polarized blocks out 50% of light. The eclipse glasses block out 99.5%.

Literally only thing you should be able to see through eclipse glasses is the disc of the sun.

Look over it over your shoulder. So turn your back to the eclipse, turn on the front forward camera and look at the phone screen as you get the eclipse on camera.

It could damage the sensor. Also Your phone just isn't up to getting a good picture of this. You would be better off watching a youtube video taken with proper equipment.

You should only be able to see the sun through them, and there shouldn’t be any visible bleed or glare. If you see anything more than a yellowish-orange disc, then they’re not good enough.
