So I made a drawing, but it doesnt seem to be showing up in my Status Info profile... Anyone have any insight about how this works?

I posted it on my Twitter, but removed the pretyped hashtags, not sure if that is the issue... Thanks!

saw this playing splat zones lol

That's Jeff Gertsmann's handiwork.

Whoops, I wrote that wrong. The further along in the story you unlock the weapon in story mode, the higher level you need to level up in multiplayer to buy it.

For example, you get the Hero Roller early in the game, so you only have to be level 3 or so in multiplayer to unlock it in the store. The weapon I beat every level with you don't get until late in the game, so I have to be level 20 to buy it.

Ohhh ok. I was planning on beating everything with every weapon but maybe that's a bit too much lol.

Wasn't going to go the scumbag route with the Aerospray but it has the curling bomb launcher too? Come on Nintendo lmao

How do you switch weapons in the single player mode? Couldn't figure that out after Sheldon explained it

You just push + in the hub. The first time you play through the story, Sheldon is going to have special requests for almost every stage, so you're really not going to be able to use the weapon you want until the second time through for most stages (or in the hub)

What a pointlessly dumb design decision. Did the first Splatoon do this?

stay off the hook

i wish it had a goddamn fast forward button at least. I don't mind it at the beginning of a longer session but sometimes i only have x time to play a quick match

I love what they´ve done with the roller, it´s the most complex weapon to use properly but it has so many options:
  • Tap ZR to flick for an horizontal attack. Great for close range attacks and to cover ground or attack enemies from high points. It´s been terribly nerfed but still works as a close range OHKO.
  • Tap ZR, then jump for a jumping horizontal flick. It gives some extra range to the normal flick, makes you more mobile (try jumping sideways to avoid the enemy) and is great to deal with enemies at not too-high points when they´re moving and you can´t pinpoint their exact location.
  • Tap jump, then ZR for the vertical attack. Insane range for a OHKO, great to paint walls, great against enemies at high points and awesome for painting quickly long stretches and moving around in ink. It slow though, so it´s not recommended in close range. It´s also pretty thin, so some aiming is also required.
  • Hold ZR to roll, good to paint wide but not long areas, in close range against enemies that move a lot (though the horizontal flick is better) and against enemies jumping to a location. Anyway, this should be what you use the least.
It was one of the simplest weapons in Splatoon 1, but the vertical flick adds a lot to it. Trying to use each of the 3 flicks in the best situation (or the roll) makes it a lot of fun to use. Each attack has it´s pros and cons so the weapon feels like it has a lot of depth now. Unlike the rest of the weapons where you usually just want to stay at the optimal range, the roller is viable at different ranges if you can use all it´s properties. The sub and special each address long and close range and even help moving around. It uses a lot of ink though, so I´d recommend some ink saving gear to be more active.

It's not really scumbag tho. I play mostly Aerospray and typically get killed pretty easily in a straight fire fight. Each weapon has it's perks and weaknesses.

Thanksfully they added a fast forward to Sheldon, what a fucking blessing.

Should have applied it to everything in the game though.

Amiibos woo!
I think the new ones and the old ones go together quite well.

I've been greatly enjoying Splatoon 2, but man the voice chat app sucks, and I wish Salmon Run weren't on this weird timer schedule.

It's still pretty good to cover ground and can easily drop someone if you get the jump on them. It's a beast in Turf War, and was always my go-to weapon.

Wouldn't use it for ranked though.

It seemed so overpowered in Splatoon 1 until everyone realized you can kite it so easily.

It's not a bad weapon against newbies and can be a powerful weapon against skilled players if used well. I got lit up 4 times in 1 match by someone who was damn good with the roller.

Salmon Run makes earning cash too easy compared to how Splatoon 1 went. I'm sitting on $120k right now with nothing to buy in store or on the Nintendo app.

So many bad teams tonight, this matchmaking is wild

The worst for me are the matches that are 30-60. I love when it's a close game.

I just can't play this game at all. :(

Every time it's me against one other person I always just get killed, and it usually happens shortly after respawning. I don't know if it's just because a lot of the people playing now have had 2 years of practice, but it's really frustrating and I die so quickly I don't even feel like I have a chance to get better.

the jumping vertical flick letting you swat inkFLUDDers outta the air is a godsend. Just cos you a roller don't mean you ain't no threat no more

What weapon are you playing with?

If you go into the game hoping to get into fights, try playing more defensively and concentrate on covering the ground. Save up a special and then attack with that.

Yeah, Carbon Rollers in S Rank were frightening. I like that for a weapon which is mainly based in mobility more thain aim, you now also have to use different shooting modes. It's the most fun to use in S2 atm IMO.

The popularity algorithm they're running for miiverse posts must be running overtime, i always see fobwashed, jeff.g, i saw a post by a anime VA today and needless to say all the meme stuff is ever-present

Mario Odyssey is looking really great, but the galaxy-like structure of splatoon single-player is making me wish for another Galaxy.
It looks amazing (and feels amazing thanks to 60FPS).

Okay this game is seriously just fucking with me now. 2 vs 4? Seriously? I guess I'm never allowed to win a single fucking match ever again.

Yeah, that's kind of what you have to expect. The game just came out. Everyone is gonna be starting up a new character, and you can be sure there'll be a ton of experienced players from the first game starting out. It'll be a while before matchmaking works properly to pair you against players of similar level.

Just got round to checking my "battle stats" on the splatoon app, and they seem incorrect.

I've been getting over 2000p in a lot of matches but it's showing around 1000p. Am I missing something?

Not overly important but it should be accurate right?!

Dualies, since I feel like the dodge helps a bit. I guess I should use the Roller but I really don't want to, and don't feel like it'll help me get better at aiming much, which is my issue as I try to get used to these motion controls (I wish I could still move the Y-Axis with the joystick and fine-tune with gyro, like in BotW).

I've been trying to focus on covering the ground rather than getting in firefights, but then it seems like I'm not pulling my weight because we usually end up with just a bit around our spawn covered and if I try to branch out the bad guys find me and end me pretty quickly. :p

I guess I should get better at utilizing the specials, like you say.

They need to nerf fobwashed. His art is too good.

Probably isn't counting the win bonus, which is 1000p

I don't think it counts the 1000p bonus for winning.

hunt in packs, it's fine to blaze ahead at the outset but splatoon is imho a game mainly about flanking and surprising enemies and other players are 100% your best distraction. And by following a friend and shooting you're automatically creating more coverage zones even if you miss

Dualies probably aren't the most beginner friendly, tbh. Try mixing it up with a couple rounds with each weapon. Find one you like and stick with it for a while.

Covering ground is what ultimately wins the match. If you're covering new patches or enemy colored ground, you are helping your team.

You can also tag along side a player to get a feel for how they move around the map.

Earlier today I jumped from a high place, killed an InkFLUDDer in mid-air with a VFlick, then used splashdown before touching the ground to kill the 2 inklings that had jumped to it's location. Awesome 3 kill-combo! It felt amazing :D

First game with the Aerospray, we won 51-40, and it was 3 v 4 lmao.

Games like these always make me wonder if the game actually does matchmake based on weapons. I salute you Quad Roller Squad! I was just like you once upon a time!
