Breath of the Wild could use an NG+ where you keep your stuff.

Yeahhh this would be super sweet. I love how large the game is (mostly) but replays... I dunno. There's... quite a lot to do. I think it would be great if they offered this at least so that you wouldn't have to spend so much time doing the smaller things or having to go through all the shrines again. A NG+ mode with all your hearts/inventory would be fantastic and would make replays a lot more efficient.

I love the game but I kinda feel like I'd never really start it over again and I think that's fair grounds for criticism. NG+ would alleviate this to a degree.

Yea the only way I can see myself replaying the game is if the Hard Mode coming with the DLC really changes things up

So after you beat it you can't go back to 100% it?

In the early Hateno sidequest 'weapon connoisseur' you have to find a moblin club... But I've gotten so many blood moons now that all enemies are tougher... I think. Is there a guaranteed spot for 'basic' moblins? Most seem to have upgraded. I found a spiked moblin club, but the boy's specific :( Going to check close to the plateau, think there are some there.

3/4 dungeons done. Tomorrow is another freeroam day, focusing on the remainder of the pillars first. It's going to be satisfying when I finally have the full map. Planning on beating the story this weekend. Took the week off for this game, did not regret that one bit.

40 hours in and I left the east side of the world map for the first time, heading to the southern areas. The game does such a good job of making different parts of the world look and feel different.

More than a NG+ I would like a mode where you start with every rune and the paraglider directly so you can get total freedom. Hope it's the case with the hard mode

So (tiny side quest, neat moment spoiler in Faron)
I come to this heart-shaped pool and see a guy and a Gerudo woman on either side. I talk to the guy and he asks me, some stranger, to go hand some flowers to the woman. Then when they talk the guy completely fumbles his lines and stutters constantly.

I didn't know NeoGAF was in this game.

So I stumbled into my first random L
ynel
and got utterly wrecked. Decided to test out an Ancient Arrow and the thing just utterly disappeared, no loot, just vanished from this dimension. Is that intended? It seems like it kinda is cause I got gud and killed him properly, and was rewarded with delicious loot.

Also, parrying guardians: Once you learn the timing you're able to do it like 95% of the time. I love Guardians.

Yes, the Arrows obliterate all common enemies with one shot, but it doesn't give you loot, I think it would too easy if they did.

I'm kind of overwhelmed at the moment. Should I follow the main quest up to a certain point? I'm only up to Kakariko, just met
Impa
(really early stuff). Or should I just keep going up to mountaintops and scan the environment for points of interest?

Do whatever your heart desires.

Is there any point in hanging on to weapons that seem to be iconic in the game world? Like Scimitar of the Seven which Urbosa apparently used? It's about to break and I'm not sure if I can repair these kinds of weapons or not.

Well, that's the beauty of the game: it's up to you. You could go for the main quest, but I remember early on I activated a few pillars to get some map info and did a bunch of shrines to get heart containers. Once you're tired of that, you can pick a side and go find one of the beasts.

I just left Kakariko. I've done some exploring in the general area, have like 10 or so shrines and 15 or so koroks. I enjoy exploring a lot but once I realize I'm getting too far off I go back to the main quest so I have a new general direction as to where to explore.

God fucking damn this game. I just, by complete accident, stumbled on (town spoilers)
Lurelin Village. I saw a boat lit up through the rain, and a shrine in the distance. I glide down to the boat first, the name pops up and I'm suddenly in a whole new village I had no idea even existed. Had I have known this was here I wouldn't have had nearly as surprised a reaction.

Good point! It definitely felt way more rewarding improving and actually beating it. He dropped some nice stuff, too.

Wrong color (I know) but thought the name was fitting!

The
sand seal bomb arrow vah naboris section
is way too hard to have an long unskippable intro. I've had to sit through it 4 times now mashing buttons

I've unlocked the towers in all regions, but was there anything that would have guided you to explore the F
aron
region outside from mere curiosity and filling in the blanks?

I would talk to Impa a couple times. After you go a few steps deep into the main quest, she will send you to
Hateno village
. I would say it's worth doing that part of the main quest before jumping fully into exploration.

There's nothing keeping you from moving on at your pace though. Once you're ready, I'd say just pick a direction and wander. Find whatever interests you in the distance and go there. You'll find yourself in cool places.

Aside from visiting the scientist Impa mentions it really is play how YOU want to play at that point. I had around 7 hearts by the time I did my first main dungeon.

Is there a way to take a registered horse and set it free again? Or should I take a couple horses for a long walk that they don't come back from?

I don't know, but I know that you can put a horse in a situation where it dies. Or try to run one off a high cliff.

I think they rotate out after 5 based on which one you want to set free. If you take a new horse out the other one will return to the stable automatically unless it is THAT walk we are talking about then I suppose not much can come back from that.

Is there really no cooking pan in Gerudo City? Looked everywhere for it. Kind of strange as there is a cooking class there...

I had literally the same experience earlier today.

Heh, that's where I am in the story. I actually just discovered
Hateno
Village. Just stumbled onto it, didn't realize this is where I was supposed to be headed.

I like the shrines, think I'll hunt down some shrines right now. Thanks everyone. I know I should just play like I want to, but if you give me too much freedom I will end up way out of my depth and quit the game from frustration lol.

The sense of adventure in this game is something else and I feel I'm still early on. Decided to wonder into a completely unknown territory and got ambushed by a horde of riders and barely made an escape to a top of a mountain. I feel like I'm completely under leveled into this area and actually feel intimated to wonder on. It's a great feeling to experience such a mystery and the world has the ability to surprise you constantly.

Also love the placement of the Korok, almost accidentally just found four when decided to check some strange looking locations. I've only found total 15 so far.

After you visit the person
Impa
tells you to, you should spend some time going and doing whatever you want. It was overwhelming for me too so I went with this pattern:

1) Free roam / explore. If entering new region, head for the tower first and foremost.
2) Do some side quests
3) Find and do some shrines (maybe 2-3 at a time?)
4) Main quest

Then repeat. I cant do one of those for too long so its nice to alternate.

I also like to alternate the regions I visit. So something like Story region > non story region and so on.

I didnt think that entire region was even explorable. Imagine my surprise when I went
southwest of Hateno
and suddenly I discover a new region with an awesome new village in it. I really felt like an explorer then lol

I'm 10hrs in, just visited the
Tech Institute
place and got my Sheika slate upgraded.

At this point, should I be trying to knock off shrines and upgrade health and stamina before proceeding with main quest. I currently only have 4 hearts.

People saying this isn't a "real" Zelda game didn't get anywhere near a dungeon, right?

This game man. This fucking game.

Also performance drops at
Zora's domain
my ass, it didn't drop one frame in that area.
