Tom Henderson - PS5 Pro Unboxings - Nov 4th PS5 Pro Reviews - Nov 6th

I wanna know how it sounds. The PS5 for all intents did away with the jet engine that the PS4 was. I hope the Pro stays just as quiet
I don't know why it wouldn't, honestly. It'll likely be the same as the One X where, yes it's rendering games at higher fidelities and resolution, but such won't affect the acoustics of the actual console. All of the current gen machines are almost inaudible even under heavy load, so I expect the PS5 Pro to be the same.

I really dont need it. I only play apex, the finals and rocket league... my tv is 60 hz and 55", no hdr...im poor...i dont need it...but i want it

I don't know about the rest of you, but I can only watch a product being unboxed in the same fashion once or twice lol. Unboxing videos are always the least interesting part of a new console release. I'm looking forward to seeing actual results.

I don't need it, but I save 100/month to buy consoles and not have the wife give me a side eye when I buy them. I'm buying the hardware because I can not because I need it, I honestly don't see enough difference to splurge $700 🤷🏻‍♂️

much better unboxing video

Cool, so looks like front USB C super speed is the bottom/left one, with slower speed on the top/right. At least the covers are all matt. Two stand clips for horizontal is good too and will actually sit better/sturdier than my OG on its stand horizontally.

Here come the unboxings

System looks great, it looks better and smaller than the OG PS5.
A huge step up compared to the PS4 PRO which was bigger and uglier with the multilayer burger design.
The PS5 Pro is also really likely to be very silent unlike the PS4 Pro which sounded like a hair dryer.
So huge design step up.

Ok. The flood gates are open.

Edit: wow! Disastrous use of PSSR (not remedy's fault but still). Worse artifacts than with FSR, even on quality mode.

Edit 2: in case you missed that CNET preview video, here is the review…

The 3D juegos analysis mentions that whilst most games see a substantial change (Capcom games the most), others don't see too much change like AWII, they kinda blame the original low resolution for this and that PSSR can do miracles with it. But who knows, I hope they can continue doing patches and the games look better.

Ray tracing effects are higher tho.

So nearly all review for PS5 Pro say that people should limit their expectation with PS6 in term of raw performance as new AI upscale for sony will be the main benchmark from now on and its updates.

Don't want to watch all the videos. Anything about the noise? Curious if it's gonna be another vacuum cleaner or silent.

All reviews seem... very shallow right now? Nothing new is being said so far.

You can't expect much more from mainstream press, they can hardly review games :messenger_tears_of_joy: 🤭
They'll just tell you that it looks better but it's no PS6. Thank you very much 🥇
Reviews from NXG and DF and future dedicated contents will be far more interesting.

Damn AW2 really is looking disappointing. Worse performance in performance mode than the base PS5 wtf. And the temporal instability seems worse too. I dont know why they are having so much trouble, based on the 7700XT performance on PC one would expect it would be doing better.

Also lmao at the CNET comparison video, it shows how much better Digital Foundry is when it comes to this stuff.

Because it's an RX 6800 with bolted on ML and RT from RDNA 4 - it's not a full RDNA 3/3.5 or 4 GPU.

Told you all.
