XBOX SERIES X/S | LAUNCH OT | THE X-FACTOR

Ok i gotta say i LOVE THIS SYSTEM so far... except for the 1TB hard drive limitation. I knew this was going to be an issue. I currently have eight games loaded that i saw were previewed as enhanced and had around 220gb still free. Then i realized i had to click into EACH game to trigger the optimization downloads. Anywhere from 20 to 70GB each extra. Dammit. I have Destiny 2 loaded and it doesn't even have the enhancements yet... i dont think i'm going to have enough space and i'm going to have to delete at least one :(
What? When you've downloaded the game on your HD you still need to press something to get it optimised?

Get an external drive. Store any non X/S optimized games on there. Store any X/S optimized games that you aren't playing on there, and transfer them to internal when you want to play them, it doesn't take long.

Only if you had the old version installed. I plugged my 2 externals with all my games on them into my SX, clicked on Forza Horizon 4 and it then asked if I wanted to upgrade to the SX version. When I did that it moved the whole thing to the internal drive and updated it to be the SX version.

If you go to the store and download a X/S optimised game it will download the X/S version.

No, if you have existing Xbox One games installed on your external drive it'll prompt you to download the Xbox Series X upgrade patch when you run it for the first time.

Sorry for the stupid question, but if I put Eneloops in the controller will it recharge via the USB or do I need to use an external charger?

This thing is a fucken space heater Holy shit. All I'm doing is downloading games and this thing is just generating so much heat anyone else having the same issue? I almost have to remove it from my entertainment unit.

Anyone having problems to download with the console turned off in Instant On mode?

I have left some games dowloading and was going to play something now, but to my unpleasantly surprise no progress happened while in this mode.

If you don't have a lot of space for it you may need a small usb fan to exhaust the heat out the back of the entertainment center. Mine has lots of space to ventilate so no issues and the back is almost fully open.

Yes I set mine to never off to download everything overnight.

What's with the mouse movement on this thing? I plugged a gaming mouse in just to see how it would handle, and there's sever input latency on mouse movement.

Question for you tech types out there.. I have an issue.

So I have a couple year old Denon Receiver AVR-3500 I think), it does NOT have HDMI 2.1. I also have a Samsung NU8000, which supports some of the 2.1 features, ALLM, VRR (to 48 or 60 I think) and maybe a couple others.

Problem..

If I connect my Series X to the TV directly, and use ARC for the audio to the receiver, I only get Dolby Digital, ATMOS and DTS:X do not work. I believe this is because the TV does not have "eARC"?

If I connect my Series X to the receiver, and the receiver to the TV, ATMOS and DTS:X work, but I do not get ALLM or VRR to work. This is because the receiver is not passing the "2.1" features through to the Xbox?

Is there a workaround? Sucks to have a bad ass box and only get half of the cool features at any one time.

Is fate telling me I need a 77" OLED?

Thanks for the heads up. I was pissing around with other stuff and never checked to make sure the games were upgraded after I moved them to internal.

Just tried to manually start each one now to trigger the upgrade.

Haven't had issues with heating at all so far and my media center is quite cramped, with about 6 consoles crammed in it (LOL)

It won't charge - you'll need the external one.

Question for next gen owners, hows tekken 7 now on the series S/X to those that have tried it.

Is it better with the raytracing?. Frame rates better?

anyone else getting sound distorting/crackling when going through menus in the UI? sound in games is fine seems to be only in the UI.

how do i fully power down the console to make it safe to unplug? do i really need to go away into the settings to "full shutdown" every time?

worked fine for me. i just downloaded watch dogs while i went to the shops. when i was setting it up i checked my router to see if it was still downloading and it was. must be a bug for some people.

If you play Modern Warfare it still loads from an external despite saying it's optimised, could save a lot of space on your internal.

Maybe someone could help? Not a major issue but my XSX doesn't show up in my Game Pass phone app, it's only showing my old One X. I've signed in and out of the app a few times but it's not picking it up. Anyone else seen this or can suggest a fix?

Apart from that I have only had time to quickly try Ori at 4K 120hz and yes, it is truly beautiful.

Have you tried renaming it and making your home console to maybe force it to show up in the system?

The best thing of Series X is not how quite the console is, but the noise the fan makes. It's not annoying at all. Just this deep sound of air flow.
The best console I ever owned in that regard. A huge step up from the One X, that got quite loud in a semi closed / open enclosure.

How does the Series S sound?
The fan is smaller and probably moving faster.

I haven't. Changing it to Home might affect my kids' xbox one which is at their Mom's house unfortunately so I'll will have to think before I do that!

The XSX is showing up ok in the Xbox App, I've renamed it in there to see if the Game Pass app might pick it up :)

Yup i have a 5TB external for 360/XO games and an 8TB for XBO games. I'm just friggin spoiled because i'm so used to huge amounts of space and now i gotta transfer stuff back and forth haha

Man this is one i've wanted REALLY badly to get enhanced for the 1X and the lame asses never did it. I don't understand why they are not bothering to enhance the game when the PS4 Pro got one. Very frustrating.

I was seeing the same issue. I found a post on Reddit that turning off the "When Xbox is off, turn off storage" option under "Power & Startup" will resolve it, but I haven't tested it yet.

Series S is the same, you have to put your ear right up to it to hear anything.

i wasn't expecting to have a series x this soon, but my buddy got 2 pre orders in and sold me one. hooked it all up last night

hardware seems excellent. and the controller is a small improvement on imo, the greatest controller ever made. the box definitely looks cool as well, i dig it

but damn, there is a visible gaping hole that says they expected Halo infinite to be ready for launch

My six year old loves Halo (we play MCC splitscreen every other day). So can you imagine his face when I came in with the new box.. and then my stupid face when I realized I had done a giant mistake and would have to try to explain him why he can't play it..

I am optimistic about Craig Simulator 2021.

The Halo MCC launch on One was worse than a delay. It was unplayable for months, crashed to the dashboard when loading levels for half a year, and the multiplayer matchmaking never worked well for longer than that.

The new game needs to be good.

I was able to squeeze in an order from the MS store at 12:01 on release night. The email said expected delivery was 12/23. Really hoping it comes before that!

I can't help but jump straight to Ninja Gaiden Black first, every time I turn on the console. Unbelievable that the game still holds up so well to this day, camera aside. Very addictive gameplay and still the king of third person melee action games.

Whelp mine died on day 2, completely dead. Won't power on at all, tried everything. Several other people on reddit same thing. I have the worse luck.

Not sure why I am getting triggered lol

Anyway, several other people on Reddit have the same problem. I have to give Best Buy props though, they have setup a special replacement plan for people who pre-ordered only. New console will be here in 5 days. Xbox support said I would have to send the console to them then they try to repair it, 17 days to get something back oof.

Best Buy may have won me other again.

Looks amazing in 4K, doesn't it?

I really like the system so far, i had a problem with quick resume where it got a black screen on 2 games.
But it's sorted itself out now, the thing i don't like and was gutted it doesn't work, is streaming to my laptop.
I used this a lot on my old console due to Mrs wanting TV, I play a lot more on my laptop screen than on TV. But no Microsoft seem to of removed this feature for now on Series X.
I thought these new consoles were meant to bring forward old features along with adding new ones.. Gutted....

Setting up the PS5 only drove further home the point that MSFT approach to cross-platform transitions and BC is absolutely fantastic. My transfer to XSX was seamless. Plugged the external HDs and here we go.

Here I am playing Witcher 2 in glorious 4K - haven't tried Auto HDR yet.

Love my Series S so far now the wait for Cyberpunk 2077. For now it's back to Outer Worlds the faster loading makes this game so much more playable.

Well, got it all set up and updated. My Xbox mobile App would not work until I put the console on wireless manually. After that it was a breeze.

This is the quietest console I have ever owned.

Sorely miss Halo Infinite though.

You have to use external charger, USB charging is for official battery pack only.
