks for the response =)

Might be the difficulty of switching out HDDs and reinstalling software. I don't know.

It's not that difficult. Just time consuming.
 
Watched the Cnet video review, does that mean that 4k upscaling is really good on the other TV they were testing it on?
 
I love how people completely dismiss any negative reviews of their precious product. If it was a positive one, would you still be saying they are misinformed?

Either way, a negative review can actually turn out positive. If the negative parts of the review don't mean anything to you, then that's a good thing.
 
Seriously, the 4K native games look really great and the power draw being decent is such a huge thing for me. Totally worth the upgrade after selling off my launch PS4 for $300.
 
This is hands down the best news I've read about the Pro. This option needs to become standard for all future Pro games, period.

I could add on average, and I specifically am referring to the large websites. IGN, GameSpot, Eurogamer, others. That have no consistent review pattern. You don't know if it's someone that loves the franchise or someone that hates shooters. My personal distinction between the two are journalism is unbiased and consistent across multiple topics. Things based on opinion is blogging. That does not mean one is worst then the other just how they should be used in context.

well you got lucky as hell selling off your launch ps4 for 300. not many people will be able to achieve that.

and OF COURSE a ps4pro is worth it if you can sell your lauch ps4 for 300..

It's the same way in Tomb Raider.
You get into the options menu and select the mode you want.

Thats fine but its most important to have facts backing up your opinion. For example plenty of people seem to think screen tearing is fine and not a big deal but for me i literally can not play a game that has screen tearing. What if that same person was making those same claims about positive graphical effects like HDR and thought it wasnt a big deal when clearly everyone else thinks its an amazing improvement. Not everyone has to be Digital Foundry but maybe something in between.

This conflicts with Digital Foundry's review:

In terms of the acoustic performance of the Pro, it has much more in common with the c-chassis PS4 than the Slim. We were hoping that the larger console may integrate a larger fan - typically, the larger fan, the slower it needs to spin in order to displace the same amount of heat. We've yet to put the Pro through exhaustive tests here, but we note a peak 55dB during inFamous First Light gameplay, but really it's not so much the loudness that's the issue as opposed to the pitch. The fan spins up and down and is clearly audible from across the room. Initial tests on heat again show a profile similar to the standard PS4. We'll have more on this to share later, but right now, it's fair to say that a fair amount of heat is kicked out of the rear of the unit and in common with any current-gen console, it should not be housed in an enclosed area.
