A few years ago my boss (Who was responsible for one of the biggest franchisees in gaming and lived in an "Uncle Phil" mansion) decided one morning he's quite like to by a one of the new model Porsches. So he drives over to the dealership and asks for a test drive. They refused because "it didnt look like it would be in his price bracket". Just because he didn't look rich due to his old rocker aesthetic of worn jeans and T-shirt and general laid back attitude. He was white, in America.

There's nothing in that story to indicate Opra was refused service because she was black, only the narrative of the writer.

It really comes down to how you're dressed. If she was dressed nicely, then I could see the suspicion, but if she was in casual wear and all on her own, it wouldn't matter what ethnicity she were, no high-end retail employee is showing a $38,000 bag to a person they don't recognize and didn't make any kind of appointment or make themselves and their wealth known in advance.

She doesnt have to identify herself ir add any context. You are CHOSING to inject racism into her comment. She, as a woman, felt that the mans comment was offensive. Maybe she felt it was racially motivated. We dont know, no one asked, because she was banned arbitrarily and never even given a chance to elaborate.
