What's up with the
Yin Clan
and their apparent obsession with bananas... ?

Because you can't have legit cool
human enemies
, gotta give them a bannana fetish and a
goofy leader
to take aaaaaaaalll the menace away.

So, as I said earlier in the topic Im a bit jaded on 3d Zeldas, but was going to pick the game up today and post impressions.

I just woke up, should I rush to the store now to grab it, or wait and pick it up at my leisure later?

I'm off work for 2 days.

Get it when you can. It's fantastic, nothing like previous Zeldas (well, it has Zelda style puzzles and combat) and is massive. You don't need to rush out and get it (though it's very, very good. and it will last you a loooooong time if you want it to.

I've actually got 16 on my save before the fight.

I think they recommend 20 but I'm not sure if it forces you to do it if you're below 20. I went in with like 28 or something and left with over 60 (I fought it and took most in the area).

I wish they weren't so easy to kill. My first one was tough, but it's easy to kill them with just arrows.

I would pick it up early. If it gets its hooks in you, you'll appreciate the extra time to play.

So from my understanding this game does not use scaling for enemies, or at least general enemies. What about mini bosses? Dungeon bosses?

I think is the same, mini bosses don't seem to scale at all. It will all depend on the area you are that will determine the strenght of the enemies and of course the weapon they are holding. I have only fought one dungeon boss
Ruto's boss . It was a bit tricky, but seem easier than some outside battles. I think is done to make progression a bit easier since is kind of important to win those battles, compare to a battle in the outside field that is more optional.

For mini bosses, the three I fought were actually rather easy (I am counting mini bosses as the ones that have special name highlighted on top and music is different).

Lynel is not consider a mini boss based on this criteria...but is the most powerful enemy I have found in this game O_O It kicked my ass like none of the other have. Is life is like 2000, has multiple form of attack with slashing, long distance arrows, two style of charges and really high defense. It does have some weakness...but they aren't easy to exploit!!

I'm reasonably sure that harder enemies start spawning where they didn't before as you progress -- But I'm not sure what it's linked to. E.g., I saw a lynel appear later in the game in an area where I'd never seen one my first times through.

Incidentally I've been scanning my red goblin amiibo every day and its rewards have been scaling up as I've progressed.

Well, I apologize, but I didn't know it was a big reveal because I saw one at the start of the game in the newbie area and thought it was something everyone saw at the start of the game in the newbie area. I just spent an hour looking for this one and was relieved and giffed it. The idea that it'd be upsetting never crossed my mind.

Wait, it's in the Plateau?

I agree. I took down two Molduga as my first overworld bosses, with only three hearts and a handful of bomb arrows, and without food or equipment to decrease heat damage. I stumbled onto a
Lynel
last night and got a sound spanking every time I approached.

I think you are right in this. At least in my game Lyzardos have begin to appear near river that they never did before, usually rivers near hatano and stuff (I didn't fight them, but I saw some weird water movement and they were two swimming in the river were I never saw them before).

Not sure that I'd say to rush out and get it, but it's a very different experience from 3D Zelda as you know it, and it's a game that can last you a good long while if it clicks.

For the time being I've completely given up on the main plot and I'm just sort of seeing how deep I can make it into Hyrule Castle for a couple sidequests when I'm ill equipped to even be looking at the place.

Go now. Play it as soon as you can. Thank me later.

so wait, are the 'advanced' combat moves like the parry and flurry counter locked until you find the shrine trial for them? Because I was definitely trying to sidestep in combat, when it didn't work I was getting very frustrated at how clunky everything felt. They really should have put that shrine in the starter area.

That's as far as I got with the game - if there are more shrines with absolute essentials like that one I guess I'd like to know so I can actively seek them out.

Also I spent a good 5 minutes trying to create a bridge to a treasure chest with some planks before I realized
the chest itself was magnetic.

If I sneak into Hyrule Castle early, and grab as many items as I can, will I be disadvantaged later, after they break, since I can't get them back? Are they scaled for the end game?

A friend of mine has lent me his WiiU, and I have bought Zelda. This will be my first time playing on a WiiU - does this game support the off-screen play? As in, can I play this game using the gamepad's screen? May be handy if my girlfriend wants to watch tv.

Nah, it's just the first real tutorial on them. Which is kind of weird to have it there and not on the plateau as one of the first shrines.

Yup, just tap the screen to play there.

So I actually managed to hit a framerate of 0 fps on the Wii U version.

I was in the snow region (Hebra I think?) and I was fighting a few moblins.

I got a headshot with the bow and the game just literally fucking stopped. Mind you, it also had to deal with snow effects.

I don't think I've ever seen that in a game lmao

I think there are some issues with CPU calculation that causes the game to freeze, particularly with Moblin enemies.

They need another patch ASAP.

regarding the pictures, do I get any hints on where the castle picture is. It looks like it's on Hyrule castle somewhere, but I can't find it.

20 are required to advance the mission. I wound up taking my pic back and getting the complete
Zora armor set
. I went and upgraded it too. When I approached the mountain top again, the Lynel was on the other side so I could actually sneak. My original encounter had him spot me immediately so I had no choice but to fight.

Been playing mostly in handheld mode but got some time in on the big screen yesterday, I was just north of kakariko at
the great fairy area
and saw massive from rate drops, like n64 perfect dark during games of all explosives type drop

Have you zoomed in on the map and looked for formations that might look as the picture?

Did it continue after that stopped? Cause for me it happen twice (on Wii U that is). It was a hiccup thought, everything stopped but continue normal afterwards. It was in a hill near the akehala (or something like that) region with rain, was withing a giant bokogoblin. I also hit a headshot, a sudden freeze and then continue (for a second I thougtht the game crashed). It happen again in same area some 10 minutes later...hasn't happen again, even in Death Mountain with all the fire particles flying around O_O

Do weather resistance effects stack? Like, if I have a low cold resistance shirt and make a low cold resistance elixir, do both properties work together or does the elixir cancel out the effect of the shirt?

There's an NPC found in various villages and stables
he's a painter
that offers hints. I received a hint for that specific photo from him.

I think non-chest items respawn?

I've at least noticed that the axe in the starting area respawned at some point

This has been my observation as well. I think it may have something to do with the respawns from Bloodmoons and what it's respawning? Not sure. I definitely saw an increase in blue and black Bokoblins in starter areas before I even tackled the first dungeon.

Korok seed puzzle question:
Are three indentcal trees in a row a korok puzzle? Seen these a few times and can't help but think it is, yet cannot figure it out.

Both properties work together, in the inventory menu you'll see that there are three levels of "[x] resistance" so if you have a cold res shirt you can drink a cold res potion to give you 2 levels.

[Official Guide Info]
There's an internal counter of how many of each type of enemy you've defeated, the game respawns harder varieties of that enemy accordingly.

Man, we were probably lucky to just get the first patch

Yeah, the game continued after like 2 seconds. I thought it craahed too lol

I've had the same experience. I wonder if there's some small level of scaling going on tied to spirit orbs or something? I also have noticed that chests, even in shrines in easier areas, are containing better and better gear than when I had first started the game.

EDIT: Saw that guide info, makes sense.

Also started getting attacked by
super ninjas
later in the game in seemingly any area. One of them dropped a
windblade that fires wind when you swing i
t.

I never saw a single silver enemy until I beat the game. Now that my save file has the 'You beat the game' star on it, they're everywhere, and there are no simple red enemies left anywhere in the world as far as I can tell. Which is a pain as I need to take some pictures of beginner gear.

So it might be linked to game clearance or it might be linked to shrines clearance. I've cleared about 90 shrines. Full stamina and I think about 13-14 hearts.

The leader wasn't the scary one. I got ambushed by a dude later in the game with tons of HP, super damaging attacks, and he couldn't be staggered or interrupted. Get gud with flurry counters or food through him.
