GAF... Have I ruined this opportunity? (Girl advice needed)

I have to go back to my conference. I had an hour for lunch. I have a plan, though. She started off at her current payroll gig as a bank teller. I asked her if she ever had anyone demand money and we talked about how current bank robberies were never planned and you end up getting caught a block away.

So I'm going to go the the bookstore here, buy a book on famous bank robbers and leave a note inside and take it to her work. She's on vacation this week so I won't run into her and make it awkward. I'll tell the receptionist she left the book on the plane. I'll put a note inside apologizing and I'll leave my name and number. It will be up to her then.
I like it! At least this way you won't have regrets.

Please don't do this.

Good for you, OP. I would have given up at this point.

I like it. You will succeed. Believe in the GAF that believes in you.

Nice idea OP. Swing for the fences.

It might take more than a day OP, you don't exactly know when her lunch break is, maybe she had the day off, or she might not frequent that spot everyday.

Patience young padawan.

Good luck though!

I like this too :)

Nah, I'm actually pretty optimistic.

Y'all are horrible.

Yeah I'm sure she wanted you to check it out at the exact same time she is.
Like all I'm saying is not everything is an invitation. Maybe it is and maybe it isn't.

Or that person could just be inherently friendly and even if she liked him, a dude showing up at a place you eat regularly is sorta fucking creepy. Nothing about that exchange told me she was so in love with him she could overlook what is potentially looking like a stalker.

Sometimes, people are just nice. Take the L and learn from it.

So optimistic...

Well, I'm glad you're not giving up on her. I think that's a pretty good idea since you put thought into it from the conversation you had with her. Let's just hope she gets it, but I believe she will. If you hear anything back from her post an update, would love to see how everything pans out for you. Good luck OP!

Good idea OP, expect a call from her. Become Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy and create your own Midnight.

you know the exact bank she works at?

sounds like she was extremely detailed in her information to you

say something like, "Let me make it up to you. ~the idiot from the plane", along with your name and number.

That's fine since she volunteered that information to you I guess. If she doesn't like the attempt, she can just ignore it and you're not around to bother her anyway. If it works, she can initiate contact.

Don't stand around the lobby waiting for her to show up if someone says she might be around, though. That's too much at this point. Just leave your note and leave. Nothing else. And dont write any love letters, really just your name and number are fine, maybe a little doodle of an airplane. Leaving it at all is already high-key so the note needs to be low-key.

Cute.

I guess TheSpoiler's objection is based off the fact that the girl might find this gesture creepy, and it might make her feel unsafe at work. I think that's a stretch, personally - but can GAF think of anything to include in the note to soften it or make it as uncreepy as possible?

This is fair.

This is actually a pretty good plan. You will make it! I'm sure of it!!

Yes, she told me where she works exactly. Where she usually eats as she recommended it to me. She even told me where she gets cookies and where she got her tats done. It's all within walking distance of her work which is literally staring my in the face as I'm talking to my boss outside the hotel we are at.

You said you live a 2 hour drive away so the flight was probably what, 30 minutes at most? Come on OP, this is extremely desperate behaviour over someone you've spoke to for less than an hour.

This is a bad idea. Especially the part about buying a book about bank robbers and leaving it. That is dumb.

I blew way too many chances with women when I was younger ( due to being too stupid to realize they were interested). Don't blow this OP.

OP do you own a Switch? It would be really cool if you could meet her and show her how far video games have come.

This is too cute. Wish you all the best mate. Nothing like regretting a missed opportunity at least you have a chance to make things right

This sounds like a restraining order waiting to happen.

Do the lunch thing, pretend to just to eat there and hopefully run into her, at least then it's casual and not like you're stalking her.

In the history of GAF I have seen stupider ideas, but not many.

Starting to think this isn't a real thread because this is Michael Scott levels of weird.

They talked for hours. Why Not give it a chance?
I actually think her Workplace is not that far away from his hotel. The conference is 2 hours away.

I wasn't flying from where I live. I was en route from Atlantic City. We spent a couple hours talking.

It's already blown though. Situations like the plane conversation are unique and fleeting. To try to recapture that will lead to nothing but disappointment. Strike while the iron is hot and all that; the iron has cooled, opie.

But you do you though.

Obviously OP had some real chemistry with this girl, why talk him down from a simple gesture like the one he's attempting? It's not like he's camping in her damn driveway or something. It's a low risk/high reward move.

Too much negativity in this thread, I swear...

Yep i dont get it either. You have to be extremely insecure to be so scared of a negative outcome.

Just the fact that he's not waiting there hanging out at a place that she hasn't told him she'll be already makes it 400% above similar horror stories

I'm very surprised detective gaf hasn't come in to ask OP questions about the woman and five minutes later know her life story.

It's obvious the OP likes her a lot if he's willing to wait for her in a restaurant and eat a struggle sandwich. Btw how much did you pay for it?

As people have said before, you have nothing to lose. Give it a shot.

This gesture is super, super romantic movie cute. Real life cute though? I'm not so sure. As a woman, unless I truly felt there was a mutual personality click and physical attraction, I would think this is a bit desperate and possibly creepy. I mean, it's her JOB. Not always the most appropriate place for these kinds of things and I'd be annoyed if it was done at mine.

Either way, I do hope it works out for you though. Life's too short, it's worth a shot. Just end it at the book if you hear nothing else. That HAS to be the end of this or then you truly are a total creeper.
