This game is dangerous. Thought I'd play for a bit after work and 3 hours ended up passing by.

Yeah, dangerous and sooo good. Yesterday I started playing at 10pm, when I watched the clock again, guess what?: 4am lol :(

For me (until now) this is an outstanding game. I really want to explore everything! The world is full of life, surprises and many secrets, all well packed in a huge and epic scale!

Vote for most useless rune? I'll go with the ice block one(I don't even remember the name because I never use it). Unless it suddenly becomes useful with an upgrade

This game. Read for one of the best experiences I've had the pleasure of having in a video game.

I am about 80 hours in and have yet to start the first main dungeon. I have fallen in love with everything the game set out to do. The exploration and world interactivity is second to none...which leads me to one of the best game experiences I have ever had. I should add that I am very fond of horses and that aspect of the game is pure happiness for me. From the Plateau my first stop was Twin Peaks stable and my next order of mission was registering five horses!

Having unlocked the towers at Great Plateau and Dual Peaks every other region was dark on my map. Anyway, in the name of exploration I ended up in a very far area from those. A very arid region. I was simply admiring the landscape and doing some gathering and herbing here and there when my sights fell on a team of wild horses.

Although the below has nothing to do with story or anything I want to be safe and spoiler tag it. It is related horses and taming. Not really spoilers but you never know.

No idea where I was – but it’s pretty far from the other places I am familiar with. In the midst of the horses I saw a very LARGE dark horse. About 3 times the size of a normal horse. I’m super giddy! Can I tame that??

I tried my best to sneak up on it. The mount button lit up! As soon as I jumped on it was kicking and bucking. Threw me off. Maybe I don’t have enough stamina? I couldn’t be sure because on one of the previous horses I tamed it took like 5 attempts before I was successful. After about 7-10 more failed attempts I gave up and teleported out. Maybe this one is untamable. I made a note on my map to come back later. Next, I decided to cook stamina replenishing food. Made my way back to the beast. Tried the food and after more failed attempts I left.

Continued a bit more with my questing – then I realized I can swap my hearts for stamina arcs…!! A light bulb. I converted 2 hearts to stamina. Now with 3 hearts and a bigger stamina meter I went back yet again along with some stealth buffs. Took me a while to find the bugger. I tried again…with the stamina gauge bigger the wrangling lasted a bit longer but in the end he kicked me off. Another 2 more tries and the same result. I decided that it’s either untamable or I still lack enough stamina. I gave up. I spotted some herbs and bugs nearby a tree and was collecting those. The horse was still nearby – I thought I’d try one more time since it’s very close. I snuck up…hopped on…it’s bucking like crazy…I’m trying to calm it down, my stamina meter was draining…I’m was about to get thrown off…then BEHOLD! IT SUCCUMBED!!!!

I tamed it, I was riding this giant of a horse!! My heart’s racing! So happy! OK. But how the hell do I get him to the only stable I know. I am so far away. Who knows what mountain, river and valley stood in my way. So I started a trek to make my way back to the only stable I know. Riding around carefully so as to not fall off a cliff or get attacked I started my trek. Often times my new companion would buck and kick but I kept soothing him.

Took me about 2-3 days in game time (maybe an hour?) of riding around and figuring out the landscape. Stopping and scoping out where there might be a path that leads to where I have to go. During this whole endeavor I was chased by moblins, keese, skeles on skele horses, assassins and more. I nearly took a tumble over a cliff once. I saw a BONE GIANT lurking in a valley! I came across new grasslands and the GIANT ELDIN BRIDGE! I passed by a few shrines which I completely ignored. I had to get to the stable. Well, I did make it back to the stable. And now I have this steed all saddled up. I spend time simply riding around and feeding it apples. Named him Arthas!

I’ve never had an experience like this in a game before. The sense of discovery in Breath of the Wild is nothing short of amazing. Simply beyond anything out there. Yes, it has what it takes to dethrone the king, Ocarina of Time. The last game I played 12 hours on a day was Ocarina of Time. Thank you, Zelda team!

Good to know I'm not the only one that thought the build up to the
Zora's Domain
was great. It easily ranks as one of my top gaming moments ever, you have to go through so much escalating and mountain climbing/hiking, and the enemies give you worthwhile weapons that make you really feel like you're progressing.

Test of Strength always ends up with the guardian charging for a strong beam blast at the end. Always satisfying to end the battle with a perfect parry.

Yeah, that was the part I had trouble with the last Test of Strength. Kept trying to dodge (and failing at it), thinking it would eventually switch to some kind of cooldown where I would need to attack. Eventually just went kamikaze on it's ass and just made it.

I need to talk to someone please. I'm I the only one who feels a tremendous sense of depression while playing this game. Why can't I lose myself to what is easily the best designed open world I have ever seen? I would like to know that it's a period I'm going through and not the game. Please private message me if you have similar feelings

Hey man, don't feel bad. I love this game, but I've definitely had to stop playing a few times because of some painful associations I have with Zelda in general. Definitely not that abnormal.

So I ran into a locked shrine that has a sign that reads
If you seek power untold, offer a shining blue stone
Anyone figure this out?

Are there other overworld bosses besides Stone Talus and Hinox? I've fought 5 Hinox now and haven't seen anything else

I ran into Molduga
sand worm
a couple times.

This game is honestly a marvel. So many littered puzzles. It's like the environment tricks you into doing a puzzle, while also making progress along the path towards your destination. Honestly, this game has surpassed my already sky high expectations.

hehe ^^

i actually went onto the maze myself, pushed the ball to one of the edges, lined it up with the hole and used stasis/hit it and it flew across...then i glided back over...

I accidentally Switches my bow view to first person. How can I go back to this person? Can't figure it out for the life of me.

Edit: Um, I guess it's just the Phentric Bow. False alarm! :P

It's insane to me that so many people went to
the Zora domain
first. I just flew off the plateau and made my way to the twin peaks. After 20 hours of aimlessly exploring I ended up somehow in
Rito Village
and did my first main story quest there.

Something fucking cool I just noticed. I am in a place where it's raining, fast traveled to another place on the other side of the map and it was clear skies. Went back to the same area and it's still raining

I just noticed Link has another chest opening animation when you open the chest from behind while crouched. It made me really happy for some reason.

So after completing the zora dungeon, mipha
is actually my waifu she even made me the traditional clothes to be her husband, too bad she's dead now....although...that's never stopped Japan before

Have to agree, the build up to Zora's Domain and the associated dungeon is fantastic. The actual dungeon was alright, and definitely different. Kinda simplistic, I beat it in about 45 minutes. And the boss was really easy, hope the others give more trouble. Dungeons are a definite weak point in the game so far, maybe the
elephant
was just an easy one. I liked it conceptually, and the solution to it was cool, I just wish it was more expansive/challenging

Weather changes are local.

Once I was going on a road with clear skies and in the distance I could see a mass of cloud and a thunderstorm in progress inside it.

This game is freaking nuts.

So I've played this game for 30 hours and I still haven't done the first temple.

And I finally found Hetsu again unfortunately he took off after upgrading a couple of times. I HAVE MORE SEEDS DAMN YOU.

Also found an area/pond with a bunch of those blue glowy animals, including a stag which I tried to mount but he threw me off. didnt get to try to hit any of them to see how much money I could get.

Bias: Metal Gear Solid 3 is one of my bar none absolute favorite games of all time, from the stamina food management to camo system. Its encounters and levels just feel incredibly alive and concise, super sharp but open to deal with enemy encounters exactly as you'd like.

Motherfucking Breath of the Wild reminds me so much of the evolution of that idea. It's incredible, unexpected, and never in a million YEARS did I think it'd be in a Zelda game. I'm in awe, and as someone who was super bored by Red Dead Redemption I'm so happy this game practically supersedes the genre it's inspired by most.

I actually went to Roto village first, well actually, I went to the sore region first and met did in but I didn't want to deal with lightning enemies at the time so I just fucked off, after just completing zora domain it kinda feels like it was designed to be the first place/dungeon

It is funny how...

...getting into Zora's Domain is kind of a pain in the ass due to the Zoras just swimming in and not maintaining the path.

There's one sort of
north west of Hyrule Castle
and one next to
Rito Village

EDIT: and one a bit more south
next to the plateau

Woo thanks for that!

Ended up going to your edited suggestion and a crazy chain of events unfolded

Spoiler's regarding a white horse:

so I found a white horse that I wanted to tame a little to the south of that horse statue by safula hill. Once I tamed it I wanted to go register it so I came here to ask if there was somewhere closer since the only one I had marked was by the rito. I followed your advice and made it to the stables, once there an old man was like YO DUDE THAT'S ZELDA'S HORSE! Then he just gave me a royal saddle and bridle.

My buddy played his copy all night at my place while I got comfy on the other couch in handheld mode. It was awesome just talking while we both explored.

Thing is about this game - even when I try not to rush, and try to explore, I feel like I'm missing so, so much. I spent an hour or so working my way up Death Mountain, and I think I maybe saw 10% of what's actually there on that little path.

My God - early boss spoiler (I think it's early anyway)

that massive dragon up on the mountain is one of the most incredibly epic things I've ever experienced in a video game.

And to beat it by floating around on the paraglide and slow mo shooting the eyes was the best fkn feeling.

I've been trying to tame that horse for a while. I don't have enough stamina yet.

So what do you guys think are the likelihood that Nintendo will release a patch for this game to mitigate the frame drops and performance issue (at least for the Switch version) later down the line?
