drizzler missiles also are a bit too short imho and very difficult to see, esp on the handheld screen

also the fucking things don't auto-blast back towards the drizzler? you have to aim them back! utter shite because positioning is near-impossible while you're getting swarmed.

Drizzlers are more fair than Flyfish because you can at least shoot the rain generators out of the sky if you're on point. Flyfish are total bullshit. They're one of the only bosses that a single player can't kill before they get an attack off or in a reasonable amount of time, and because they require bombs you can't be shooting other smaller salmon that inevitably run up to harass you while you're waiting for it to open up.

Seriously, when I had the .96 Gal last night, I was basically useless against any of the Flyfish because each normal shoot takes so much ink that trying to fight off normal salmon meant no ink for bombs. Flyfish take at least two people to fight, which most of the other bosses don't really require.

This is the kind of stuff I refer to when talking about high resource-cost to kill compared to other bosses. Steelheads are impervious to a lot too, but on a run you'll likely have at least two weapons in your arsenal that can fairly quickly solo him to death just with their main weapon. Same with the Stinger, once you fight your way up to reaching him. Drizzlers and Flyfish can technically be killed quickly as well, but that requires a lot more of the players to actually do it. You need to be in just the right place at just the right time, or else you're suddenly scrambling and losing a ton of ground, and have to wait a long time to get your next chance to attack.

Fly Fish opens it's missile launchers. Two grenades sail right into each bucket. Dies immediately. Such a once in a lifetime experience

The problem is even when that happens, the Flyfish still gets to fire off a couple of missiles. It'd be way better if there was more of a delay between opening up and the missile launch.

oh god

Is there any kind of petition anywhere etc. where we can band together and tell Nintendo how stupid it is to have Salmon Run on a timer. Still havent had a chance to play it and i would if it was open when id get on.

Also add MP map rotation to the list. That shit needs to go too.

I think the irritating thing about the Flyfish is that like the Tenta Missiles, I'm not entirely sure how the tracking circles work on the missiles. Like the circle on you stops moving, but even when you get off it the missile still tracks you. So it's basically move until you see the missile hit, not when the circle stops following you. Not sure if that's intentional or lag tbh.

I'm glad that someone took this feud to its natural conclusion lol

I really like the Brush weapon and hope we get at least two more variants.

A brush that has more range and movement speed.

And one that deflects ink from swinging it.

I gotta say, I thought Tenta Missiles were useless when I first started playing but they're incredible for applying pressure. I don't use any weapons that have 'em but got damn.

they put normies on the correct side at least.

They also reveal anyone trying to stealth on top of that. It's incredibly versatile, and handy when you've got an inkbrush squinja that you need to put in their place.

Love the Splatfest art they do for each of these (Hopefully Japan's theme isn't different from the rest of the world's too much so the art applies to our splatfest as well.)

Just noticed the dualie mayo bottles, Pearl you animal lol

Yep. You can also just swim to a relatively safe space and throw them out quickly then get back to your main tasks in ranked modes.

It's the same theme, at least this time. The matchmaking for Splatfest is just regionalised so that most major regions will be forced to play amongst themselves.

It is also super gratifying to find someone who didn't do this and splat them in the middle of launching. :)

One egg away from getting back to the top. Good job running away to the other side of the map before we met our quota, last surviving dude. That really helped us out.

Yeah, throughout the first game Japan usually had a different theme though. And because they only do art for Japan, a lot of US and Europe Splatfests missed out on cool art.

I think the only one US/Europe got that didn't come out in Japan was Pokemon Red/Blue (Japan had Red/Green obviously)

The only time I really feel pressured by Tenta Missiles is when multiple people on the other team use them one after the other, and that's more annoying than anything else. They're probably not more effective because I'm not playing objective based ranked modes, and I can imagine missile after missile being a huge pain in the ass.

I still prefer the Rain Cloud for making people move out of the way, but I can certainly see the appeal of the missiles.

I'm gonna attempt to play online with a friend for the first time tonight. What is the easiest way to do this? Should I tell him to download the Switch app? Am I supposed to go to the Shoal or whatever?

And here people were trying to claim that you can't drizzle mayo...

Meanwhile my search for a main weapon/class continues. Everything feels just a little bit "off" for some reason or another. SplatterPro and Carbon Roller are probably my best so far but...eh. I still wish the Just Blaster was better I guess. Maybe I'll use the Splatfest as my testing ground for some of this, depending on the rest of my team comp.

Just one of you join a turf war and the other pick join friends. Won't guarantee you're on the same team but that seems to be the only way outside of league

If you just want Turf War with randoms, one of you joins like normal, then the other goes to Join Friends and chooses the other person. The first person will probably have to play a match alone before the second can join, and you won't always be on the same team.

Shoal is for local play.

Thanks! Glad to hear it's that easy. Weird that we won't end up on the same team though...

Edit: And thanks BooJah for further clarification.

Well if it put you on the same team with friends at all times then you'd have organized premades (often using voice chat) dominating random groups.

I think they're designed to be taken down by at least 2 players and encourage teamwork. But I wish you could at least see your friend's bomb aiming trajectory so you all don't shoot into the same launcher :(

Salmon Run and League Battle will have you guys always on the same team. Not sure if you need to find 2 other friends to play with or if you can duo into a group though.

The worst things in Salmon Rush is taking care of some annoying boss singlehandedly and then turning around and effectively doing this:

...Into the jaws of a Steel Eel.
Daily Routine

1. Boot up Splatoon 2

2. Report all furry posts in plaza

3. Begin playing

I'm a big fan of "furry" artwork but seriously though, they don't even make them Squid themed ffs.
I come to Sploon for Squids and/or Octopi.

.....do people put mayo on eggs and toast? that sounds disgusting

D'you know how many types of mayonnaise there are?

Everyone says this, but I've never seen this be the case in other games. I've played with randoms against stacks in Dota and Overwatch and still won plenty of times, because generally speaking they're still pairing similarly skilled players against one another, even in unranked modes.

Why Nintendo can't do the same for Splatoon, I have no idea.

The thing is, if you're going to put in a boss which requires more people to kill than normal, you need to make it so it doesn't show up as much as other bosses. Otherwise you end up with bullshit like 3 Fly Fish at once.

Scrappers also require some decent teamwork and coordination to take out, but they have to come to you before they can pose any sort of threat and they have no long distance attack of any kind that can simultaneously threaten you and claim large amounts of turf.

If a Scrapper or Steelhead or Steel Eel or something spawns in a quiet corner of the map, it's not really a big deal. If a Flyfish shows up there instead, hell breaks loose.

Anything more than one flyfish on high tide and it's pretty much impossible.

are they invincible to inkzooker missiles?

flyfish suck ass.
If you mean inkjet or cannon missiles, then no, but you still have to aim into the bins when they open.

At the very least you should be able to kill Fly Fish with every special.
... Now that I think about this, I think only Splashdown can't? Stingray can hit the pilot, Bomb Launcher gives you infinite bombs to throw into the bins, and Inkjet shots can hit open bins.

Is thermal ink only a primary ability? I finally found someone wearing it but that shirt is so not fresh :/
Yup, Thermal Ink is a shirt exclusive main only ability.

I'd add Stinger to the list of things that can spawn way off in the distance and cause chaos, but at least it's piss easy to kill them once you work your way up to one. Even with a slow to fire weapon like a roller.

Multiple Stingers though, on opposing sides? Man, that's fucking tough to deal with.

A big problem with ranged attacking boss salmonid (Stinger, Flyfish, Drizzler, etc) is that you can't bait them to getting close to the net for easy egg recovery. With stuff like Maws and Scrappers, you can easily just lead them up to the net, kill them, and get all of the eggs no problem.
