Well, if you assume Capcom can't/won't do it for some reason, there really aren't many developers out there for a hardcore fighting game. And Iron Galaxy's new CEO Adam Boyes was one of the former higher ups at Sony, so he has the connections. And they're trying to expand, too.
That would certainly be...interesting...
Based on this post. Also, Adam Boyes and John Vignocchi are both at Iron Galaxy now, so that fueled the speculation further.

No doubt that characters such as Trish, Hsien-Ko, She Hulk, & Crimson Viper will get the axe.
Characters such as Spider-Man, Hulk, Captain America, Iron Man, Ryu, Chun-Li, Morrigan, Felicia, Dante, etc. are automatically in, because they're staple characters.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing earlier when there was all that talk about Marvel "diversifying" their universe by either changing the sex or ethnicity of existing characters like Thor, Iron Man, Cap, Ms. Marvel, etc...
I'm all for diversity... but why not make NEW diverse characters or put the spotlight on your existing cool female superhero mom in an interracial marriage.

I wonder what an MvC4's new gimmick would be. X-Factor was interesting, but it did swing an already super-offensive game into even more offense. And then it almost became routine to the point where commentators could call the activation before it happened.
I kind of hope for a defensive gimmick this time around. TvC's Mega Crash was a good place to start, a flat out combo breaker, costing meter and resetting things to neutral. It needs to have a weakness and be possible to bait out, of course, but it does turn long combos into a mind game instead of just a combo exhibition. Give the disadvantaged player a choice to make. Do I break? When do I break? Will he catch me doing so because I did it at an obvious time? And the player doing the combo can't quite autopilot because he has to be ready to counter a breaker.
I don't know, I just think a game like Mahvel with long combos needs something to keep both players on their toes during a combo. And yes, I'm thinking of Zero style loops when I say that. That needed to be Mega Crashed so hard.
Of course the flipside of a universal combo breaker is that all bets are now off on infinites. They're suddenly totally fine from a design point of view, since eventually the opponent builds up enough meter to break out.

Let's be fair, the new Ms. Marvel is one of Marvel's best new characters in a while. Plus the old Ms. Marvel is now Captain Marvel, so win-win.

If MvC4 is indeed happening, I'd be shocked if we didn't get a re-release for UMvC3 on the PS4.
Also, UMvC3 is already in HD.

Sure and I think Spider-Gwen is a fantastic character too.... but that doesn't mean revamp your entire universe just to make sure you can check mark all the boxes on the diversity list

JV does not work at Iron Galaxy. Also, IG is still working on KI, as clearly seen by this post by the lead combat designer from IG.
They said they want to expand, though. Dave Lang also mentioned they have unannounced projects a while ago on the Bombcast. But that doesn't mean anything, they always have several projects going on.

If it happens, there won't be any X-Men or FF characters, I guarantee. Probably no Shuma Gorath, either, as there's some shared rights issue there as of late.

I'm not even talking about that post or rumor. I just think that the idea of Iron Galaxy making MvC4 is more likely than others, considering some factors. I probably came to the same conclusion that the guy who made the fake rumor did.
