No More Heroes: Travis Strikes Again revealed (Switch, UE4)

Ill wait until I see gameplay to judge what it is. I hope its very similar to No More Heroes 1 & 2 both just needed more polish and time. But for a game with less than a year of development many things can change and many shortcuts can be taken to hit a release date.

What are you talking about? We first heard about it in January, meaning it's been in development since sometime before that and it's coming out at an undisclosed time next year, meaning it will be at over a year of development. Using UE4 saves them any engine related time aside from ramp up and getting familiar with it, which shouldn't be hard as Grasshopper has developed UE3 games before

GET OUT. Bet you thought the PS3/360 "port" was the definitive version too.
Plus the joycons have motion. Nothing it stopping the game from allowing them if you've playing split mode

No, I imported the US version of NMH on Wii cause I wanted the uncensored version but it was a constant hassle dealing with the original Wii's crappy motion control.

Jeez, I don't care if you enjoy motion controls. I was just expressing my excitement to play it on a normal controller. No need to be an elitist jerk about it.

Nice, NMH with no motion controls will be great.

Nah, No More Heroes is one of those games that feels right doing the finisher and wrestling moves with motion controls.

It's like Wreck It Ralph but with Murder.

That needs to be the tagline for the game.

Even though Suda said that Travis' story ended in No More Heroes 2, Travis Strikes Back takes place 4 years after that. Guess his story still continues then.

The video said after No More Heroes, which I took to assume after the first game and this game is set in between 1 and 2.

I hope Sir Henry Motherfucker returns as well.

Still, looking at the pic, can't really see who the girl is. It looks like Bad Girl... but we never got much of backstory about her didn't we? The game would start just like NMH2, which is a cool thing.

Trying to pull up memory of Bad Girl back story but if I remember correctly;

-She was a psycho as she felt no remorse over killing people,
-Was unhinged during the fight as she would cry for real or fake it so she could launched her instance kill attack...which was brutal,
-Was located at Santa Destroy Baseball stadium.

Her and Jeanne were some of the best Assassin fight ever and I am glad that No More Heroes left them both at the end of the game.

They said they were just starting development when they announced the game. Like in the concept phase.

Yea I'm worried about that release date. GHM has a record with this stuff.

What other way can it be construed? "Just like the original" is pretty unambiguous. If they were all minigames, they wouldn't be called "levels" either

Yeah. If NMH2 is anything to go by, there'll be minigames, this time based on the original games, but the main gameplay will most likely the same as usual

It could just be referring to the general notion that Travis has to fight through different levels and beat enemy bosses.

I'm going to assume though it's what everybody is expecting because it's easier on my sanity.

Why would they even bother to state that if that's the case? It's an level action video game with usual action video game trappings .

It's like going "this is a shooter in which you go around shoot enemy combatants". No shit.

From PR:
Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes from Suda51 and Grasshopper Manufacture: Seven years have passed since the events of No More Heroes, and The Bad is determined to exact his revenge on Travis Touchdown. Just like the original cult classic, players will have to battle through multiple punk-rock levels and defeat over-the-top bosses. Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes launches exclusively for Nintendo Switch in 2018. More details about the game will be revealed in the future.

Doesn't sound like mini games to me

Sweet. Hyped restored.

I see they have No More Heroes 10th anniversary logo

The 10th anniversary is Dec 2017 in Japan and Jan 2018 in NA

Would be nice to get NMH 1-2 collection early next year and Travis Strikes Again later in the year

Suda's directing, so that's hype. Not really a fan of the change in voice, though. I really hope this plays like NMH just inside of indie levels and not the other way around.

Actually, Travis would be 34 if this game is set seven years after NMH1.

The comment I was replying to you suggested it was 7 years after NMH2 and that the game was having the same amount of time pass in the game world happen in the real world.

See the two years separating the Mass Effect 2 and Splatoon 2 stories from the first games.

The trailer said seven years after the first game, which is 4 years after the second game.

Though this is better as Travis shouldn't be too old.

Who's excited for 25 year-old Shinobu?

I have no idea what the fuck is happening and I love it.
Everything about this game is Suda51!
From the initial Switch reveal talk to this trailer to the utter confusion of wtf is happening with the game.
It's Killer7 all over again!

DOWNWARD FUCKING DOG
Amen.

We're going to wear that tee and jacket, aren't we?

Robin Atkins was the original I believe, I don't get why he wouldn't reprise the role. He's active, and he hasn't blown up to big to be to good for it.
I think he has actually. Wasnt he thanos or somethings voice in the avengers movie?

Edit: no wait, wait he was that phone voice in suicide squad

Do you think
Jeane
from the post-credits of the first game may factor in?

I've always thought of her as
Henry's daughter as Sylvia looked the same age in that scene.

Technically any daughter
of Henry is also Travis' daughter because they are identical twins. It would be interesting if Bad Girl's dad
goes after her because of this. Would be a good reason to involve
Sylvia and Henry
.

Ah, I see. Thanks for the clarification, was confused earlier.

Um.... so... for those of us outside the loop, what is No More Heroes in general and why is it good?

You jerk the wiimote off to charge up and do suplexes on bosses and theres a parking lot level in the 2nd game that goes on for 30 literal minutes of fighting enemies then you fight a gothic Lolita sniper with a really good song.

you also save by taking a shit and its about sexual immaturity
