GTA: The Trilogy - Definitive Edition |OT| Ah shit, here we go again

Are these two siblings? Or just inbred?

Nice nail polish, homie.

The gift that keeps on giving: presenting, first person mode in SA while on a quad bike.

Yeah I played mission one of SA last night and it felt sooooo outdated that I'm not sure I can stomach a play through.

That rain in San Andreas, terrible, almost headache inducing.

And shame on the people defending this release, especially the fan sites and other freebie grabbing folk. It's no where near what it could it have been.

Just think with some considerable investment , talent and time we could of got something better than this but no. Haters gonna hate, what do you expect, it's your own fault for having any sort of expectations.

Get to fuck with that shit.

I knew, you could tell , how timid the pre launch hype and marketing was that something was off. If it was a real job on these games we would of got a brief walkthrough , a demonstration but no.

All through the PS4 generation they could of invested and really took their time with this to have something worthwhile but no. We can't have that. People are not supposed to have expectations. Sick of it.

And shit like this, yeah great fun mate

Imagine taking friday off to play original GTA on your brand new PC and you see this:

Not that this could actually happen to a multi-billion corporation and their super advanced launcher, could it?

Holy shit, this has to be one of the best remasters for all the wrong reasons. It's like, the gifts that just keep on giving, lmao.

The cut music is present in the game files, but just scripted out of the game? Jesus Christ. That's so incredibly lazy, but also so hilarious.

This has to be one of the worst remasters I've ever seen, and it came from one of the biggest (if not THE biggest) money making studios in the industry. I really hope it doesn't move a lot of units.

Sucks to hear this isn't very good. Was hoping it would be worth trying after the disaster that was the Steam releases.

Not all that surprising considering how fast it was announced and then released. And the fact that they didn't show any footage in the trailer. Lmao. That gut feeling is usually right.

More than half of Vice City is currently unplayable to this guy because a critical mission can't be finished.

Here's what happened ok.

Rockstar's got problems with GTA 6 and it's heavily delayed, so in order to appease people and shareholders they throw this at an outsourced dev and say have it done by this date, no delays, no exceptions.

So they work on it for a year or two and push it out regardless of the state. Maybe they'll fix some stuff, maybe stuff can be modded, who knows.

I remember the Rockstar launcher from years ago, it was the slowest most broken thing I ever tried. And it makes PERFECT sense to me that it broke down with this release, that no one thought about putting together a decently working portal to their games that they are making billions on blows my fucking mind. It's beyond all forms of incompetence.

Played a bit of all three games. I really like it.

They are not perfect by any stretch, but for old school fans like me? Yeah, it feels like an absolute treat.

The environments are stunning, especially San Andreas' graphics. Los Santos looks amazing. I also love how many neon lights Vice City has now at night and how much it pops. Hopefully they can patch some bugs out and fix the character models a tad, those are my only gripes.

Also really happy with the mission restart system. Having to drive to the mission every single time you failed made these games tedious as much as I love them.

I'll start with SA since that's on GamePass. Don't mind spending the $60, but I'll wait a bit for any updates from Rockstar on the trilogy as a whole before buying it.

For me it's not even the funnier looking character models. If you're going to remake some of the assets, sometimes the results will be a bit weird looking. But some of those models are deformed. You can tell the assets were put through some kind of AI to make them more detailed, and they weren't properly checked afterwards to make sure they were at least acceptable.

It's also the bugs and crashes, invisible walls, clipping, etc... That interview with R* and the dev in charge of this project was pure bullshit, about how a big part of the reason behind this project was preservation. The disc versions of these games will forever be riddled with bugs, unless they somehow clean up this mess before the discs start being manufactured. Terrible.

It's funny cause they seem to be proud of new rain:

Maybe it's a mistake and they meant it's a torment, not a torrent
How can they be proud of that shitty 2d effect?

these games are too outdated to play now. they were never great gamplay wise even at release. compare it to something like MGS2, which is still great to play even today.

also, rockstar should have properly remade each one like capcom did with resi 1,2 and 3.

The strange thing is: I've been playing GTA San Andreas since yesterday and couldn't find a single glitch like the ones that have been posted here. Playing on Series X.

San Andreas is still a great game. Even thought I finished this game in the past, I'm having lots of fun doing all the stuff again now in 2021.

Anyone can confirm or deny that cars still can't get dirty in San Andreas just like in the mobile version?

Hmm, so...I see and agree with the issues people are pointing out with these releases, but I can't help but wonder if the engines just aren't capable of performing at the level we expect at this point. I know part of the reason RDR never got a PC release is that the engine itself was a complete mess that took a miracle to work in the first place, so it's entirely possible that these face the same problems. That's not an excuse of course, because if they can't perform they shouldn't be fucking released without caveats being known.

I will say, though, that I couldn't keep a goofy ass grin off my face while I was playing Vice City last night, warts and all. Great memories there, but I just don't think these can be brought forward to today's standards without a complete remake from the ground up.
