Just by curiosity... is anybody interested in some games on Steam, but don't purchase them because expect them to be free on Epic Store some time in the future?

I buy games that have been free on EGS.

Welp, I have access to everything on my wish list (except for some random old Paradox games ) from Epic giveaways or Gamepass.

Fuck no lol.

Honestly the money factor isn't an issue to me. That's not to say I'm loaded (far from it) but the issue of time weighs far heavier in my purchases hehe. There just aren't enough hours in the day to play all these games! Getting even more games on a different platform provides zero incentive for me. So yeah the only reason I currently have EGS installed is because of the Rogue Company beta. I hope it some day makes it way to Steam (probably not, their loss) but otherwise I see no reason to ever bother with EGS. "But it's just another launcher!" -Exactly, one that doesn't even offer half the functionality that Steam does. So... hope this doesn't turn into an EGS vs Steam thread but that's my answer for ya!

Ya I noticed the sales seemed a bit better this time. Prices SEEM a bit lower. Could be my imagination.

Also for anyone who hasnt played Doom Eternal, get it, that is a great game especially at 30 bucks.

Nah. I don't work that way honestly

Not going to be under the mercy of anyone

Picked up Monster Train. I know see all the hype behind it.

Love how the name of the game is literally the game. Monsters on a train.

Here's what I went for. I have a wishlist longer than my arm but I didn't feel compelled to spend much with next-gen around the corner. There's a bunch of stuff coming later in the year that I want more. Taking a chance on Resident Evil 7 as I don't really know much about it except that it got good reviews. I've already played Journey tonight. Looks beautiful in 4K!

Am I the only one who can't purchase anything in the points store? Nothing happens when I click stuff. Already tried clearing the cache/cookies in the client.

Eh i wanted RDR2 but not at that price. Can anyone recommend any quality indie's like hollow knight or Ori? Def not Dead Cells though, i feel that would get repetitive quick.

Or:

Or:

Fair warning, dark devotion has roguelite elements so your milage may vary.

Minoria is also sensational but its a bit on the shorter side:

Men I just get overwhelmed by choice and a raft of apparently good Indies that I've never heard of. Interested in doom eternal and Sekiro at around the £30 mark but I don't like paying that for a game I'm not ready to play yet. I'm not much of a backlog guy but maybe I should get them. I dunno.

Any good RTS or civ like games on sale? Looking for recommendations.

Decisions decisions. 200 games on the wishlist. Assault android cactus plus is the only game I've picked up so far. I'm quite glad flash sales are gone. I ain't got time for that.

gonna scrub my lists and post some recs in a bit, there's a lot of good shit on the store

nice to see steam threads again, we need another dedicated thread

Fuck Quake Champions, the gameplay is great, but its such a rubberbanding laggy mess that i rage everytime i play, the netcode is utter ASS!!!! You get 1/15 smooth matches, when its smooth its fun af its just not worth it as things stand.
Wish epic didnt shut down unreal, at least the netcode was good

quake live is better but it's pretty much dead

most arena shooters are dead, so goes the industry

How do y'all even know what these games are like? How do you learn about them? Seriously, like podcasts or a certain YouTube channel or something? So many indie games I have no idea about.

You can just search the indie tag on steam and look around. best indie games & get indie games on youtube are 2 of the biggest channels which preview indie games weekly. you could also check out channels like gmanlives or worthabuy & follow indie curators on steam.

A lot of the games I've played came purely from recommendations in threads on NeoGAF and ResetERA. Usually there's always a "under the radar" thread for Steam sales, on top of the general thread. Communities all over the internet offer recommendation topics.

Also, once you've played enough on Steam, you get recommendations in the "similar to" section. It's pretty easy to find a bunch of worthwhile titles within a particular genre.

If you like a game you can also check what Steam Curators have to say about that game. If you find like-minded players you can easily narrow down the options.

Humble Bundle was a godsend as well. Getting a bunch of games for $5 and just trying them out was a great way to expose myself. Found some real gems, and learned about developers/publishers that I could rely on for compelling content. Throwing money at Humble is what led me to Devolver Digital.

For years I played games on a 2012 laptop so I generally HAD to stay within the indie space to continue playing games smoothly. Found a bunch of stuff by sticking to that limitation.

Picked up The Golf Club 2019 featuring PGA Tour last night for $7.49 (reg. $49.99)

Holy crap was that some well-spent money. Been playing it non-stop ever since. I reckon I'll get tens if not hundreds of hours out of this for the cost of a burger & fries.

Highly recommended if you like golf games. 👍

Browsing the store based on tags (sorted by top selling) and then reading reviews/watching videos for games that look interesting.

If you know what genres you prefer (or if you know what kind of game you're in the mood to play) then it's a lot easier.

Is Doom far better on PC than console?

Yes, infinitely.

Kb/M + high refresh rate = bliss

That's what I thought....I'm still on GTX 970, which they say to put textures on medium.
First world problems. Maybe i'll wait to pick it up when the next line of GPUs release and I build a new PC.

Cleaned out some of the cheaper stuff on my wishlist. Looking forward to Demon's Tilt and Touhou Blooming Chaos 2, the rest are mostly crapshoots that I found while browsing upcoming games.
Red's Kingdom may be the most promising one.
