Julieta was a shit character, the ending was terrible. Gaelio was useless. At least Iok died. First and last Gundam show I ever watch, what a waste of time.
You know I don't mind Rustal surviving but I don't think having Rustal doing the reforming or treaty sits right with alot of people. Rustal and the 7 stars represents the corruption of Gjallarhorn which is why McGillis wanted to reform in the first place.
This was by far one of the best Gundam series in years, and was such a refreshing departure for the franchise's 38 years.
Seeing Tekkadan go from viewed as these heroic figures to understanding that they're just kids who know nothing about life other than fighting is really fascinating. The actions that Tekkadan takes are truly horrific. This wasn't the classic Gundam trope of good vs. evil, or right vs. wrong, and that made the show all the better for it.
It's arguably good that Tekkadan ultimately lost, as the epilogue demonstrated the impact of everything. Tekkadan themselves were essentially inconsequential. It was McGillis that would be vilified publicly. It showed that some could potentially live 'normal' lives, where as others, like Ride, would not let go of the past and continue to do the only thing they know how, which is to fight and be terrorists.
That was me. People seem to be mad that the "bad guys" won, but there were no real good guys. Everyone was required in order to reach a point where the good ending happened.
Without Tekkadan, without Ghallajorn, there is no Mars indepedence. There are no freed slaves.
As an example, McGillis is needed to wake up the complacent Galileo and tear down Ghallarjorn to the point that Rustal has to save face by going the way it did.
Tekkadan was a low-level mob. Ghallajorn was a corrupt, aristocratic order without hope of reform. Everyone lost and everyone honestly won.
I think most are probably salty about Rustal getting away scot-free, but eh. He was more a force of nature than a character.
Yup.
I mean, Rustal is at the top, but McGillis' ambitions were largely realized and even GaliGali "got" the other side by the end.
The Mobile Armor arc is what makes the show complete. It showed us a glimpse of the world that made the current one. The fables of the Gundams, the founding of the world police as a knightly order, the question of why these fantastical and unrealistic things linger in an otherwise pragmatic setting. It is because once the world was united against an inhuman enemy, and there was a need for those with power, and heroes who would rise above politics and morality, to fight that enemy. Barbartos destroying the Mobile Armor reaffirmed McDumbass' delusions. It made him believe those values still hold true today. It is what motivates the entire second half of the season. Except the world no longer works that way. That's the point.
Okay now you are free to go beat Shiva.

I'm honestly just sad it's over. I just really liked this show and wished it had a longer arc.

If they ever make more IBO anime, I want them to explore the past, not the future. I don't want a sequel ever in any form. I want them to leave the ending as it is. But I would love to have a balls to the wall huge budget Calamity War movie.![]()
Ride's Counterattack when?

Strangely enough the McGillis loli wife is no where to be seen lol.

She is given the mission to stall and distract Mika and she superbly did that mission. Whats wrong with that lol.
Hell. without Julietta, Rustal is already dead lol. She is literally the best pilot with no AV in the series there.
Why you lying, huh? It was clearly shown that Amida was a better pilot than Julietta. Mika shouldn't have played with his preyand just killed her like he has done with any other combatant he's faced. Had he done that, Shino would've lived along with everyone else up to that point. But who knows the world that would've been forged. They likely would've had to kill Mcgillis, drunk on his obsession with power unless he truly desired to grant everyone equal standing. *EDIT* Sorry if it appears I'm jumping on you, I'm not.
OT though, I thought the ending was great, Nobliss and Iok died, sadly Rustal did not, nor were his crimes and underhanded tactics acknowledged by anyone. Still, at least, the heads of Tekkadan created a world where their family can live without sacrificing their lives on the battlefield. I'm glad Kudelia, Atra, Cookie and Cracker seem to be living fulfilling and peaceful lives. That's all Orga wanted for his family and I'm glad the reached that goal even if every single Tekkadan didn't live to see the sunrise.

I love the ending and wouldn't mind being wrong but I can't shake the feeling they're going to make a finale movie ala Endless Waltz. This felt like a Good end but not a True end.
I think now that all the pieces are in place you'll see a time of peace but only because Rustal is waiting for the moment to gain supreme control. That control would come from either Iok's men that want to redeem their leader, or the framing of Tekkadan through Ride's guerrilla unit. Eventually, Mika's son will learn from his father after entering the cockpit of Bael who was restored using the remains of Barbatos, (Juliet beheaded Barbatos but the cockpit is left unseen). Gundam Hijinks ensue. Oh and Gaelio is going to be a fleet captain that sees the full picture and sides with the reformed Tekkadan.
Hope I'm wrong!
Overall great ending, IBO my third favorite Gundam, will watch more if they make them. The only question I have. Why is Gaelio on a wheelchair? Is it just age deterioration or was he injured? That didn't seem right. 10/10 episode.
I do like how the ending continued to invalidate Orga's insanely vague "place for Tekkadan" ideal. Between Mika's "We'd already made it." and the epilogue scenes of Tekkadan members settling down in all sorts of non-mercenary jobs, I thought it really showed that they pushed too hard for something that they already had or obtained.
Amida is facing Julietta who is still getting used with the new suits though.^^ But even if Amida is more powerful, at least now in the universe, the only one who is still alive is Julietta there.^^
Great point, kinda like Mika but on a lesser scale with effects surfacing years later? Or maybe he somehow removed his AV? Not sure if he truly had oneOveruse of Ein probably. lol

I think he was having the AV ports taken out or whatever. Hence the bandage on his neck. What with all the 'what it means to be human' talk it makes sense he'd be trying to restore himself.
I thought the thing with Rustal at the end makes perfect sense. If somebody as outwardly insane and delusional as McDouble can see how corrupt and broken and utterly ineffectual Gjallarhorn is, of course Rustal, every bit better and more calculating and intelligent could. He could use this victory to prop himself up and keep Gjallarhorn as an entity through force of will for a time, sure. But he's playing the long game. Where he knows this is the most sensible, pragmatic long term outcome for both himself and his position. The man isn't a cartoon villain. He knows if the government collapses it would be all out war without the balancing force of their overwhelming military might (despite most of them being incompetent at best).
He essentially had the choice to reform and make changes or be dragged down in more war and more needless conflicts. And he made the pragmatic one available to him.
It's a great ending.
It goes to show Rustal is the smartest person ever in the series. What he does so far can't be pinned on him. The Arbrau and SAU war? The blame goes to Galan Mossa.OT though, I thought the ending was great, Nobliss and Iok died, sadly Rustal did not, nor were his crimes and underhanded tactics acknowledged by anyone.
Straight bull lol and you know it. Like people are saying, she's a middling pilot. She waited until catastrophic damage had been done to Barbatos and Gusion and let her subordinates die, she knew what was up! Mika should've self destructed and took out Rustal's pawns and Bishop, that way there'd be a power vacuum allowing Kudelia to supplant her self into a position of power and bring about real change and disarm Ghallarjorn.
Why is Gaelio on a wheelchair? Is it just age deterioration or was he injured? That didn't seem right. 10/10 episode.
Lol. Julietta had been keep calling the subordinates to not join the battle though. it is not like she literally stand behind and just keep dwindling her thumb lol.
She went hard toward Barbatos even when it is overclocked there and easily parry all Barbatos attack so i can't see how you said she is a middling pilot when you see how easy Barbatos had been taking down all other suits there.
It actually makes me wonder if this was McGillis' plan after he got beat in Earth orbit. It didn't really seem like him to go solo into Elion's fleet like that so maybe all of the stuff he was doing while they were cooped up in the Tekkadan base was stuff in the background to move everything in the direction he wanted after it all went down. Or he could just be a crazy.
Vidar AV connector removal. The black bar he had around his neck is gone with bandages over it.
That makes sense, yeah. Re-watched the episode and I have a new questions. How did Mika's kid get the 3 bracelet Atra made? Did Gjallarhorn go out of their way to find Atra and give it back to her? Also the Gundam being stored has parts from Barbatos so is Mika not dead yet? I mean, Gjallarhorn made a copy of Ein, maybe Mika is...
Anyone else think Mika's/Barabtos' death was a call back to Hashmal's destruction?
Both were killed with a blow to the neck/head by opponents smaller than them. Both were basically rampaging at the end. Both were basically weapons of the old world.
