I got a notification for a nearby ScoutX location while I was driving on the freeway last night and slammed on my brakes, then a poor lady riding a vespa wrecked into me from behind and catapulted herself off the bridge lol.
This game is strange. It somehow manages to be a few steps forward, a few steps back, and a few steps to the side all at the same time. Can't call this a cut and dry AC1 --> AC2 style jump, unfortunately.
I am currently on PS4. Pro is in the mail. I read on DF that Pro version of game performs worse. What's the status on that? Ubi acknowledged? Patch being worked on? Etc.
Game has wayyyyyy more personality than the first. Chicago and Aiden feel so sterile in comparison.
However, the driving is some of the worst I've ever experienced in an open world game. 1 was also bad in this department, but I don't remember it being this bad.

I guess I generally prefer heavy/weighty cars and handling and these feel far too floaty. Spinouts and drifts are awful too as there's no rumble feedback to give a sense of traction
Driving feels like it's designed by someone who has never driven a car in real life.
If I want to drive off and gradually pull the right trigger the car is not supposed to go from 0 to 100 in 2 seconds. And if I want to brake and gradually pull the left trigger, the car is NOT supposed to come to an instant halt and immediately go in reverse. I find that simply tapping the left trigger once yields better results for braking/stopping.
There is no sense of momentum to the vehicles whatsoever.

I can get behind the lack of drifting feedback complaint, but I've found most cars you just need to tap circle and that is enough to get you around corners.

There seems to be, for me? I can gradually pull off with cars by lightly pulling R2 and braking does take a while when you're going max speed, especially on bikes.

Can you guys do more of that? Please? I don't know where you would put it or even in another game but that was soo much fun. Stellar job on that section and the game in general. You guys have done an amazing job.

Dark Souls is my favorite series, I loved 3 and I loved DOOM but I'm going to say that W_D2 is my GOTY.
I really hope that W_D3 is a direct sequel to this, keep Dedsec, keep the characters, add a few new additions to the team, expand on gameplay (and for the love of God don't remove gunplay) and I'll pre order the second it's announced.
So is the consensus that this is very good on GAF? I'm in the mood for a new third-person game, but I have to say I wasn't very interested in the media Ubisoft was releasing before the game launched. It looked kinda boring.

Driving is completely subjective, it's all a matter of getting used to it. I remember hating GTA4's driving so much when I first started playing it. But by the time I finished the game I thought it was the best driving ever, and I still do. The physics are unparalleled to this day. GTA5's driving was dumbed down, inferior but easy to master. WD1's driving was extremely stiff and sluggish. I never really got the point where I enjoyed it, but recently after replaying WD1 + Bad Blood a few times from start to finish, I got used to it to the point where it felt "normal" to me. WD2's driving felt a bit twitchy and squirrelly to me at first, but I got used to it quick. IMO it's fine. Not great, not awful.

I don't know if this is allowed, in case mods can delete the link. Anyway, me and some friends did a short movie inspired by Watch Dogs called "Collateral Damage", this is our first attemp to do a short, but I hope you'll enjoy it!

I played for 3 days on PS4 and upgraded to PRO yesterday and it performs much better than before. However I am on 1080p and not 4k if that makes a difference?
It's no way near as serious as the first WD, but I wouldn't call it Saints Row either. Saints Row thrives on crude humor like slapping people with dildos and I don't even know what the hell is even going on with that franchise anymore.
Watchdogs 2 is still somewhat grounded in reality, but with a big fat wink at almost everything that happens. It's lighthearted, but with serious messages underneath.

My hype was really low since the beginning and dead 1 week before release.
I love the game and don't regret it. It's just fun and the city is really nice to explore.

In a game full of awesome there are so many negligible things that quickly become frustrating.
Seems like the car delivery only works if you're in a place where the car can be parked (hence why that one time i called for a car and it spawned in the police impound lot...smh)
I was in the middle of the burbs and naturally there's no street parking and i called for a car but no car icon popped up. After waiting for the counter to reset (Why is this even a thing?) i tried it again and still no icon.
Such silly little restrictions
It's been mentioned before but the sound mixing is awful. I can't appreciate any of the music in the game because all the other sounds (vocals, sound effects, etc) are at a similar level but all the music for me is much lower than everything else. So if i turn up the volume on my tv for the sake of the music everything else comes in way too loud.

The car app worked the same in the first game. I would summon a car in the rural part of the map and the damn thing would spawn a mile away. I wish they would just have it drive up to you autonomous style.
I hate how there's such a large, incredible world and yet there's so little to go after in it. I guess this is always a problem with sandbox games, but every time I find a cool little spot with guards I get excited and thinks there's a cool collectible there, only to scan and find out it's just a money bag. 90% of the guarded stuff is just money bags, and there's almost zero reason to go after them. I haven't spent money since I bought the drone, and there's really no need to. Why not have cool, useful collectibles there? Sometimes I'll find a t shirt, but that's really the best there is that isn't a research point. It just makes me sad when I think of the potential.
edit: mafia 3 kinda had the opposite problem of having lots of awesome collectibles, but giving you absolutely no reason to go after them. Seeing as in WD2 you start out almost as good as you're gunna get in terms of the open world, I really feel like a progression system with collectibles would have been cool

One of the last missions in the game could have been amazing with its setup, music and everything but falls face flat hard due to the shit tier encounter and combat design that this game has.
Am wondering whether the aerial drone is going to end up just like the air dash in Sunset Overdrive - something that should have been unlocked from the get-go. Some of these missions are a real pain in the ass to attempt to stealth without it.
Ubisoft (and other devs really) need to learn how to take best advantage of their open worlds. Its near useless to have an open world if its just peppered with 95 ten second tasks, and totally enclosed mini-areas where the true gameplay lives.
Same feelings overall. A bit surprised how praised it is. It's not bad, but the excitement to play more simple isn't there. The game looks great and the atmosphere and world is good.
This game is dumb/fun as hell. Really enjoying the tone of it. I just did an early game mission involving driving a remote controlled car all across the city. Everything surrounding that mission was hilarious.
Yeah I dont get the rave review scores when I Iook at the video from ACG and from IGN review in progress (which is currently a 6.5 score) - the world looks lifeless due to so few pedestrians everywhere, even compared to their own WD1
To be honest their does seem to be a lot of issues with the game that have been consistently highlighted in this thread, so I'm surprised it seems to have reviewed really well. Dreadful car handling, downgraded controls, AI issues and meagre story missions are common complaints. I've only played 2 hours and pretty much noticed all of that already.
The characters, world design, side missions and general premise of the game must be pretty damn amazing.
So I'm up to the part where you met T-bone and get access to the zodiac killer and stuff,
I did the first mission but the second part where you go to
16th street station seems bugged, I found the body
but i can't complete the mission.... it's weird.
In other news found a dance group and danced with them
Crazy lady takes a baseball to cheating boyfriends car then steals my car I try to make it reverse but choose a parked car which then rams into another parked car and she gets away
Finally got the stun grenade launcher to bad it's lethal if youre caught in its blast!
Any other non lethal option besides stun gun and stun grenade launcher eg stun sniper?
Edit: figured it out you have to take a picture of the victim, i took a selfie lol!

I think it's just one of those "What the fuck game are these people playing?" things. I have none of those complaints. I don't even know what "meager story missions" means. IMO most of the missions are damn fun, main or side. And there are tons of them.
The driving is fine, comparable to GTA5. The controls are different, not objectively worse. Sometimes the enemy AI gets on my nerves when I get spotted in a restricted area, but overall the NPC AI is pretty amusing.
