Pokémon Sun & Moon |OT| Ultra Beasts and where to find them

Had to run out today,

Bout to take on the Team Skull raid at Po City. Lots of open areas round here but doesnt seem too diverse with good pokemon?

Considering Cubone and Marowak are featured Alolan forms and the signature Pokemon of an entire trial, the least they could have did was have an NPC that sees you have a Cubone and handed you a Thick Club.

Chained for a good 20 minutes, no Thick Club in sight. Chain ended when a Kanga spawned and no way was I turning that down.

I can find three female Salandits in a row, but no Thick Club after 20 minutes...

I've run into like 5 Kangaskhans in a chain of 15 Cubones. To be honest they're a huge pain in the ass because they twoshot all of my Pokemon. I'm really starting to think I should have brought Thief into this fight though.

Are you building an all female team? o:
Yes. I'm using Munchlax right now because he's a goddamn tank, and his Hold Back move is basically a low-key False Swipe.

The main reason I want females is so, come January, I can transfer my foreign Ditto and try to Masuda Method some Shiny Pokemon.

I can see why people don't want to bother using Exp. Share in this. Also I love how Baby-Doll Eyes show the eyes of the very creepy Espurr.

So I bought it today and am enjoying it so far. I can't say yet if the game is going to bore me as previous pokemon games have after the first few hours. The battles feel pretty snappy though so that helps keep me engaged.

The pokemon are pretty cute but I think I don't understand the hidden depth in pokemon.

I highly recommend going into the options menu and changing the battle Style to Set (as well as text speed to Fast) as well as turning off the EXP Share when you receive it. You'll still be pretty good on the level curve and the challenge will probably become more interesting over time.

If I delete the demo and then redownload it, will I be able to try to get everything again? I wasn't able to use my 3DS at all so I missed out on all the cool events...

Grass totem battle was intense. Not necessarily used to having to switch things in and out against the AI but it was cool.

Of course 3 of my 6 being weak to grass did not help either!

Its actually very simple. Its like calculator chess lol.

Each pokemon is either going to be offensive, defensive or all around.

2 types of attacks, Physical and Special.

A physical move will target a pokemons Defense stat, The Attack stat of the pokemon using the move will be the modifier for damage.

A special move will target the Sp Defense stat. With Sp Attack being the modifier

Type Effectiveness is key. Certain types are better to use against others. The game is wonderful at letting you know firsthand.

That is straight up the elementary but heres where it gets tricky:

Moves have all different types of level of damage, getting the right moves on the right pokemon is key

Not all moves do damage overall, others induce status effects like sleep, paralysis, poison, confusion, even attraction. These are just as important, do not get caught in having only offensive teams.

Pokemon have a perk like system called abilities, these abilities can drastically change a scenario when a pokemon has something like "Intimidate" which lowers the opponents attack on sight, or even something like "Wonder Guard" in which a pokemon can only be damaged by super effective moves.

Pokemon also have natures, These natures dictate how a pokemons stats will layout. They work by taking a 10% nerf from one stat and giving another a 10% buff. Pokemon should be optimized for the right nature for the best stats

Thats like the best way to sum it up before diving too deep, tons of guides, Its why I love the game, so much depth. And the best part is not everyone is a "Pro" like other games so there is so much room to explore and not get washed just because its not the go to strategy.

Cool thanks! One question, what can transfer over from the demo to the full game? I sent my Greninja and a Star Piece. Is there more?

It seems like a chain of 20 only guarantees 2 perfect IVs (tested with Cubone and Rockruff).

Also my +Atk -Spd Rockruff has a perfect speed IV and terrible attack so I guess it's effectively neutral...

Got females of all all the starters now that I'm at the breeding zone. People are trading me the game-specific Mons including ultra beasts for them 😶

So is it true that theres a way to change the IVs of a Pokemon in festival plaza? I'm loving this baller ass Relaxed Mudbray I found and want to incorporate him into my trick room team once January hits.

haha wow thanks.

So others are just realy rare?

If you go fishing in spots with bubbles you have a better chance of landing a rare Pokemon. You can save + soft reset whenever you see one to get infinite tries.

Can someone explain how the new shiny chain works? How do Pokémon call reinforcements?

After beating the first trial wild Pokemon have a chance of summoning reinforcements (increased by throwing an Adrenaline orb, available after the fire trial). The summoned Pokemon can be KO'd and another will be summoned in its place. After ~20 KOs the shiny chance increased significantly. You also have a chance to get the Hidden Ability and up to 4 perfect IVs.

I think if you've been participating in the time based events in the demo you can send any items you got from those. Stuff like a Big Mushroom.

I also don't recommend using the Greninja, it's actually quite broken balance wise.
