Yeah, I think the bottom line for gamers is really simple - if the game is good, it will sell good, regardless other factors.

Problem is 9 out of 10 times, the games that associated with hot controversies are not good ones. If fact, I think it's because the devs were focusing on the "controversies" that they didn't have capability to make their games better quality.

Anyway, in terms of Avowed, since it's launching on game pass, we will never know the sales. If it ends up being decent, I will play it.

Well actually, what is even success for an obsidian cRPG

It'll sell worse than all those games in February including a shit Assassin's creed if we're honest. cRPG, they tried their best to make it their most ambitious looking one and to get Skyrim vibes but I don't think that's breaking 3M lifetime. Even that might be a stretch. No idea what their sales were before.

Anyway, good to see you can still give the game a go if it reviews well with user reviews, saw you say things like « deranged » and other remarks on the situation with a couple of memes and that the whole studio is gone cuckoo, is just you being specifically against the intrusion of this shit in games but that it's not an automatic rejection. On Steam? That's a tough call. It's possible Avowed does better than Shadows.

Overall I think Avowed will be the bigger flop. AssCreed is way more mainstream, especially on consoles. Will it post Valhalla numbers? Hell no. But it will comfortably outsell Avowed.
