Fuck Salmon Run is hard today. The supplied weapons are pretty difficult to use in this mode.

Yeah like a lot of people were complaining about the Inkbrush being in the last rotation beforehand, but that ended up being a useful weapon just for zipping around and collecting eggs. These though are pretty hard to work with, especially in certain events like the grillers.

The weapons are better but the Spawning Grounds map is much harder due to the enemies being able to attack you from every direction at once.

I actually think it's the other way round - you have more escape paths in Spawning Grounds. I consistently do better at it.

The Blaster is always ass, but removing its one redeeming quality (damage) makes this one useless. Doesn't even ink as well as the normal one even with the improved firerate. =/

The boat map - even at high tide - has one direction the enemies can come from. You've always got the area near the ship basket that they can't just walk in behind you. Its small at high tide but there's basically a circuit you can make and still be relatively safe.

The spawning grounds has spawn points on every side even at high tide and though there is still a circuit, half the map is a long grating bridge that you can easily fall through or get knocked off.

It just gets muddled much more quickly. (Maws's's's favourite time to show up) The other map may just be my jam. (I kinda like having a roller or octobrush in the weapon roulette too)

just had a Salmon Run match where I was the only one trying to make sure the area around the container was clear and safe...with a sniper rifle

seriously randoms...what the f--- is wrong with you?

Ill echo the other comments right now, Salmon Run is pretty damn tough right now but it makes victory that much sweeter.

Round 2 of 3 all of my teammates were down with like 15 seconds to go and I was able to Splashdown and revive them all surrounded by enemies and then I died but we finished it and we were able to beat round 3 as well. So sweet.

I hate the damn sniper but I am getting better with it.

Happy Monday! Just a friendly reminder that Marie is a cannibal and can't be trusted (Also her umbrella is probably a gun too)

Has anyone with a t-mobile phone had a chance to play some rounds while connected to a mobile hotspot? I was at this tiny little New England clamshack yesterday and managed to get a few rounds in before my order came. It worked so dang well.

edit - I just wish 4g service was a little more consistent on the MBTA, because atm it can't be trusted to get me through an entire match :/

Got another two friends to pick up the game yesterday, we had a blast in local salmon run. My home connection still doesn't like letting several of us in an online turf war game together, and if by some miracle we can manage to join on each other it takes a long ass time to find more people. Worked fine when we tried to play later after everyone left to go home. Wish I had an idea as to what I could do to fix it though, would be awesome to have everyone over to play online instead of us just staying home cause it works.

Someone should make a thread about the Twilight Zone stage just announced by Nintendo as a Splatfest exclusive stage. It will apparently change layout depending on the mode too. I just saw it on GoNintendo. I'd do it but I'm about to sleep.

I think the blaster is the only actually bad weapon in this Salmon Run, the tri-slosher and splatterscope can be difficult to use but very effective in the right hands.

Land mines are by far the worst sub weapon right? Even if someone purposefully runs through 2 in a row they wont kill. They already sucked in splatoon 1, now they are even worse.

I am so pissed at my team. I went from barely hanging on to Overreacher down all the way to 40 Go-Getter because this idiot on my team wouldn't put the last egg in the basket.

[in a loud voice] The Tri-Slosher ain't that good. Heck, if anything it needs a buff! Maybe change the sub to suction bombs?

[quietly but forcefully] All a yous complainers shut it!!

I kind of like the random surprises. The last two salmon runs had bosses I hadn't seen before. One was just
massive amounts of easy eggs and enemies that we easily cleared and got a lot of points
. The other looked like a
floating hamburger that started out easy, but they spawned pretty quickly
. Hadn't seen either of those before.

The splatterscope's only really good against certain bosses, like SteelHeads and Mothership rounds. When it's high tide or a firefly round it's nothing but a liability though. The blaster at least puts out decent damage quickly.

Tri-Slosher is basically busted this run though. Holy shit.

What if the final Splatfest isn't Pearl vs Marina, but is instead Squid Sisters vs Off the Hook?

Probably yeah, but i hope if Off the Hook wins the Squid Sisters are not canned from story mode or a appearance in the next game... That would be lame as hell they are kinda mainstay characters now kinda like how Zelda, Luigi, Peach etc always appear too they are the originals afterall....

The Marie vs Callie Splatfest was probably used for who was the missin sister in Splatoon 2's story mode. So that's why i have my worries.

It leaves too many spaces compared to the Aerospray and it depletes a lot quicker too.

I worry they'll nerf the Aerospray in time because it's so OP.

The aerospray won't get nerfed and it really isn't very powerful at all.

It's the same as in splatoon 1, practically the definition of a newbie friendly weapon but as soon as you're paired with people used to its range, you're basically buggered. Once things even out, it'll be virtually nonexistent in high ranks in ranked mode at least.

It'll probably always show up in turf war because of apparently minimal match making, but still. I'm quite glad when I see any aerospray variations on the other team. Doubly so if it's a particularly vertical map

Can't seem the win when it's high tides.

High tides is extremely punishing if you're not coordinated with your team aka when playing solo.
This salmon run is extra painful for me, especially the wave that tries to steal the eggs, can't deal with that bs lol.

I don't think the Splatfest actually had any impact on that.

Based on the music, it seems like they planned for Callie and Octavio to be working together before that Splatfest even happened, that Splatfest was only a year ago after all. A DJ Octavio version of Tide Goes Out by itself would be pretty fun though.

So what are the odds we get another weapon this Friday? I feel like the splatfest being this weekend may mean we don't get a usual friday update.

Callie and Marie both got solo songs towards the end. If the splatfests had gone the other way, it would presumably have been the other solo song, Bomb Rush Blush instead.

I'm on T-Mobile and this was my exact hope. Kinda excited for the game to arrive so I can find a secluded bench somewhere, pop in a podcast, and play some rounds. Hopefully it works as well for me.

Squids are cannibals by natrure.

Also Crusty Sean is a lobster than sells lobster burger and hotdogs.... so.....

They are tasty :P

RULES OF NATURE!

Goddamn the attention to detail in this game, I love it.

That's sort of what I mean,
I don't think it would've worked that way. The style of songs is too different. Callie's song always felt like song more like a battle song than Marie's. Then again, the second phase of that battle would've been the same song with a different intro. So maybe they did plan for both options.
