So I found out FF6 was on steam and wanted to see how it compares. My god that mobile art is hideous.
I wonder if future remakes will use that mobile style or if Octopath is the new direction.

God I hope it's the Octopath route, but I bet they'll still do the horrible mobile look
So have any walmart 8/22 orders shipped yet? Mine still says arriving Oct 6 and preparing. Charge just fell off today after being held for a week.

Are we allowed to whine about how we're still mad at Amazon for failing to communicate ANYTHING about the now very overdue preorders which they still haven't addressed with even an email?
Started playing a Link to the Past last night. It's my first fully committed to Zelda game and it's so fun! I'm not even progressing in the story. I'm just going around, exploring, trying to find stuff. It's great! Can't wait to keep playing when I get home.

Just as God (Miyamoto) intended. Having played the game to death as a kid, it's really hard to get back into that mindset when I play it. I 'know' where everything I need is so it's tough to turn that off just to go exploring randomly.
I'm tempted when the system hacks get released to put a randomized version on. That really brings that feeling back.

Why the fuck does the usb cable say to unplug the system when not in use? That's kind of annoying.

Pretty hype for another playthrough since it is one of my all time favorite games (my only video game tattoo is the party walking down my forearm with Ness holding up the peace sign from when their picture is taken).

Please follow these steps to sync the controller:
1. Insert the receiver dongle into the SNES Classic console USB port.
2. LED light on receiver will blink red.
3. Press and hold the "Start" button on the controller for 3 seconds.
4. LED on receiver will stop blinking.
5. Controller sync is complete.
even though this was noticeably absent from the included instructions, I still feel kinda dumb. it's been working great now.
kinda regret getting mine tbh. Its not even that the games dont hold up, they do, I just...dont want to play them?
Like, I did the first pendant dungeon in Zelda, played about an hour and half of Metroid, did the first 50cc cup in Mario Kart, and the novelty wore off fast. Dunno, I wont unplug it or anything, maybe ill get an itch for those games. I guess if nothing else its a easy way to access them whenever I want, should I want to.
Controllers are neat at least.
that certainly doesnt help. Like I bought it, knowing full well 3 days later I would be wanting to play Battle Chasers for example.
I had almost instant regret when I bought mine. i could have played these games any time i wanted in the past decade and never chose to do it once. buying this doesn't particularly make me want to play them any more. I just wanted to recapture a moment of my childhood by buying this I guess
Is there a snowball's chance in hell that I can find one of these before Christmas?
*Hello darkness, my old friend...*
That's a fantastic tattoo idea! Pics?
How do you post pictures on gaf?Hmm, wasn't posting for some reason. Let's try this a third time (hoping the other two attempts aren't just not displaying for me.
They probably were, at least the guys who worked on the emulator.Yo, gzipped ROMs apparently work. It's almost like they were thinking of us.

Started Castlevania IV tonight. I realized I had never played Castlevania IV before. I've been really let down by the soundtrack. ;(
The heck kind of expectations did you set that you were disappointed? CV4 is amongst the best music in the series. Second probably only to CV3 JPN version. It's obviously slightly dated, the samples are SNES quality, but the composition itself is god tier.
Thats pretty big news no? I mean you COULD run zipped roms through retroArch, but I prefer to keep the system as pure as possible and add some remaining classics I own.
So this has been hacked already?Pleased as punch I got this down, this game being missing was a crime.

Can you gzip the official built-in ROMs to save even more space for additional ones?Yep, it's great. I just added Chrono Trigger which is usually 4mb, but gzip made it 2.5mb.
Marginally. The software to do it the hard way is available. You've got to patch in headers/footers for all of your ROMs and handle the file management for descriptions and box art manually. If you're at all worried, give it another week or two and the dummy-proof, automatic tools will be released.So this has been hacked already?

To whomever releases this pack..
Let me give you a few bits of info:
- I emulate a U.S. Genesis, including territory lock-out.
- ".sga" files are standard Genesis/Megadrive ".bin" files renamed.
- The emulator is looking for some parameters to be passed via Ginsu.
If you don't know what that is, you'll figure it out:
MDE_US.BIN ALTBEAST.SGA MODE2 SKIP0 SOUND0
MODE0 = standard, fastest video mode settings
MODE1 = slower, supports some extra features
MODE2 = slowest, includes window layers (used by some games)
MODE4 = same as MODE0 with background skewing
SKIP0 = no sprite skipping until maximum reached
SKIP1 = moderate sprite skipping, used to prevent major slowdown
SKIP2 = maximum sprites skipped
SOUND0 = standard sound emulation
SOUND1 = sound tempo increased
And don't forget to pay your respects to Uncle Sonic.
Sony just doesn't get it.

Yes, with the caveat that you have to do a lot of things manually right now and it's seen as "a bit dangerous". The program to do it all automatically won't be far away, honestly.
Marginally. The software to do it the hard way is functional. If you're at all worried, give it another week or two and the dummy-proof, automatic tools will be finished.
