The Last of Us Part II announced

On Joel is a hallunication theory, I want to add that shaking hands and hallunications are symptoms of schizophrenia. Maybe they are symptoms of other psychological disorders, too.

Perhaps the long term effects of her infection, even if it didn't take control of her. Or maybe it has mutated. Hard to tell where your sensibilities should lie based on the short video.

Yeah the whole way he just so casually strolls up and seems so calm the whole time is what's making me think its possible. He isn't running in there to see if Ellie is ok as you would expect him to do.

Ellie is not a kid anymore. I don't see how Joel casually strolling into the room is somehow indicative of him being a ghost.

Uhh..Ellie is casually singing and playing a guitar, too. Is she also a ghost?

Shaking hands is also a symptom of oh my fucking god I just murdered loads of people.
Hahah yea. And I don't buy them going ghost Joel theory. If we got there in 2 seconds after a teaser trailer it's not going to be some great and compelling hook.

You know what's WAY more interesting? Dealing with the fallout of the first game and what that does to their relationship.

Re-watching the trailer in higher quality, Joel's entrance was rather celestial. He comes in from the light and looks upon what Ellie's done, then asks her if she's OK.

Also, when rewatching, her response to him is also very weird, with a delay, like he's not in the room in the first place. Hard to explain. But this ghost Joel thing definitely doesn't seem like a crazy theory.

She's casually playing a guitar after killing loads of people, the last of whom was holding a machete which is likely a trigger for her, she's absolutely shook right now. Joel is incredibly protective of Ellie.

Yup. I am very confident in the theory that he is dead and she is just imagining him.

I really hope you're wrong, but it would make sense given her sense of revenge. Likely would be taken out on the people who killed joel. I'll still be really hyped for the game, but not gonna lie, if he's dead that one would sting.

Looks like it's time for #teamreal vs teamfake once again. Real Joel vs Fake ghost Joel.

More like team running wild with their imaginations vs team waiting for concrete info. Speculation is nice and all but some try so hard to convince others they're on to something.

Also, one more thing. There didn't seem to be anything going on outside, it looked rather peaceful. All of the action happened inside that house as evident by the bodies. Why would Joel be outside then while Ellie fends for herself inside? He comes inside after everything's happened and then checks on her. A little creepy, but really interesting.

Easy. She's run off to do whatever. The player then has to track her down and eventually finds her at this house. People are seriously reaching with this ghost Joel stuff. I mean, it's possible, but far from likely.

Whatever the scenario is, I hope Joel features heavily. He had an incredible arc in the original and was the most human character in the entire game - for better and worse.

Another Sony event, another game announced years before release. Seriously, i don't have any problem with new TLoU chapter, but i highly dislike Sony's approach in announcing their games.

Did you not play The Last of Us? Joel is unreal protective of Ellie because of how scarred he is at what happened with his daughter. I feel it would be pretty out of character for Joel to just casually stroll up to a scene where he knew Ellie was involved in heavy conflict.

I'm not convinced Joel is a ghost / hallucination here, but its possible

The story that makes the most sense in my head is that Joel is killed in a revenge attack by the Fireflies, Ellie has a breakdown and swears revenge, and then throughout the game discovers what Joel did. Ellie will likely in the end be faced with a choice to sacrifice herself to potentially save humanity, or tell them to go pound sand.

For physiological aspects, it's a sign of hypoglycemia for one :p

But schizophrenia could be an interesting route, but I'm more thana little wary of going down some kind of "violent schizophrenia murder rampage" route.
I don't see any candies, so there's that. :p
Maybe there are other disorders besides schizophrenia with these symptoms. Post traumatic disorder, maybe? I'm not into pschycology that much, so I can't say something for sure. Maybe someone who knows more about psychology can comment on that.

I was thinking that, too. Maybe the virus mutated and it started to affect her. A mutation of the virus would explain new types of enemies, too.

Couldn't get through TLoU. Another entire year of game of the forever talk that just doesn't click with me. Oh well, happy for all you big fans, I still get my U4 DLC (:

Anyone notice the window next to where Ellie is sat, looks a lot like the window from the first games start screen, maybe just coincidence or a nod to the original but it reminded me of that anyway.

Great reveal trailer though, Naughty Dog are on top of their game when it comes to story telling and acting performance, so if this is anything like the first game and Uncharted 4, this should be another cinematic masterpiece, so hyped for this.

Consider if the Fireflies attack out of the blue, Ellie wouldn't understand why but Joel totally would. I imagine he'd try to talk her out of it, but any effective explanation would require to tell her the truth of what really happened with the Fireflies

If you go by the epilogue scene they acted out on stage as cannon and her reaction in the ending Ellie knows Joel wasn't being truthful. So I dunno if I'd be that great of a shocK. Outside of maybe the fact that he murdered Marlene to save her.

They could easily retcon it though. Where Ellie just accepted it and wasn't aloof and keeping her distance from joel. Then again we also don't know how much time has passed.

if Joel is her hallucination why would they show him walking in the house and looking in the bathroom and such while she is in another room?

Exactly. Why would Ghost Joel be checking out the scene before he even gets to her. The whole Ghost Joel theory is ridiculous and literally based on nothing.

Except Joel didn't seem to be tracking her down at all? He walks into the house as if he already knew she was there.

I'm pretty sure TLoU was announced about 18 months before released and it's fine to me, summer 2018 seems a safe bet for part 2. It's not like we are talking about The Last Guardian here.

We know it's coming, that is enough for me to hold me over until we see it again at E3 most likely.
