I'll apologize in advance for my shit salmon run skills (if i get paired with Gaffers :D), I'm not interested in the mode - but i want the sweet drinks.

Save your teammates.
Always prioritize your teammates unless it's a literal suicide to do so.
You can use Bombs to save teammates.
SAVE YOUR TEAMMATES FOR THE LOVE O-
YOU JUST WALKED PAST ME TO KILL SMALLFRY
SAVE YOUR FREAKING TEAMMATES

If you have reached your quota, and there are 15 seconds or less left and you are not by any enemies DO NOT SAVE YOUR TEAMMATES, SURVIVE.

This reminds me that I need to max out the Grizzco shirt so I can scrub it for parts later.

Can someone please point me to a chart that shows what all the ability icons in this game mean? It's incredibly frustrating going on SplatNet and not knowing what some or the ability icons are and not being able to find out anywhere
Yeah... it's baffling that they don't have the actual names of the abilities there.

Many baffling decisions made by Nintendo for this game...
I think there's a page which talks about abilities if you open up the X menu. I forgot the exact path to the abilities page, but it also shows how many chunks you have per ability.

yeah this for sure

after the quota and i see people dying halfway across the map im gone, ill literally race around the edges of the map if i have to, works every time
this kinda became the norm at the really high paygrades, its just worth it to finish the game as opposed to risking death and going way over the quota

Thanks for the tips with the ink brush. I'll save up to make s build for it in the future.

I've really been trying to get adjusted to the motion controlls, but I can't find a good setting that works for me. Any suggestions?

gonna take a couple hours off, its matching me with only s+ players so the matches are way harder than they should be, my mmr is probably really high because i skipped 2 ranks, gonna try to get another mode up instead

there are a couple s+1s also in here fuck me i wonder how high it goes

They just sent an email out to fill out a survey for the game. I think I mentioned locking out Salmon Run being a terrible idea in every text box they allowed.

The fact that I get disconnected from a match because of shitty servers and then get some bullshit message about how it seems suspicious that I disconnected makes me more angry than is probably rational.

Cool thanks! And a 24 hour shift too nice!

np and yeah i hope in the long run they either release the restrictions or just stick with the 24 hours runs, its the best option for all regions in the end if they are going to limit it

it looks like the times will vary along the time of the splatfest so i guess what happens after that will tell

So how hard is it to go from rank C, to B, to A in ranked battle?

I went from C- straight into B. I'll literally level 11 on regular and have access to league battles already. Do I lose rank over time and can lose the B rating, or how does the entire ranking system work?

Just wrecked the heck out of the opponents in Splat Zones with the brush, just got an average of 15 kill per match, almost no death, just camp and wait once you get the territory. Just nasty. Love this game, need a good quest to join and coordinate and talk strategy in-game.

Will the new Dualies be in the weapon store, or or is it granted after a certain level or what?

All weapons added via updates need to be purchased at the store. Also Sheldon won't sell them to you unless you're a certain level though but update weapons tend to need very low levels to unlock and if you reach level 30 you can buy anything.

Why does ink armor never do anything for me? Isn't it supposed to guard you against damage for a second?

It protects you from one hit, not temporary invulnerability. The Bubbler from Splatoon 1 gave invulnerability.

One of the goals the producers had for Splatoon 2 was to have no invulnerability in the specials, which is why Bubbler and Krakken were dropped. All specials have the risk of getting killed if used poorly.

i skipped from c- to B and then from A to S and i honestly dont know what causes it

i went undefeated in those ranks but it seems as though other people have also gone undefeated and not skipped

they say it has to do with overall mmr, if your mmr is high then you skip when leveling up, like if you are seeing b+ players in your c+ games etc.

which happened to me, i played really well early on which i guess skyrocketed my mmr from the start, if the mmr in this game works like league or anything along those lines then the amount of wins you need to overcome a loss is pretty large

P/S nice avatar those were the days for me

Just tried the Split Joycon thing instead of the Pro Controller. I can see it could be better after a while but man... I feel kind of bad for my teammates right now. I really really suck at this atm. (ofc just Turf War, for Practicing).

The only thing I don't like is the distance between the stick and shoot Button. It's not really comfortable to shoot and spin with the stick. I have small hands, maybe it's because of that.

the player who performed best for their team has their name on the top of the results screen, right?

In ranked, it's whoever has the highest MMR, regardless of their performance in that match. Their MMR isn't surfaced but calculated behind the scenes. In turf war, it's whoever spread most ink.

OK I didn't mind it at first but the map update bullshit is starting to annoy me. It's completely unnecessary, or at the very least should be skippable. If I want to see what the maps are, I can do so by literally just going to the lobby... it shows the maps. Instead we get a ~2 minute unskippable scene. I could be in a match already. ngfhdhgdf

What servers? Isnt this game p2p and hosted by one of the players of the match?

i wonder what causes my controller to stop working randomly, like my motion controls turn off and my reticle kinda just sways to the left for a good 4 seconds randomly

Yup, loving what I played, but it's decisions like this that don't make any sense to me. Why can't I change my equipment between rounds without backing out?

Tower Control on small ass maps like starfish and inkblot is basically time for me to quit playing.

Even after the slosher nerf its fucking ridiculous. Combine that with a small map and having to go near the tower.

some of the best league teams are 4 tri sloshers in TC lol

It gives you "one hit" of invincibility. Like you could get smashed by a roller and not take any damage. But if they turn around and smash you again, you're dead.

It also gives this protection to your entire team regardless of where they are on the map. That's what makes it powerful. Try to save its use for when all 4 teammates are alive for maximum benefit.

Just picked this up.

Didn't play 1.

Know use Motion Controls.

Any other newb tips?

TY

Off the top of my head... the usual stuff is probably:

Walls don't count toward score. Inking walls is for traversal or for halting enemies climbing walls.

Don't bother inking thoroughly. Shoot straight (not down) to cover more ground faster.

The last 30-40 seconds of turf war are what truly counts. If you can, save your specials for that critical moment to keep the advantage.

Super jump only when it's necessary. It can reveal the position of your teammate if they are hiding, and can leave you vulnerable to instant death if your teammate decides not to cover for you.

People can see you swimming through ink if you go too fast. You can negate this with either ninja squid (clothing ability) or just moving really slow/tapping movement.

Maintaining turf is still important in ranked.

There's a roughly three-second delay between firing it off and it actually activating. As such, you can't use it as a panic button. I typically use it offensively rather than defensively because of that.

Interesting, I must have mistimed it when using it to shield against a bomb. Oh well, I'll keep trying at it.

It temporarily boosts your and your teammates (i think) health higher than normal. You aren't invincible but it will take more to kill you.

It takes a second to activate. It's a 30 health shield but it'll absorb any single amount of damage. So a roller flick will destroy the shield but even though it's say a 100 damage attack it won't damage you for 70.

I see a lot of high level players wearing gear that's less than 4 slots. Is this common? Do some players just care about the fashion?

people level up gear for scrubbing or adding slots to, sometimes also having doubled up perfect roll 2 slot is better than meh 3 slot

mostly a combination of the two, the gear is good and they will add a slot to it soon
