Pokémon Sun & Moon |OT| Ultra Beasts and where to find them

I've got a pichu and want the new psychic Raichu, at what level does Pichu evolve in Sun/Moon and then do I still give it a Thunder stone? And when should I give it the Thunder stone as I seem to recall they don't learn specific moves after that?

Is the game balanced with the assumption you're running from all your wild encounters or something? :(

I mean, I've been playing Pokémon forever. I know not to grind. I know only to go through each grassy area once. But when I WOULD encounter a wild Pokémon, I would battle it.

Now I am apparently the unfathomable horror of Alola.

I dunno, just play it normally and see how it goes. Pipikek's line is pretty strong anyways.

Was looking out for a new fighting type and caught a Crabrawler, but damn, is it ever useless. Can't take a damn hit. Just got smoked by a Growlithe that was several levels lower despite Crabrawler knowing Bubble.

I was lvl 21 way, way further in the game so you seem a bit high alright. I reckon it's balanced so that each of your 6 pokemon spends some time in the lead. If you're focusing on only two then perhaps they're racing out in front.

Give some of your backups some time to shine.

But you get less exp if you're overleveled, so I think the game will 'come back to you', if you know what I mean. All I know is that when I showed up at the elite 4, having never run from anything, battled every single trainer available and having used exp share from the 2nd island on (enough time that it made no difference ever turning it off) I had two pokemon higher than the e4, two at the right level and two below them. That's damn good balance as far as I see it.

You evolve Pichu through friendship. Pikachu learns Thunderbolt at Lv42, so evolve it then. Alternatively, if you're really impatient, it learns Discharge at like Lv34. Thunderbolt is pretty late-game, so yea...

Oh that sounds cool. When do I have access to that exactly?

Sorry one more question. What is the countdown timer thing for magerna about?

You can access it on the first island, relatively early on.

The timer is for the US release date of the special Magearna QR code. Scanning it gives you one in sun/moon.

I'm in the second island, gonna battle second trial captain. Anyone know where I can find Gible or Riolu/Lucario?

I'm not so impatient I can't wait for thunderbolt. But I can at the very least make my Growlithe into an Arcanine already since flamethrower isn't as late game to find if I've heard correctly, and it already learned flame wheel which is a nice enough second option. Also fire fang.

*Gets Leech Life TM*
"Why the fuck is Leech Life a TM"
~Sometime later
*Gets Psychic TM*
*Goes to teach Psychic to Espeon*
*Notices Leech Life has 80 BP*

What? And Torracat can learn this shit lmao
That sweet bug buff.
I'm loving it since I enjoy using bugs but since in the past they've been only early game Pokémon that are mostly useless after two gyms.

Crabrawler is more of a physical attack whereas Bubble is a low power unstabbed special attack so it wouldn't have done much damage.

Thinking of doing something crazy and using TWO starters in my game

Does anyone have a spare Rowlet I can use? Preferably in an egg so I can name it

Nvm I'm cool

No surprise, but loving this game. The characters (especially the captains) are way more endearing than I first gave them credit for, and all the small and big differences left the game feeling very fresh even if it is still very much Pokemon. I just finish the Fire trail so i am still fairly early on.

Didn't expect to like Cutiefly and Mudbray as much as i did but they have become core team members alongside my Dartrix and Gyarados. Waiting til night to have my Umbreon, then I will round them out with...that Fire Dragon thing I don't even know the name of yet.Probably. Not having to worry about HMs has been GREAT, feels like I can have who I want on my team. And I didn't even complain about them before.

Guys. Someone on amazon is selling the amazon exclusive LE for only 30 dollars NEW. I already have one so I'm not interested.

Just arrived at the 3rd island and put Hau in his place. Dude went from being a total loser to putting up a decent challenge real quick. Alolan Raichu is awesome.

Current team is:
Torracat Lv. 28
Oricorio Lv. 28
Espeon Lv. 27
Wishiwashi Lv. 27

After seeing how cool Lycanroc is I'm tempted to add Ruffrock to my team but I'm hoping I'll find something else I really like to add my team soon.

Potential story spoilers:
Team Aether is SOOOOOO obviously evil. Let me guess: Twist is Team Skull is the good guys and aether is the bad guys.

Meowth is crazy strong early game here.
-Dark Type
-Technician
-Early Bite (STAB)
-Early Fake Out

He's carrying me so hard right now.

Yep. Used to love running a technician Persian in gen IV. Dropped my Mewoth when I evolved it to Persian because it was such a heavy hitter.

Where in the game can you scan these? Do you have to be far into the game or can you do it as soon as you start?

As soon as you get the Rotom Dex. Scanning ten QR codes a day lets you catch a rare Pokemon not normally found in the game. For example you can get the Gen 2 starters this way.

Very cool, thank you! One last thing, is the rare pokemon that appears totally random or can you control what appears in anyway?

Not at all. I even had Crabrawler all the way from Route 3 until the end of the game since you can't evolve him until then.

The worst moment in the game for me was when, having carried Crabrawler (awesome pokemon) through the whole game, at the very end he started to evolve.

I was excited. Then... devastated.

Seriously, though... worst evolution ever? Both visually and in terms of usability, it's shocking. Had to bench the poor fellow, he got 1HKO by everything after evolving. That's the danger of playing blind, I suppose!

It's super devastating

Spoilers if you're interested as to whether you're right or not:
It's not that simple.
Further spoilers:
Their president is evil, and employs team skull, who are not good guys either. But most of the aether foundation are good. So it's really aether = good, team skull and a couple of the aether higher ups = evil.

Found a mimikyu which eventually called for help that mimicked Brutal Swing so when they were both low on HP, it did Brutal Swing to kill the other leading my Pokémon to kill the one alive. Uggh.

Growlith does actually spawn on island one right? The professor showed me over in his zmove example and I haven't seen it since

On moon of its tied to that

Uh oh. I knew I shouldn't have peeked in here for stuff like this.

I have Crabrawler on my team and love her. How does evolving make it worse?
