Welp, that explains why the track was so freaking wide. This’ll be fun!

Is this the biggest dumpster fire reveal of a new system or what? Now we're seeing new games for it too alongside the unannounced system? How in the world did Nintendo drop the ball so much on this reveal?
And it will cost $70.this looks exactly like MK8
The magic of lowered expectationsYep, looks like shit, Thanks Nintendo
Day one
it's that way with every game franchise.I own Mario Kart 8, and I still wonder how people enjoy this franchise. Sure, having a few races with a kid is fun, but being obsessed with the series? The fact that all the games in the series are basically the same makes it even more dramatic.
MK 8 is their biggest selling game recently. Why wouldn’t they show it first? Mario Kart is going to look like Mario Kart.Nintendo choosing to have this as the first Switch game shown doesn't bode well. If this is the most exciting game they'll have at release I think it'll be easy to wait until next year before I buy it.
I'm not saying I expected anything like this:
But I did want to see something that'd give me that feeling.
it seems to go for scale this time.
the track in the video looks kinda massive, and the starting lines suggest 24 players/racers per race are a possibility.

Yep -- and Nintendo never shows their hand in a first trailer. Mario Odyssey's full debut trailer didn't even show the capture mechanic, literally the main hook of the game. We didn't know we were building stuff with Ultrahand in TOTK until like a few months before release.
Still time for that. The messaging was around the system not the games. They announced the April direct. Now if that happens and people are saying there isn’t a notable improvement then there are issues.Because it wasn't impressive and some even thought it was just MK8. If Nintendo really wanted to hit home on people understanding it's a new more powerful console then it was a weird choice.
Lol... oh nintendo...
MK9 vs MK8D based on youtube screen capture.I’m not seeing any graphical difference of this vs Switch OG. Am I missing something?
Mario’s face looks weird af on MK9. Like the lighting is super flatMK9 vs MK8D based on youtube screen capture.

For Nintendo, they just arrived in 2017A lot more geometry on Mario’s model there
This reveal trailer needed to be in 4K, it’s not 2017 anymore.

Ooh, that’d be fun!my bet is the new thing here will be team based races like Team Sonic Racing.
with the increased player count you could have 6 4player teams.
the wider tracks would also allow for more aggressive gameplay with weapons/items.
This isn't a gen leap. I'm getting worried.MK9 vs MK8D based on youtube screen capture.

it should be in beta stage yet, probably (and I hope) the final version will look better and differentAnyone else thinking it's just CGI? There's no HUD, no map, nothing, I'm guessing it's not even gameplay.
Unfortunately, it’s not gonna be a technicality. It’s gonna be all about perception. if it’s not like a dramatic improvement that is clearly better in every imaginable way, people are just gonna dump on it.you can easily see the difference even with the shitty quality.
The power is there, this game just might be actually crossgen. No DLSS or temporal antialiasing whatsoever, that's Switch 1 signature. This isn't a gen leap. I'm getting worried.
Would make sense to have something in the pipeline given they’re pushing DK big with the expansion at Nintendo World. Wouldn’t surprise me if they’ve got a semi-big new game on the way and are planing a DK movie.I wonder if DK’s dramatic redesign has something to do with a new DK game coming out. It would make sense, they’ve been pushing DK hard ever since the movie.
Mario kart? If Nintendo wants to sell switch 2s, that game will not be cross-gen, not if it’s a launch window title. Which I assume it is.The power is there, this game just might be actually crossgen. No DLSS or temporal antialiasing whatsoever, that's Switch 1 signature.
