The Last of Us Part II announced

Well seeing how you've been unable to answer how being able to see through walls isn't essentially a cheat option/why you need it on other than being unable to cope without it, I'd say yeah it's there to make the game easier. Which is fine. I don't think you're stupid.

It is a mechanic that is in the game and enabled by default. The game isn't a stealth game, you're not meant to sneak past everything but figure out how to survive through a room when shit hits the fan. The hardest sections of the game (especially on the harder difficulties) don't even involve stealth, like having to hold out in a room while infected pour in. Arbitrarily deciding that a mechanic is "cheating" and everyone that uses it "is bad" is silly.

Its the same in the Souls games, you get people who decide that if someone uses heavy armor and a shield they're being cheap because it makes the game too easy. People want to find a reason to think they're better than others. Enjoy a game how you want to and let others do the same without trying to make them feel bad about it.

I'm kind of surprised to see so many people say TLoU doesn't need a sequel... I totally thought the ending WAS a sequel tease.

Yep, maybe not from a plot perspective, since their arc at that point was done. But it teased that their relationship could go places in the future.

Combine this with the comments in the Grounded doc, and an Ellie focused sequel was always a given.

Really wish this was actual gameplay instead of some... hype fuel.
Glad they changed her face a bit. I thought it was unfair to use Page's likeness without giving her proper credit.
I like the idea of calling it Part 2.

Why do you feel this way? When you played the original game did you shut it off when you had to control Ellie?

Course not. Loved the entire game.

I just see Joel engaging multiple bad guys being possible. Ellie doesn't have the physicality to slug it out.

Either they have reworked the combat system to be more agile, almost parkour/ninja like or it will be more narrative based.

The fist fights and almost desperation in how Joel tackled bad guys using whatever he could get his hands on and how Ellie responded to it, made the game what it was.

Can you see Ellie doing that?

There'll be no more, "Shit Joel!" moments.

I dunno....maybe they'll make it a more interesting and tactical caper with more environment options.

Why Ellie and Joel again?

The 2 went through so much shit. Can't the catch a break?
Really don't want to play a new game with them..

Dude, do you remember winter? The part with the lodges. I went through and iced all those mother fuckers with like 5 arrows, 3 shotgun rounds and my knife.

tried to come up with every idea on what knocked Ellie off her rocker and keep coming back to the death of Joel. Either something happened at Tomm'y while she was hunting and came back, or Joels last saving grace was saving her life. Joel in her head is trying to be the voice of reason because she knows exactly what he would say to her to try to keep her out of danger and stay safe.

I doubt a lover got killed, don't think they would go that route. I cant remember been a while since I played but did we ever find out the fate of Ellies mother, other than she probably is dead, maybe she was murdered and found out who did it?

Still leaning on Joels death however.

Hmmm, I got a totally different vibe from the trailer than most people it seems. I don't think there's anything mysterious about it really.

[The game picks up soon after Joel finally tells Ellie about what really happened at the end of the first game. To many fans' surprise, she agrees with Joel's morally grey, anti-heroic decision and develops a hate for the Fireflies fueled by their taking advantage and attempted murder of her.

I hope the combat is adjusted to suit her characteristics. Sneakier, faster and straight for the jugular.

I kinda wished they'd finished Joel's narrative for two thirds of this new game. Switch to Ellie towards the end and setup a 3rd game with full focus on Ellie.

Have to wait and see how they handle it.

I never thought of it that way, interesting.

In. Not gonna be my usual cynical self.

This would not have happened if naughty dog didn't they could do it justice.

Something tells me not this time, there could be a hundreds reasons why Ellie would like to go on a revenge killing spree. Although Joker in Batman:AA was also dead, but they played nicely with him beeing in the game.

Yeah but what on Earth makes the revolver some kind of thing that shows that he's not a ghost? You're not actually backing that strange argument up.

That was my take on the trailer too.

Honestly, the world of TLoU is highly generic post-apocalyptic stuff. The fungal infection is slightly more interesting that zombies, but really it's realigned zombie apocalypse.

Take away Ellie and Joel and you don't got much imo (although the side characters were good too).

Nah.

They could have created new characters on the other side of the world..

Shame on them for continuing a story that had a great ending. I don't know if it's a marketing/time decision or poor judgment from the directors, but they could have done something better than just a "Season Two" of a show that didn't need it. They'll turn it better than the fanfictions but anyway, what a chance missed.

This is stupid : with another story you take away Ellie and Joel but you create a whole new set of characters, and you can also change the time and location. This changes everything. Here you're stuck again.

My guess is that the fireflies found Ellie and Joel and while trying to get them ended up killing or destroying Joel's brothers camp and Ellie wants revenge.

I wonder if she knows the truth of what Joel did.

Fucking hyped.

I also think that Joel is dead and now Ellie is on the warpath against the fireflies, it would make sense given the location and the song she is singing with Joel entering from the light etc.

Theres some crazy theory that Joel is already dead, Ellie is getting revenge due to the fireflies killing him and what we see in the trailer is a metaphorical Joel acting as a conscience.

I just realized something. Now that ellie is older, the fanfic for Joellie is going to be more acceptable

Not that I'm interested in that.

Jesus

XD

Yea, folks have mentioned that (myself included!) on the previous pages.

If true, this game is gonna be a real tear-jerker

D:

No way that Ellie isn't the primary character this time around.

Naughty Dog should turn to scanning after this game. Their character models look cartoonish in comparison to the Reedus and Mikkelsen character models from the Death Stranding trailers.

Dafuq you on Bruh??

This fan art feels more official now

i wonder how long before someone goes and gets the same tattoo as ellie.

i'm insanely excited about this. the wait is gonna be tough.
